I have another question: What is the expiration date on OpenSuSE 11.2? I vaguely remember a page that told what the expiration date is for all the versions. But now I can't remember where it is. I want to know how much time I have left to grab up all the necessary apps and stuff before the repositories for this version are deleted.
View 1 RepliesI have a dhcpd server running CentOS and Webmin. I noticed in my lists of expired leases some of the lease times are only a few hours even thought I have lease length set to 1 week. I want to keep a lease for a week even if the device requests that it be expired. Is there some way I can do this in dhcpd? I am attaching a screenshot of some of my lease times listed in Webmin.

Now occasionally I'm using two cameras (either for different settings or an assistant is also taking photos) which means that for one event I can have differently named images.Both cameras have the same time set (which always helps in Windows) but in Ubuntu when trying to sort my folder by date taken I can't.The options I'm given are to sort them: Manually, by Name, by Size, by Type, by Modification date and by Emblem.Now none of those are helpful to me once I've done a few edits to the images.So please if anyone knows, how do you organise a folder with images taken on different cameras by Date Taken rather than Date Edited?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have heard its going to be July. One concern is KDE4.4 and whether this is going to be the KDE default environment for 11.2. Over at KDE, 4.4 is out with a 1 click install for 11.2. The main problem I have discovered from reading the KDE forum is poor multi monitor support with separate X screens. From what I read this is extremely problematic. I would like to update to 4.4 to get the equalizer back in Amorak but attempted once, the day before they officially released 4.4 with no success. I wonder if anyone here is using 4.4 in a separate X screen setup?? Additional thought-- when 11.3 is released will 4.4 be the only option or will we be able to elect to use 3.xx??
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have noticed that the apps in the suse repos are kinda out-dated,like banshee is 1.6.0 while the latest is 1.8 same thing for amarok and some stuff,so am trying to keep all the packages up to date from the repositories,i added most of the repos and factory types that should make the system up to date,but to no avail.

PS i also added the 3 repos for kde 4.5 sc to update to 4.5 but still i didn't receive any update notice from the software manager.
I have installed silverlight via software installer but when I try to view catch up tv via channel nine MSN it says that silverlight may not be up to date and it does not show the video. I run Opensuse 11.4 64 bit kde, and I have tried Google Chrome and Firefox.

I have 2 opensuse 11.1 servers and on both when you adjust the time in yast, I go back into yast and the setting for the NTP server is not set and "manual" is checked. I tried many times and the setting keeps reverting back. I always click on Save NTP configuration.

Ive a little problem in xen guest machines. The hardware UTC time is grather than the insanity time (ntp doesnt works) and I cant change the date and time from yast. I can`t access the hwclock information (errno=19) unable to get /dev/rtc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a switch tray on my computer and I installed opensuse in one of the hard drives that I have but as I switch between the windows hard drive and opensuse the time changes all the time. For example it's 10pm right now and if I switch the hard drive to opensuse the time automatically gets adjusted 4 hours back and then I fix it and when I switch back to my windows hard drive the time goes forward 4 hours. I check both region settings and they are both set to NY Eastern time. Why is it doing this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed OpenSuse 11.2 3 months ago on my laptop. I'm running with the Gnome Desktop. I live in Chicago and am currently in London. When I set the timezone to Europe/UK the date/time are correct UNTIL I reboot the laptop. After reboot if I type in the 'date' command it shows the time at 6+ hours from London time. When I check the hardware clock 'hwclock' it displays the correct London time. I check the time setup with yast and it shows the correct Timezone but again shows the 6+ hours difference. I change the time in yast and and my applications ( e-mail) display the correct local time again... UNTIL I reboot and then I'm right back where I started - wrong local time ! I suppose I could write a little startup script to do a 'hwclock --hctosys' but I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone out there had any ideas..BTW - I hate to say this but on the same laptop running XP I don't have this problem AND I didn't see this problem in OpenSuse 10.3 or 11.1
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just switched from a basic digital camera to a more advanced one that stores both Jpeg and Raw (.Nef - it's a Nikon) files for me.When importing files in Digikam, I rename the files so that they start with Date and Time. Example: 20110121-223748.JPG for a photo taken on Jan 21st 2011 at 22:37:48.I was a bit surprised when importing both the JPEG and the Raw version of the same photo, that the filename is different by a few seconds (no constant offset, sometimes they are the same):

I did some "research" by looking at the exif data of both files (using "exiftool 20110121-223748.JPG" from the command line). Here is what I got back

Date/Time Original : 2011:01:21 22:37:48

So it seems that Digikam is using the "File Modification Date/Time" (different in the Jpeg's and Raw's of my camera) rather than the "Create Date" (the same for both Jpeg and Raw). (The few seconds difference in "File Modification Date/Time" between the two versions of the same photo is probably due to the time that my camera needs to write away the data on the SD memory card. I guess.) Is there a way to have Digikam use the Create Date? (Or the Date/Time Original?)
PS: I'm on Ubuntu 10.04LTS, using DigiKam 1.2.0
I would really like to preserve a file's original modified date and pass it back to the file as the same attribute after a script has worked on it. I get a lot of JPEG files from different places on the Net which I either turn around and upload or burn to disk, and having the "original" date of either download or last mod in a graphics app would be for me, in the long run, a lot more helpful when deciding, for instance, which files to "recycle" or pass on backing up more than once.I've tried doing this on my own every now and then. Where I run into problems is that it appears "stat" and "date" use different formats for date information, and I can't seem to puzzle out how to "translate" one to the other satisfactorily for the latter command.
Just to give an example:
stat foo.jpg |grep Modify gives me
Modify: 2010-07-12 06:28:56.890625000 -0400
Passing that string as-is to date foo.jpg, I get the errordate: unknown option -- 0 and the usual semi-courteous suggestion to Try 'date --help' for more information.Somehow my TexInfo database got screwed up somewhere along the line and info dategives me the short article on date input formats, not the full documentation for the command
When I clall the "update manager" it tells me if my system is up-to-date or new updates are available. Lets assume I update my system now (I disabled automatic updates).
Then (in a couple of days or weeks) I start the Update Manager again and it tells me again that new updates available. How can I find out now when the last time was when my system was "up-to-date" (=when a complete, successful update took place)?
Is there soemwhere an entry which shows this date?
I remember when using openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.5, the network connections started to show the last date used for my "NIC".I am using the plasmoid-networkmanagement plasmoid and KNemo.After I downloaded and installed openSUSE 11.4 64-bit, the network connection no longer shows the last date used. I have set up my card via Yast and Iam connected directly to the Internet. No proxy.To find where this is located, navigate to:Configure Desktop --> Network Settings --> Network Connections --> Wired tab.
