Programming :: Start Video Resource Manager In System?
May 5, 2010
I am trying to develop a video resource manager in Linux.By that what I mean is, if two applications (may be running in two different machines) are trying to play videos, the video resources will be served by this video resource manager (running at a center location). Pardon me as I donot have much idea about video resource handling in Linux , first of all , it is feasible to have this kind of a layer, in between the applications and the available resource hardware.
Kindly give me some pointer as to how do I start? Pl. give me some reference URLs.
I have a few updates that I can install using the Update Manager but when I click the "Install Updates" button I get this pop up window message E: Could not get lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the download directory How to get the updates?
Recently I use a program "pktlogdump" in IXP platform. But the system print an error message as follow:"error while loading shared libraries: libm.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".So where can I get this file? Or how can I get the resource file?
I'm working a program to implement a simple multi-process browser. The browser works by having a ROUTER process as the parent of everything else in the program. There's another process called the CONTROLLER which is part of where the user can input information. To tell the ROUTER to make a new tab in the browser the user activates a function from the CONTROLLER to send the create new tab information to the ROUTER:
I want to disallow one user using Solaris machine when some process is active. I will store the PID of my process. If that PID is alive then i do not want one specific user to use the machine.
I have a SSH access to some linux servers, is it possible that I can get some graphical report for system utilization (CPU, memory and disk space) for a given time range.
I dont have any graphical access to the system.
Currently I am fetching the records using "sar -r" command , pasting them in a excel sheet to generate the reports.
I am working with a C++ program consisting of two threads. The first threads receives packets through an UDP unicast connection and stores them in a buffer. The second thread reads the packets from the buffer and sends them through an UDP multicast connection. Both use blocking sockets and share a common buffer and a linked list L1, which are protected by mutexes. The program seemed to work just fine, receiving a packet and sending it almost immediately, but started giving some trouble recently. The synchronization between both thread started failing, and I decided to use a non-blocking socket in the sending thread. As a consequence, sendto() doesn't work in some cases, causing an errno 11 (Resource unavailable).
I want to change the resource limits for a specific processOr to create a new process and give it limits as I want, There is a function setrlimit, Which is possible to change it but for a programmatic I want to apply it to another Process, The problem is that this function does not receive process ID for example. I read in most books on the subject of The Linux system programming
I have installed Oracle 11g on 5.3. Now, I am trying to START and STOP oracle automatically on system startup and shutdown. I am following this link To have this effect, I have created /etc/init.d/dbora
Kontact worked, but I had to manually start Akonadi (from system tray) to get contacts to work. After reboot, Kontact won't start, instead showing a red box with an X, and "Akondaki not operational".The box on the screen (selftest) says "MySQL server log contains errors", and "Akonadi server process not registered at D-Bus".The report is saves says Test 14: error "no resource agents found".If I close the Akonadi window, and try to start Akonadi from the system tray, it gives the same errors.
Got a bit of a problem where xorg can't start kdm. I pulled out a dying AGP card to try and switch to onboard video, and I think the previous configuration is gumming up the works.I've been running this system for quite a while, as you'll be able to tell from the version numbers.Would like to avoid having to transport my Amarok databases to a new server. I make heavy use of the song ratings and whenever I try to transport the database from the old system to a fresh build I have to spend hours relearning sql commands.Any ideas how to either fix the resolutions on the ATI or (preferably) get KDE to start on the onboard graphics?
I was trying to take advantage of that new HTML5 <video> tag, and Firefox 3.5's native Ogg support, by embedding an .ogv video. Here is the references I used:
[code].....
Here was the code I put on my web page:
Code:
<video width="640" height="480" controls="controls"> <source src="http://path/to/uploaded/video/on/my/site.ogv" /> Your browser does not support the <code>video</code> element. </video>
However, when I view it I get a video box, but it is grey and will not play a video. I keep playing with the various attributes but the result always seems to be the same. I also tried it on a Windows box with Firefox 3.5 (to make sure it didn't have something to do with my Linux config) but the results were the same.
Hello - installed 10.04 yesterday, Had previously dabbled, trying to switch over to Ubuntu full time now. Wanted to access the session manager, but when I scroll to System/Preferences, there is no entry for it, or for the startup programs manager. Also, I'm getting the following error when attempting to open the "windows" entry: Failed to execute child process "gnome-window-properties" (No such file or directory)
Did I somehow botch something in gnome which is now leading to the absence of the session manager as well as the inability to launch the "windows" manager?
I use release 11.2 and this one works very well. I try new release 11.3 and my system crash when I wont to start system on runlevel 5. There is Sempron 2 GHz CPU and nvidia fx550 graphics card. Keyboard PS2 does not responds but mouse on USB work well. When I start "safe" boot option system work well. What I can to do ? What I must change
I did searched you tube but my results were not great.I have 2 books on KernelProgramming.I feel I need if some where I can get a video tutorial which can help me to understand how to develop a Linux Device driver that will be great.I had a look at Greg Kroah Hartmans video lecture of developing patches on ......I have been reading books and a lot of stuff. So I wish if I could get a video lecture that would be better
I want that I click with the mouse on the video, it paused.I notice that there is "BaconVideoWidget" which I guess is the video rendering widget but it don't have signal named "clicked":
i want a process that can operate as both a TCP echo server and a UDP echo server. The process can provide service to many clients at the same time, but involves a single process that does not start up any other threads.
I get errors when trying to manage my VM with Virtual Machine Manager. When adding the disk img, it complained that it didn't have search rights and tried to fix it but failed. It let me move on so I moved forward.I then built the VM and I couldn;t start it from within VMM.
My first post on openSUSE, since migrating from Ubuntu (didn't like Unity!). I've installed the virtualization packages from YAST2 and when I attempt to run virt-manager, it crashes. The error is Code: could not import gobject (could not find _PyGObject_API object) I've searched both these forums and via a general Google and although I've found posts, all of them are apparently resolved - but not mine.
My laptop is fully up to date and running Gnome 3 on openSUSE 11.4.Has anyone else come across this lately?
I just upgraded Ubuntu from 9.10 to 10.04 and am having a problem with the window manager. When I log in and after it applies my background and the panels load, the window manager doesn't start right away, so if I open a program it won't have a top to it. I have to turn on Compiz, which turns off every time I turn on the computer. If I set it to normal, it searches for drivers and then the tops of windows appear. I have had to do this every time since I upgraded. I would do a clean install, but I have no way to back up my data since I have so much. How can I fix this?
I have a memory leak, thus, I need to run memcheck-memtest86. I run ubuntu 10.04 lucid and my GRUB is 2 (GNU GRUB 1.98-1ubuntu7). I have been told that to run it I have to, when booting the system, select it from the GRUB menu and use the OS as I usually do so memtest can show the leaks that annoy me.
Problems so far: in system-administration-startup-manager I can only see 2 tabs (boot options and advanced), while in the following webpage [URL] there are another 2 that I cannot see in my machine (security and advanced). Why does that happen? The idea is that I can configurate the boot menu with the startup manager, right? with the screenshot that I have uploaded, I have much less options. Again, why is that?
I was editing my wireless network connections when all of a sudden the network connections .. i have tried everything from reinstalling to removing and installing . nothing has worked. i tried installing wicd but i cannot configure wireless networks in it ..
the thread title says pretty much everything. I don't know when it stopped working, but when I click on in using the MintMenu, nothing happens. The process appears in System Monitor as a Zombie, under Memory shows N/A and under Waiting Channel it shows "do_exit".Launching mintinstall from the terminal displays the following:
Code: /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintInstall/mintinstall.py:250: SyntaxWarning: import * only allowed at module level
