Is there a way to set the default when clicking on a folder to open in new window? The default action appears to open in the same window. I've gone though every Dolphin option I can find, and there does not appear to be any setting that affect this. Konqueror DOES have a setting, but it seems to be ignored. I am running Suse 11.3, KDE 4.4.

After running an update this morning, my terminal comes up in the install default size. Using the preferences dialog, I cannot find the control to set the default width. Has it been removed? I hope I'm looking in the wrong place, but I have a chilling feeling that it's been dropped or perhaps just accidentally commented out.

I installed privoxy and tor and chained them from squid so it looks like this: iceweasel >> squid >> privoxy >> tor. All is working well except when I go to edit my privoxy default.action file I get a fatal error. I've got version 3.0.9-1 The original line in the newly installed default.action file. #+hide-referer{forge}

I have accidentally set my default option for a blank disc and told it not to ask me again. When I put a disc in, it runs that option and I can do nothing else unless I open up a different program manually. How do I access and edit this option again?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Gnome desktop in openSUSE 11.3. I've set the "Command" to gnome-terminal --geometry=80x58 for the Gnome terminal in its Launcher Properties. This opens a terminal of the size I want every time I click it. However, when I right-click the desktop and click "open in terminal" it opens a terminal of a much smaller size and I can't figure out how to correct this. The same thing happens when I click:
File->Open Terminal from a terminal window, and also when
I click File->Open in Terminal from from the File Browser.
Why am I getting a much smaller window and how to fix?

I'm running OpenSuse 10.3 and I've tried to set permissions on my folder and subfolders from root:root to wwwrun:www. In the shell it shows all folders and files with the correct permissions, but in the GUI it still says root:root and so my web application can't write to it, until I manually set the subfolders permission in the GUI.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is a new, two days since release 11.2 install on a freshly formatted drive. I lost the KDE 4.3 default semitransparent Desktop Window with all the desktop folders. I believe what happened was when the mouse went across this window, the window side pop out with the X at the bottom appeared, the mouse pointer continued onto the "old style" desktop far away from this pop out and I clicked on blank "old style" desktop. This window appears to have treated this as selecting the X in the pop out, which I probably went over without clicking on my way past it and this window is gone. I have changed to "folder view" since I can't figure out how to restore this window for the "default desktop view".
How do you restore the semitransparent default Desktop Window when its no longer in its own "view"? The jury is still out on the obviously improved, but still not ready for prime-time KDE 4.3. I feel like a Microsoft OS user being forced into using a "new" burdensome/buggy interface I don't want or need at all. Even the KDE 4.3 manual admits some things (only some?) will not work as expected. The KDE 3.5 interface did everything I "needed" quickly and without problems. I've already had enough abuse from MS, please stop emulating them.
I installed the xrdp rpms as detailed by swerdna. I would like the pulldown menu to default to kde instead of twm. How can I change the configuration files to allow that.

I can't find anything now other than changingthe font size, and it's not permanent. The console window covers the whole screen,but I sometimes want to drag it smaller, which I can't seem to do now.

I have setup up an Opensuse as a simple we/application server.It handles requests for various things and will need to send out email on occasion for things like password reset requests, information / warnings etc. etc.This is a standard OPenSuse 11.x install with defaults so it comes with Postfix as the mta.I do not want a mail server I just want to send out via my clients mail server which is hosted exchange rackspace, which simply requires SMTP auth to do so.What would be the proper way to do this so ALL e-mail send from this machine, regardless of account like WWWRun or when logged in and sending from the command line has the same sender all the time.

I have desktop effects on and window shadows enabled. The main windows don't seem to follow this, nor does any taskbar pop-ups when you hover your mouse over them. I even set the shadow settings to high/annoying settings but I only see it on context/right-click menus.
I don't like the blue shadow because it is too light, but I can't seem to find where to change it. This seems to also apply to in-active windows as far as the size of the shadow but with a gray shadow instead. Still, if the desktop effects were effecting this, then the shadows I see should be large. Plus, desktop effects only give you one color choice with it just being darker on the active window. How to change this?
In 11.3, if in "/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0" i set DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE="no" this seems to have no effect. If i start my box, the routing table has the "default route"-entry offered by a remote DHCP-Server. More Info: My Susebox has eth0 and eth1 and both network devices should use DHCP4. But from DHCP-offer on eth0 i want to use

I have Suse 11.4 and GNOME 2.32.1 When I click on Computer -> Places -> Home then VLC Media Player opens instead of the window with my home folder that should actually pop up. The same thing happens with all other icons in the Places tab.

View 3 Replies View Relatedunder 11.2/KDE 4.35 I'm not able to move through the directory tree, neither with dolphin nor with konqueror.
If I click on a folder, a plus or minus sign appear alternately, but the folder isn't opened.
If I double-click on the folder icon, nothing happens.
So under 11.2 I just can not access the files stored under a previously installed 11.1 in the home tree (i.e in a separate partition on that HD) !
Is my machine too slow ? Do I have hardware too old (Pentium III Katmai on an Intel mainboard with onboard graphics) ?
i'm not sure for using the correct channel here but i hope someone out there can answer my little questions. 1st in older version i was able to change the settings of the terminal look as the font color, background color and so on. I was also able to define a default window size of a new terminal window. But since after upgrading to to the first release this year and a complete new installation of the current release Maverick i do not find this option anymore. Is there a way how to set up the terminal default window size?

I have already had Vista installed on another drive and from what i've read on the webs you get to dualboot if you install ubuntu after vista. when i did install it (i installed on a blank hdd with no partitions, choosing the "erase entire disk" option since for some reason default option was attempting to eat a part of my windows 1 gb drive instead of using disk i specially made for it) and the grub 2 loaded for the first time, there was NO option to run vista. only 2 linux (normal and recovery) and 2 memtests. I've ran linux and went to google this. I found that i should add something to some config files in /etc/grub.d/From reading the readme file i understood i could add my own files that are named like NUMBER_SOMENAME and insert code into them.
