Ever since openSUSE 11.4, some of applications are themed incorrectly.All my Qt apps look fine, so I figured it might have something to do with GTK. However, my GTK settings indicate that GTK apps also use the Oxygen theme.Why are these apps using this unknown theme?
View 6 RepliesI want to use my QTCurve theme for GTK apps. This has worked great for several months on opensuse 11.2, and suddenly it broke. I do not know what made it broke, purhaps some kind of system update...The gtk-Qtcurve engines are installed (both 32 and 64 bit). I tried linking the gtkrc file from /usr/share/themes/QtCurve/gtk-2.0 towards /etc/gtk-2.0 but that didn't help either. I can change the GTK themes to whatever theme, except to QTCurve...
View 7 Replies View Relatedso normaly in order to change root qt/gtk app's theme in KDE, i have to run kdesudo system settings. I think it is possible via linking to have the root theme automaticly sync with my user theme, but i dont know which files to link.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince this morning, in a normal Gnome session, all of my GTK apps, menus and icons (except, oddly for the Gnome panel) are using the same drab and boring style that they use when they're running as root. Which they're not.No one else uses this computer, and I've made no changes to any GTK-based or affecting settings, except to try to change the GTK controls, with no effect at all. So I cannot understand why this is happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Fedora 15 this afternoon, and for the most part there weren't any serious issues with it (except for rpmfusion lagging on a F15 yum repo). I installed the XFCE spin, and a lot of GNOME-specific apps don't respect my GTK+ theme at all. Screenshot: [URL]... On the left are two "XFCE" apps (Mousepad and Task Manager), on the right are two GNOME apps (gedit and the NetworkManager "Connection Information" window). Is there an easy way to fix this? I have a custom Murrine theme set, but the problem is still there using the built-in themes such as Glossy too.

I have Debian Testing. My theme is Equinox Light and it was working well except for "Passwords and Encrypton keys" app (Version3.02). That doesn't bothered me. But after todays upgrade from gnome-terminal (2.3.2-1) to gnome-terminal3 Equinox theme doesn't work. My themes are installed in /usr/share/themes folder. It doesn't matter if i copy them to my home theme folder. It seems that gnome3 apps doesn't support
Reverting to previous version fixes the problem but i want to have version 3 with nice theme. Ho w can i achieve it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently installed opensuse 11.4 on a remote server. It has GNOME installed as a desktop. The problem I am experiencing is that when logged in through VNC, most of the GUI apps are not functioning, especially ones that require root privs. Example: The Add/Create users context does not function. After you supply root pw, nothing happens. If you launch it from a terminal, you see this:

I tried posting this before and I'm not sure what happened but I don't think it worked, so if it did please forgive the double post.am very very new to centOS and linux in general. I just want to setup a test web server that more closely mirrors our actual web server that is hosted by rackspace. I've installed centOS and tried to setup Apache, PHP and MySQL from a guide on the web using Yum. When I go to localhost in the web browser I'm able to see the default apache page. I've been searching alot on the internet and I know the issue is permission related, but I don't know how to fix it. I've seen some forum posts that say you need to use the chmod 775 command on the /var/www/html folder.Currently when I do ls -l /var/www/html it returns

I'm sure that this isn't correct but like I said I don't know much about how to set permissions or who the owner needs to be. I've done alot of searching and seen similar posts, but no one seems to explain it clearly.
For some reason, from time to time on login, as my normal theme starts to load, it changes to some sort of silver theme (a very basic one), and I am unable to change it over to any other theme. Checking the theme being used, it still says my desired one is set, but it is not. Also, no matter what theme I change it to, that basic silver theme is the one being used. This includes a default icon theme, not the one I prefer.
The only option that seems to fix things is a restart, and the hope that on this login it won't mess up like before.I am using Natty, from a fresh install, with Ubuntu Classic as my desktop, and have reinstalled things more than once to try and fix a few of the Natty-related issues, but this one keeps coming back.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my laptop from F12 to F14 via preupgrade. After doing so, the standard mouse theme was active. So I installed the one I like again and set it as mouse theme. For some reason it is now a mixture of the one I installed and the standard theme. If I open a place in nautilus the displayed symbol is the right one while waiting, if I open something in control center I get the standard icon. Same problem with drag and drop, I always get the hand from the standard theme. I also tried the former standard theme Bluecurve and it was the same problem.Can anyone tell me what goes wrong with the theme? What has changed in F14, that the older themes won't work?

to /etc/profile all QT5 apps should use the gtk theme but for some reason this doesn't seem to work.
Adding -style=gtk to the launcher options works but I want to change the theme setting for all QT5 apps.
I enjoy using vim from lxterminal with the black background, as well as awesome with its dark theme. I configured xfe manually to be darkish, and i use darklooks as a GTK theme to suit it as well. I could say all my desktop looks pretty dark, which my eyes thank me for. I also use redshift.But problems come along when surfing the web. Most web pages (including this one) have very bright styles. They are not the problem themselves, but switching from my windows hurts my eyes since it's a quick change to a much brighter screen.What would you do, either:
1. Use everything with a brighter background and putting the screen brightness a bit lower. (changing the GTK theme to clearlooks, using lxterminal with a white background, etc.)
2. Use some color theme with uzbl so that pages would look much darker. (like when you set manually the text and background colors in Firefox/Iceweasel)
I would myself go with the second one if most pages wouldn't look that bad when modified that way. For example, many pages use non-transparent images with white backgrounds on white pages, so if you change the background to black not only it looks horrible but it too is a mess.
I want to use gtk-theme-switch to change my theme in openbox (would rather not use any gnome/kde/etc.. tools for this), but after installing it I cannot get it to run:

I installed a theme in emerald, and it didn't do anything, like, it had no effect on my windows or anything. So i did some searching and the only thing i could find was to run "emerald --replace" in the terminal, and it worked, but if I exit out of the terminal, it reverts back to the old theme.How do I keep emerald's theme, even after I exit the terminal?

OpenSuse11.3 had them but 11.4 doesn't!I searched for apps like skype,isomaster,acetoneiso,openbravo erp,gsmartmon,smooth-task etc but didn't get any result. I have contrib and pacman repos enabled, still no luck...all the above mentioned apps were available in 11.3 then why not in 11.4..is it 'coz it released recently?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem and I havent got a clue what the cause is. Since last week, I have noticed that my TWO computers (running opensuse 11.1) have problems dealing with some websites:
1) My bank virtual office: [URL]...No matter which user/pass i put, i get a "a problem has ocurred" screen. It happens under firefox and opera. Konqueror in KDE3/4 does not even show the login box!? Try 12345678 for user and 1234 for password if you want.
2) Rumbo travel: I can search flights but if I click to start the booking process it says "YOUR BROWSER has detected an error" and goes back to front page. Same thing happens with firefox and opera, NOT with Konqueror. Both messages are generated by the remote servers (not by my browsers).
Some facts to take into account:
1) It has been happening for about one week or two
2) This problems happen exactly the same way on two computers running opensuse 11.1. The only big difference among them is the kernel (2.6.33 and 2.6.27 for the other)
3) Problems affect Opera and Firefox. Konqueror acts weird on the Bank site.
4) Problems DO NOT exist in other computers running windows or linux. Its not a problem on the websites. And they used to work well.
5) Problems persist in my computers, when connecting through different networks (university, home...), by wifi or ethernet. Other boxes do not suffer them in the same environments.
6) Yes, i have cleaned up cookies, browsers cach etc...
7) I have downgraded firefox and opera, and problems persist still.
8) I have turned off SuSEfirewall and with no luck.
9) There are no relevant messages in any logs or browser console (just some warnings about "rejected declarations" etc. but no difference of what i have seen on other boxes that actually work)
The only thing i can think that is common layer on both sites is SSL encrypted connection and javascript, and im not sure Opera and Firefox share any of that, and the problem is still there!.
After a series of unrelated problems with my mouse (that had nothing to do with suse) I opened a process but I don't know what is it. It looks like a series of micro-post-its in the bottom of my desktop:Also, I checked the option to start a new session every time I start KDE, but this keeps appearing.

Any time I try to install a theme I get an error that it's "appears to not be a valid theme" When I first click the install button and navigate to my theme packages, I don't see the [dot] theme file, which is a red-flag. I change to "All files" and I tend to see an "index.theme". Is this the correct file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried openSUSE 11.2 live and I've appreciated very much the default theme.
In 11.2 you can change theme by right-click on wallpaper->Dekstop Settings->theme.
In 11.3 there's no more that "Desktop Settings" voice from right-click's menu, there's only a "Desktop Activity Settings" which only let me choose wallpaper.
I've saved from live cd icons, themes and wallpapers of 11.2 and now I want them all in 11.3 as I don't like its default theme.
I have noticed that are a few applications (non part of the kde apps) that do not launch with alt + f2 (command name). Instead I have to use konsole first and write the command name, then the apps appears successfully.
The same problem I have of course with the same apps if I make a desktop shorcut. These apps never show up! Thus I would like to ask you what should I do to make these shortcuts and alt+f2 launches to work.
I am experiencing a problem with virtual box 4. Did an install from binary, and everything went ok and virtual box launches, but once I have created the virtual disk and the want to run it, I get an error, and the log says that it has to do with the ext4 filesystem and has a known kernel bug. How does one go about sorting this out. Here with the log from virtual box.
