View 9 Replies View Relatedbased on the HW compatibility list, I bought a Conrad "Bluetooth Stick Micro" (Order number 97 19 99) => Does someone know, if this is "really" the one mentioned in the compatibility list ? Can I find out, what chip(set) is used ? (I'm somewhat "afraid", that the name might be the same, but the chip(set) changed. No, it is unfortunately not mentioned in the documentation coming with it) Unfortunately I didn't get it to work on Suse 11.2 (64 Bit) so far. This is what I tried: Installed bluetooth packages, based on the information I found.
These are:
root@godot:~ # rpm -qa | grep -i blue
bluez-gnome-1.8-9.4.x86_64
kdebluetooth4-0.3-9.1.x86_64
bluez-4.56-1.1.1.x86_64

I looked for a bluetooth section in yast2, but couldn't fine one. (I think I saw one in earlier releases...) => Did I miss it ? Do I miss a package ? (I checked all packages containing "yast" for something.) So, with no yast2 module present, how do I do the basic configuration ? The documents I could find all describe how to use the bluetooth connection, if the basic setup suceeded.
my Bluetooth Dongle from Sitecom Model CN-502 doesn`t works under openSUSE 11.2.I plug it into USB but no Reaktion. Under 11.1 it works?

However, I would rather download and compile from scratch myself but am unsure how to do this. The raw driver files are available on github here. URL....

I've bought this Blumax USB WLAN adapter 9009 (ID 148f:2573 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501/RT2573 Wireless Adapter). I was specifically happy to read in its specs that it supports Linux [URL].
However, it turned out that the co-packaged CD drive doesn't contain anything Linux-related, and the support page online has gzip package with many files I don't know what to do with [URL]. The online support swallowed my query and hasn't returned any answer.
So, now I am wondering what to do. I don't feel so competent as to be able to compile the drivers on my own, specifying several specific parameters. At least it doesn't compile with default params. how to move forward with this. Apart from returning the device, because I'm too far now from the place where I bought this.
I am trying to get my daughters Ubuntu Laptop to connect to the internet via a Vodafone USB dongle.
I have managed to get the modem itself to connect to Vodafone using the Sakis3G script (brilliant), however once connected the laptop will not pass data through this connection. i.e. when I select "Vodafone prepaid" as a network connection, the little pop up comes up and says GSM no connected?
When I get a connection information from Sakis, it gives an IP address and even had a tiny bit of throughput, however I do not know how to tell it to use the vodafone thingy.
I bought the modem above (ZTE MF627), which works great in Windows 7. My laptop dual boots between Windows 7 and Fedora 12, so I rebooted into Fedora and spent a few hours trying to get the modem working. Scouring the Ubuntu forums (as there's only one post on these forums and it simply didn't work), I found a few possible solutions, but nothing seems to be solving the problem. Here goes... The modem gets picked up by the kernel and appears as a USB device.

I am experiencing a strange problem. I have two vga monitors and a ATI Radeon HD 3300 embedded on my motherboard. My embedded graphics card has a vga and dvi output. When I plug my monitors in (one uses a dvi to vga dongle) only the one with out the dongle gets a signal. I can swap which monitor uses the dongle and still only the one that does not use the dongle gets a signal (both monitors work, only if they are not using a dongle). Both Ubuntu and Windows are having trouble displaying video, but no trouble detecting the monitors (display settings show both monitors but do not tell me good resolutions for them). My friend has a different dvi to vga dongle, his only has about half of the dvi pins while mine has all the pins. Could the problem be that my dongle has all the dvi pins

Firefox 3.x is very slow to start and slow to run but I'm used to it and everything works. Haven't tried 4 yet, waiting for it to land in the Mint repo.Chromium is really fast but lacks RSS feed handling. I have to right-click on a feed, copy the address and paste it into Liferea. Chromium used to be crashy but has improved a lot. I am using Chromium from the testing repo until something better comes along.Midori has poor bookmark management but is otherwise OK. On a gtk system it is really fast loading. I used it for a couple months but recently switched to Chromium.

I'm a little security paranoid, there are a lot of times that my terminal is available to prying eyes and listless fingers. As a security minded individual, I would like to make sure to lock down my Ubuntu (11.04b3) install in one of the best ways I can think of, and require a dongle to access my box. Is this something any of you other security minded people have done?
What are other great ways to lock my terminal? I would like to make sure that not only the "average" user, but also the ABOVE average user will not be able to penetrate my system without a key. Let me know what you think, and other measures I can take.

I recently migrated from Gentoo Linux to openSuSE because I no longer have that much time to maintain the sane state of my system, and want my computer to just work when I need it.. So far openSuSE surprised me and I was able to configure my system almost completely without even touching the shell where I almost lived in the Gentoo days..
However, I'm not able to make openSuSE automatically detect my logitech BT dongle (as part of a dinovo keyboard and mouse set) and switch it from HID to HCI mode so I'm able to use bluetooth.
What does work is this:
Code:
# /usr/sbin/hid2hci --method=logitech --vendor=046d --product=c70c
Then the dongle is switched to HCI mode, a bluetooth applet appears in gnome and I was able to pair with the keyboard, keypad, mouse and mobile phone
But I don't want to manually run that command each time, so I figured the best way is to let udev handle that (?).. As I didn't find any udev rules to perform such an action I tried creating one myself, however, I'm not sure that I'm doing it right /etc/udev/rules.d/70-hid2hci:
Code:
ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c70[345abce]|c71[34bc]", RUN+="/usr/sbin/hid2hci --method=logitech --vendor=$attr{idVendor} --product=$attr{idProduct}"
But that doesn't seem to work..(yes I reloaded the udev rules using udevadm)
how do I make this work? And shouldn't it already work out-of-the-box?

It came with some sort of code that can be "compiled" but I havent got a clue how to do that (and I have been researching this matter for quite some time now). I then came across a post where someone with the same USB stick created and added only two small files to his filesystem and it worked...for him (maybe becasuse he was on a different Distro )

When out of the box did not work I installed the rt3070sta-kmp-desktop - RT3070 Wireless Lan Linux Driver from the repos.
