Programming :: C++ - Basic Math Always Returns 0 ?

Why are basic math problems returning 0? I know that Integers can only hold whole numbers, and it had the exact same problem when I used floats. I am using GCC 4.4.4.

I have a user that wants to use basic math functions from the command line like sqrt and such. Apparently it was installed on the previous server we were using, but not on this new Debian server by default.
Anyone know what package has that functionality?
When I try to compile this code:
#include <math.h>
int main (void) {
double x, y;
x = 2;
y = sqrt(x);
return 0;
}
With the command:
$ gcc test.c
I got this message:
/tmp/cc5QZmCN.o: In function 'main':
test.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference to 'sqrt'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
I tried this on a fresh jessie install. I have the same problem on wheezy.
I've started programming in c recently . following are the details about scene:
* vim is editor and program is compiled in gcc whenever a program involving math function appears it gives error i.though math.h is included in header file compiler complains about it it gives error of unrecognized function that math function like sqrt, etc question is how to connect math.h to a program.
Here is my situation:I have a series of .plt files that are geared for a device that has it's xy origin at the lower left of the paper however some devices use the center of the paper as it's origin in a piped shell script how can I convert this file to a center origin plot file?Here are some knowns: the existing file always Lower Left 0.0 the existing file max xy is the page upper right x.x the desired output file must have it's 0.0 at the exact center of page (page size will vary). Ideas: Based on the sample files included maybe use PU and PD as the triggers for inputs to be calculated as any other commands have nothing to do with coordinates.

I need to be able to install the Math::Pari CPAN module in order to accomodate the Net::SSH CPAN module. The prereqs are installed:
Code:
cpan> install Net::FTP

Do you want to me to fetch GP/PARI automatically?
(If you do not, you will need to fetch it manually, and/or direct me to the directory with GP/PARI source via the command-line option paridir=/dir)
Make sure you have a large scrollback buffer to see the messages, or 'tee' the STDOUT/STDERR to a file.
Fetch? (y/n, press Enter) y

I am facing issue in my OPENSSL code. I have written openssl client. It sends request to the host and receives response for that request.
My problem is, it connects, sends request successfully to host at first time only in sencond attempt it fails on SSL_write(). where SSL_get_error() returns SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL error.
In that ERR_get_error() returns 0. man page shows "If ret == 0, an EOF was observed that violates the protocol".
Code Snippet.
w=SSL_write(SSLRequestData.ssl,c2s,c2sl);
switch(SSL_get_error(SSLRequestData.ssl,w))
{
case SSL_ERROR_NONE:
if(c2sl!=w)

I guess I'm just a noob, but I notice that some C libraries (and even some C++ ones) tend to redefine the basic types with their own naming convention.
For example, OpenGL redefines the basic types:
Code: from GL/gl.h
typedef unsigned int GLenum;
typedef unsigned char GLboolean;
typedef unsigned int GLbitfield;
typedef signed char GLbyte;
typedef short GLshort;
typedef int GLint;
[Code].....
I'm venturing into the world of OpenGL, but in the process of writing my graphics library I ran into a problem... My code is:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
[code]...
I'm studying the C Language, None of the documents I'm reading covers returning values from a function. They state that the function sends the valve to the caller but that is the only info I have. Do I have to create a varible with the name of the function I called and is it stored there?

In every case the operands are both valid, yet the result is EINVAL. This appears to only occurr when a watched file is deleted, and the read command on the inotify yeilds two events IN_DELETE_SELF AND IN_IGNORE (at the same time).I have seen a few messages detailing this same scenario - but no workarounds.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIf I have a Query that returns columns where some of the values are NULL, is it possible to tell SQL to return all the NULL values as empty strings instead of the NULL datatype?
If the solution is vendor specific I am (unfortunately) using a Microsoft 2008 SQL server.
Example:
Code:
Select * from imaginary_table where id = 1
Might return:
Code:
Id: 1
Name:xyz
[Code].....
int GetTime(struct timeval tv)
{
gettimeofday(&tv, NULL)
printf("%d
", tv.tv_sec); /* here is the right value */
return 0;
}
[Code]....
What happend? struct timeval has a self timer?
I have written a program that I would like to cross compile for x86 and x86_64 architectures. I have tried google and the search function here to no success, most information I find is too specific (instructions for a specific program), or dealing with cross compiling for windows on linux.Does anyone know of a tutorial dealing with straight making a 32 bit binary on a 64 bit processor (both are intel)?

using PHP. However I would like to have it very basic and simple to install. (not database SQL, nor complicated things, ...) so that I get a prompt page with login and password to access the SSH-internet, and then can SSH the linux box over SSL and regular port 80 like they do. passwd would be in a txt file or whatever. You use index.htm and no one can scroll the tree of the directory. Would have someone already embedded php code for that?
I've got a (very) simple perl xinetd server that I'd like to port to C++. implement something similar using system() or popen() without success.

I am running shell command through C program using system() routine.
I am executing "opcontrol --status" an executable using the this routine and I get the following error. access: unix error (2) No such file or directory
But when I give the complete path to the executable it runs perfectly.
The executable is installed in "/usr/local/bin/" And the path variable has this path.
I need to create a script that returns a list of the users who have never changed their password from /etc/shadow. As I know on linux there is a command "chage" used for find last password change.

I have an HP Laserjet 2200 connected via USB with 64MB of memory. When I print page 2 of this document (for example) [URL] the delta-symbol and minus-signs do not show up, although I see them in Adobe reader version 9.3.
I have tried several of the available drivers for the printer (including the "[recommended]" one) and none of them produce these symbols.
I'm guessing this is a font issue. I don't know how to show you what font stuff I have installed.

I have a service on my Suse 11 server which runs an ssh command (using openSSH) on another box.The output below is returned, but legitimate output is also returned as if the command had executed successfully. For example, the service executes an ls command through ssh, gets the error below, but also the contents of the remote directory as output. This is a problem because the service retries the command until it receives no error. I have been unable to replicate this manually from the command line. Does anyone know what might cause this or what this error really means?
