OpenSUSE :: SpiderOak Incompatible Qt Libs In 11.4 After KDE 4.6.3 Upgrade
May 27, 2011
After upgrading KDE from 4.6.0 to 4.6.3 SpiderOak will fail to run with message. Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x40703) with this library (version 0x40701). There's no more SO package in Non-OSS, apparently due to some support issues. That's a pity, since Dropbox had conceded access to US agencies, IMO SpiderOak is a really good option, and has been working very nicely until now. Anyway, Yast tells me that KDE 4.6.0 uses Qt 4.7.1, while 4.6.3 brings in Qt 4.7.3. A possible solution may be found here, originally for Qt 4.7.2. I'll try it and report.

I recently upgraded to lucid. During the upgrade, I got a message about Glade being incompatible(?) and clicked ok. It was uninstalled with several dozen packages.
I would really like to get it back. Is there a compatibility issue with Glade and 10.4?

I just installed KOffice, and all components listed with it under Office-Suite, using YaST's Add/Remove Software and I receive this error whenever I try running KWord The plugin 'kwordpart' uses an incompatible kde library (4.71 (4.71)).
KWord then does not run. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

On Opensuse 11.4 64bit, on a Dell E6410 notebook. Installed the 32bit dependencies from SDB: Skype (SDB:Skype - openSUSE ) i.e. su -c 'zypper install libasound2-32bit xorg-x11-libXv-32bit xorg-x11-libs-32bit libqt4-x11-32bit libpng12-0-32bit' Then installed the latest version (2.2.0.25 from Skype website for openSuse 11+
And when launching skype in a terminal window I get "Fatal: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x40702) with this library (version 0x40701) Aborted" And this corresponds tot requireing an older QT library for Skype than is the current version from openSuse 11.4 How do I fix this?? I've already pursued all other solutions I could find.

I'm running openSuSe 11.3 and KDE4.5, but the only version of KDirStat that I can find in the repos is dependent on the KDE3 libs. Is there a version available for KDE4.5? Or maybe something else equally as good (apart from running WinDirStat under Wine)

I have downloaded the rpmpackage SpiderOak-9680-1.fc10.i386.rpmBut when I installed the package and run the client I don't get any category-maps in the backup tab "Basic mode" .So my question is, are the rpm package "SpiderOak-9680-1.fc10.i386.rpm" compatible with F13 ?The rpmpackage is made for F10 but is there any differences in the package-structure so it will not work fully in F13 ?

I've evaluated about 15 offline storage systems this week, and one of the best was spideroak, but there's a huge issue in their shared folder structure and procedure. When you make part of your data shareable you MUST share a folder from your original disk. This is a real pain. You cannot share specific files like you can on many others. To initiate sharing your establish your unique username for sharing (different preferably than your spideroak username) the share name, and the room key (password). While you might expect the share name to be part of the URL that guides you to the share which then accepts your password for access, thats not how it works. Instead spideroak gives you a URL that contains the PASSWORD and does not even mention the share name!!
Therefore anyone you give the URL to has direct access to the share you create (which is what you are trying to accomplish in general) but any browser THEY USE will remember the URL which contains the password, not the share name.THIS IS A HUGE SECURITY ISSUE since you have no control over how an authorized user is going to access your data and from where and most users are not sophisticated enough to guard against the default intrusion they are going to leave behind.

Update:so I can burn DVD+Rs fine. I burned Fedora 14 originally on this machine (in F13), although I'll have to check to see what kind of disks I was using.
Here is my posting from unix.stackexchange.com:
I have been trying to burn a few ISOs lately with no success and have certainly used this hardware in the past, so I am not sure what's going on. I am using DVD-R media (tried multiple discs) which appears to be supported by my drive. Here is the error I received in GnomeBaker on Fedora 14 (64):

I am running lucid with Thunderbird 3.1.5 (32 bit) and trying to install Lightning 1.0b2. Whenever, I install Lightning, I cannot restart TB, if I drop it. No error message. I have to start TB from the Terminal with "thunderbird -safe-mode", remove Lightning, and then everything works. I read of others having problems with TB and Lightning, but most of these are 64 bit. I am 32 bit. Please note that I have removed all other extensions from TB, but I still can't run Lightning.
One concern I have is that even though Synaptic says that TB 3.1.5 is install, the Help>About says just TB 3.1. It doesn't include the ".5". I am concerned that despite what Synaptic says, I might not have version 3.1.5 installed. Is there any way to check if I really have version 3.1.5 installed? I tried to install the latest nightly build of Lightning, but I got the error message "Lightning 1.0b3pre could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.10". how to get Lightning to run with Thunderbird?

I'm trying to install compiz with a completely new install of slackware64-13.37. I had been using gsb gnome2 and compiz 0.8.6 under slackware64-13.1. I installed gsb gnome3 and, to my chagrin, found out that it is incompatible with compiz. I'm afraid I'm not "LEET" enough to install the old gnome (gnome2) pkg by pkg. Which version of compiz did you successfully install and in which desktop?

I have been having trouble installing a working Debian 6.0.1a (Squeeze) desktop; I cannot seem to get Xwindoes working (under KDE). Is it possible that my video monitor is simply incompatible with Squeeze? I am using an old but not ancient Samsung SyncMaster 997DF with PS/2 keyboard and mouse. Output of lspci -nn | grep VGA is: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760 PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter [1039:6330]
When I compared the contents of /usr/lib/xorg/modules and output of kdm.log between my working (but no longer trusted) Lenny and my nonworking Squeeze, I found that the driver sis_drv.so seems to be loaded by my Lenny but not by my Squeeze, and someone said that Squeeze uses a new version of Xorg which is incompatible with SIS. If so, does that mean that I need to get a new monitor? A new motherboard with video controller? I never had a video card--- do I need one to use Squeeze with KDE?....

I installed Ubuntu 5 days ago....looked great....seemed to offer everything I want. Then I clicked on the firefox icon and it brought up Google ...Great!....Then I said ..this is easy..I'll have a look at my share-trading dynamic platform. Searched for Commsec and clicked 'launch Webiress'...and then it hiccupped! I got a message saying I needed Java "Now downloading".....Okay I've had this happen in windows...no problemo.. Then I tried to follow the instructions contained on the download page from Java....thats what started my five days (30 hours now and counting) of misery.
Finally on one of the hundreds of Ubuntu pages I've read I found that there is a bug in java....that prevents it from working with the Firefox that Ubuntu provides. So I cleverly removed firefox ....and went to Mozilla and downloaded a new version 3.6 of Firefox.....followed the instructions at Sourceforge.net (and other places I can't remember). Now I have Firefox in a folder in 'Documents' with libjavaplugin_oji.so linked to ///java/jre.6.0_21/plugin/i386/ns7... But when I try to fire up Webiress I still get the messsage "Java not installed ...now downloading".

I am desperately in love with Linux and love writing Java programs on it and compiling them at the terminal. I love the terminal and practically everything about Linux. But I simply cannot boot into the newest kernel with my new laptop. Do you think the next Ubuntu release will address the current problem of my not being able to use the newest Linux kernel? This is a fundamental problem and cannot be worked around. I have to use an earlier version of the operating system that will eventually not be supported. What's funny is this: my 5+ year-old Toshiba Satellite laptop works wonderfully with Linux and can even connect to my mom's wireless network "out of the box."
I guess it's hard to keep up with all the different hardware configurations on the market, and I can understand that you can't expect every computer to work with Linux. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. i am not using any custom-build PC. I think the problem is just that my laptop is too new and Linux developers haven't had time to catch up with the hardware manufacturers.

The computer went into low graphics mode all by itself and then later threw a error that said incompatible processor system halted!the computer was getting really slow and made alot of noise.later the computer did something stranger..it restarted but normally when my computer normally restarts it bypasses the password page setup in bios of the computer. This time I still had to enter a password before it could reboot.Another thing...when it the ethernet cable was connected to the computer (internet connection was on) it was slow when it was unplugged it was not.I have read that unless you're running a server or something it is highly unlikeley you'll be hacked.

m trying to compile a package hdf-1.6.8 for openSUSE 11.0. But i think there is a problem when gcc 4.3 is used. The make fails giving errors like:
Quote:
In file included from H5IdComponent.cpp:21: H5IdComponent.h:86: error: 'H5G_obj_t' does not name a type The header file has such entries:
Code:
H5G_obj_t p_get_refobj_type(void *ref, H5R_type_t ref_type) const;
Is this a cause for conflicts between gcc 3 and gcc 4. If so how do i rectify the same? I have compat-ltdc++ installed. Similar errors are sure to follow during the compilation process.

I wanted to install an rpm package on two suse 10 systems. It installed successfully on one system but on the other it throws an error like
Code: error: Failed dependencies: rpmlib(PayloadIsLzma) <= 4.4.2-1 is needed by linuxProj-1-1.noarch
Now this means that rpnm package has no error but the rpm in itself is lacking some libs. So can anyone tell me that how can I download and add these libs to the already installed rpm. Note the difference between rpm and rpm package.

I received a few updates today, one of which is mplayer. Now mplayer is broken and from what I can gather it's because it's incompatible with the version of ffmpeg I have installed. But the real problem is that mplayer and ffmpeg were originally installed from the debian-multimedia repo but the update for mplayer is from the debian repo. I can't go back because this new mplayer is dependent on libdirectfb-1.2-9 whereas mplayer from debian-multimedia is dependent on libdirectfb-1,2-0.
In case you want the error from mplayer:
mplayer: relocation error: mplayer: symbol codec_wav_tags, version LIBAVFORMAT_52 not defined in file libavformat.so.52 with link time reference

I have two brand new (less than 60 days old) Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016. Neither will boot the live CD of 10.10-64, but the CDs work in other computers and I have installed successfully half a dozen times off of them. I get the initial text across the top, there is a momentary splash of the Ubuntu logo with a little battery symbol, then the screen goes black with a little flashing prompt in the upper left. That is all it will do until I hard reboot it. I made the USB boot off the CD and tried that. It never gets beyond the initial text "syslinux 3.82 2009-06-09 EBIOS ..etc".
I re-installed 10.04, replacing 10.10 and everything works fine on both laptops. Several hours later (something really needs to be done about how long it takes to upgrade) when the new upgrade is complete, it will no longer boot. Of course the default GRUB menu choice is 2.6.35-22. I assume this is the kernel number. If I pick 2.6.32-25 it boots just fine and "about" says that I am running 10.10, so I am just baffled. I know how to set GRUB to boot of this option by default, but i would like to fix the problem, not put a band-aid on it.
In case someone else has this model, it uses an audio chipset I have not seen. Win 7 reports it as "Realtek High Def audio" AND "ATI HDMI Audio". Ubuntu lists two, one generic Internal Audio, the other RS880 audio device[Radeon HD 4200]. What makes it odd is that if you want to use the head phone jack to connect to an external sound system, you have to turn it on with software inside Windows. In Ubuntu, there is no corresponding software so when you plug something in, the internal speakers turn off, but nothing comes out of the headphone jack.

When I compile PHP using --with-mysql I am getting this error in config.log:
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so when searching for -lmysqlclient
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.a when searching for -lmysqlclient
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient
I've done some searching and it appears this has to do with LD not having the correct path to the library, however, /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ contains a file pointing to /usr/lib64/mysql and a file pointing to /usr/lib/mysql. libmysqlclient.so exists in both directories. The PHP makefile has this line:
EXTRA_LDFLAGS = -L/usr/kerberos/lib64 -L/usr/lib64/mysql -L/usr/lib64 -L/usr/lib64/lib

I am fairly new to ubuntu. I have to compile some libraries under ubuntu in a directory other than the default directory and then get the shared object libs (.so) libs for building some custome kernels. I created a directory structure as follows:
/home/username/build-target
/home/username/src-<libname> =>here are the source files for the lib. I need to compile
Now I create a directory /home/username/src-openssl and download the source code and untar it under this directory and issue ./configure --prefix=/home/username/build-target --exec-prefix=/home/username/build-target and then make and make install. I was expecting that the shared object libraries created (.so) files should have gone under /home/username/build-target/libs, however I just see only libssl.a and libcrypto.a and not .so files under the build-target/lib directory. For grep also I did the same thing as above however I don't see any lib directory created under build-target directory as I was expecting.
