View 1 RepliesWhen I getch() a key event (UP arrow key), the getch() function return a string of characters that I cannot compare with curses.KEY_UP constant. Here is the code I use :
while True:
w = gb.scrn.getch()
c = chr(w)
otp = 'touche:'+str(w)+' '+str(c)+"

It seems like getch() return three distincts bytes while I would retrieve it with a single ord() instruction in python like describes in curses/python documentation.
I am trying to compile a program for my assignment at school that uses curses.I have installed libncurses5-dev, and curses.h is now in /usr/include, but I am getting all these errors(it compiles fine at school).

Just something I've been curious about. I've been messing a fair bit with some of my own scripts, and in some cases, getting sent an IM would be useful to let me know when a task is done. the ability to set account information in a text file.It'd be okay if I can designate only a single recipient, or set recipients in the config file at the very least, jabber support.Be able to be controlled via standard shell commands - for example I should be able to pipe a message output into the program for example.

When I run wicd-curses from the cli, it finds the network and I'm able to obtain an IP address. The wireless ESSID that I'm connecting to is encrypted with WPA. I can't seem to figure out how to input the encryption password so I can connect.

I went to install VLC and mplayer in 64-bit openSUSE 11.3 and neither of them were in the repositories. I have both the oss and non-oss repositories enabled but still can't find them. I am running KDE 4.4.4. Are these nonexistant for this version or am I just missing something?

I am having problems installing fortran g95 compiler. I followed the exact instructions listed on the website The G95 Project (click on manual tab for further details), but I am still getting this error when I try using the driver:
shamo@linux-wrws:~> g95
bash: g95: command not found
Here is what I did:
>wget -O - http://ftp.g95.org/g95-x86-linux.tgz | tar xvfz -
The program installed properly, and I was able to verify the installation in /usr/share/g95-install. All the libraries were installed, and I was able to run the actual "executable" when I cd'ed to its directory) Next I created a symbolic link to the driver so that I could run from anywhere using g95 command:
>ln -s $PWD/g95-install/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-g95 /usr/bin/g95
Again I was able to verify that the link was created in /usr/bin. I also verified that /usr/bin was on my PATH using $PATH command.
just downloaded gkrellm and I go to set the temperature sensors and I get "No Sensors Detected" now I've never dealt with something of this nature before so can anyone tell me where I might begin with this one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedStrangest thing happened today. I tried to print a simple text document from Kwrite and noticed it would not print. I tried it again selecting a different printer. No result. I tried copying the contents and pasting into Libre Office, then print...no printers to select...Odd. I decided to check on cupsd status from CLI. It was up. Here's where things get stranger. I open CUPS web manager and select printers...'No printers found' Okay, that's odd since I should have about 12, and they are showing up in Kwrite but not in LibreOffice nor CUPS manager.
Assuming Kwrite used some sort of cache I decided to check out /etc/cups/printers.conf....Hmmm zero byte file with but in the same directory a file printers.conf.O dated about 7 days ago. So I did an /etc/init.d/cups stop, did a cat printers.conf.O > printers.conf and /et c/init.d/cups start...all is back to normal. WTH?! What waxed all of my printers?
I'm running OpenSuSE 11.2, 64-bit version, and after some system upheavals I now have no sound. Other indications of what is wrong (redacted to remove redundancies):

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to reload my openSuSE 11.1 and reloaded KDE 4.3.4 from KDE Repositories and did an unconditional update on KDE Core and Community to ensure I got all the current versions back.
I am now having an issue with at least two plasmoids that is regularly used. When I attempt to add them to the desktop, I get the message "component not found". This happens to at least these two, yasp and yawp for system status and weather. It may happen to others, I haven't tried.
They are both loaded and both are present in /usr/share/kde4/services. I removed them using YaST, then rebooted, then re-added them, then rebooted and still get the same result, component not found.
I seem to be having a problem with burning CDs. Whenever I launch k3b, it says 'No optical drive found.' However, When I insert a CD while in KDE, it properly mounts it. What do I do? It seems like udev/hal is working fine. Also, I can't get KDE to recognize any inserted flash drive or external usb storage device inserted on demand.

now 11.3 is out, how do i upgrade from 11.2 (i presume theres an upgrade path via repo's than dvd/cd install)? i've tried 'Software Update', but comes out with no found updates.
I'm doing an distro upgrade from 11.2 to 11.3 and for the DVD drive, the repo URL comes up as dvd:/// in ast and zypper. However medium not read is being reported, forcing me to find out exactly what "dvd:///" is pointing to.
My DVD drive is certainly readable and mountable and sits at /dev/dvd (symlink for /dev/sr0). I usually mount it manually, but the problem here is I don't know how to find out what "dvd:///" represents.
I recently got myself a seagate 2 TB external usb harddrive.
I formatted it with ext3 and the fstab looks thus:

done 11.4 update from DVD on my two laptops and I'm trying to do my home machine now.Problem is that the DVD update does not find any repos. I told the update system to set up wired network using DHCP and everything seems OK, when I check the box to use separate media during installation the system won't find any community repositories and when I specify URL it simlply won't connect to the repo. As for as I can tell there is a connection to the internet, but maybe not
