I would like to disable the action that says "Download photos with digiKam" in KDE4 when inserting a storage-device such as a USB Stick. I have played around with the Device Action settings and the rule Download photos with digiKam but with no success.I have tried to set..
"All of the contained conditions must match"
"The device's property StorageVolume.igonerd" -> true
"The device's property StorageVolume.fsType" -> dummy
I'm running opensuse 11.3 with KDE 4.5.1 and Digikam 1.4.0. In Dolphin I use ffmpegthumbnailer to produce thumbnails of videos and I like how it works.
My question is how do I get Digikam 1.4 to use ffmpegthumbnailer instead of mplayerthumbnailer?
I wonder if there is an option to select one set of dups to erase. So far i think you can only delete individual images, which might take a long time. Is there any other way to speed deletion a bit? I checked the manual, but it doesn't talk a lot of it. Or is there by any chance another add on?
Currently trying to use digikam on Suse 11.3. Databases digikam4.db and thumbnails digikam.db to not seem to exist on the original download nor anywhere I can find from trusted sources. Is there hope or should I look for another photo application?
digikam doesn't start ~/.kde4 has been reset tried to copy ~/.kde4previous/*/*digikam* to .kde4 related paths running from console: riccardo@homeSUSE:~> digikam digikam: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libdigikamcore.so.1: undefined symbol: _ZN6Marble12MarbleWidget11changeEventEP6QEvent
i run right now digikam and rebuild my thumbnails. It seems like that this task takes a lot of cpu power and its not digikam itself, rather xorg takes the load. Is this right? I just wonder.
I attempted to install the latest version of Digikam, v1.6, by connecting the Factory repository , then an upgrade via YAST. It automagically included upgrade of certain kde4 packages to v2.5.80.
System ran OK for a while, then I got a Plasma Desktop Shell crash notice and now cannot restart X. I can boot to level 3. I upgraded all the kde components to 2.5.80, but that did not help.
Has anyone successfully done this? Was there a hidden secret to success?
If all else fails, am I correct that Code: zypper dist-upgrade --from #kde45 repository will return my system to kde 4.5.4 ?
Nokia 6270 not automatically recognised by 11.2's digikam. slowly through the process of getting it to work as a SCSI-USB device-if that's appropriate. NOOB at work.
Running openSuSE 11.1 and Digikam 1.1.0 under KDE 4.4.1 with most recent updates as of today. I started digikam and all settings are still in place and database file exists same as always. All subcollections in the albums show zero pictures. Opening file manager shows all contents exists.
I used to plug in my camera into the USB interface and was able to open the picture storage with the KDE file manager - the file manager came up automatically.
Now since I have installed openSUSE 11.2, digikam insists to take over.
How can I configure SUSE 11.2 that it offers me the file manager option again? It would be great (but not necessary) if it offered a selection "Open with ..." when the USB cable is plugged in.
Digikam will not rotate images. Worked fine in all previous versions. Tried installing 1.3 from this repo
Index of /repositories/KDE:/UpdatedApps/openSUSE_11.3 per this thread opensuse - exif and gwenview but 1.3 failed to launch. De-installed 1.3 and re-installed 1.2 from release repos.
From reading the above thread perhaps a patch will soon be released?
I am absolutely new to linux env. I have installed opensuse 11.2 with KDE desktop on my HP pavilion dv9700 Laptop. But I am having problem configuring my webcam. I have skype installed on my laptop and webcam is working OK with skype but when I run Opensuse program Digikam, it doesnt detect any camera.
I'm using digikam 0.10.0 under openSUSE 11.2/KDE4.3. When trying to upload pictures to Flickr (i have an account and authorising the flickruploadr was successful) by using the export function I get a message saying (in German): Es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten (= error): Ungltiger Frob (=invalid frob).
- about the reason for this error - what a frob is - what needs to be tweaked in order to correct this
Suse 11.2 and kde, I'm trying to set up a screensaver. All the facilities seem to be there when I go System>Desktop and set the required details, but then I find the screensaver is non-operative, the screen just going blank after the preset time delay.
The set-up system does do the demo of the screensaver OK, so the software for it must be there and at least partly accessible. But it doesn't seem to get through to the system.
I have just installed openSuse 11.4 on my Acer Aspire 5738Z. When I click on the action button included in the bottom panel, I expect to open a windows asking me if I want to shut down, restart, or log off. But unfortunately, when I click on it, I am not offered any option and I get immediately logged off. I removed the button from the panel and installed it again, but it still dysfunctions.
Is there a way to set the default when clicking on a folder to open in new window? The default action appears to open in the same window. I've gone though every Dolphin option I can find, and there does not appear to be any setting that affect this. Konqueror DOES have a setting, but it seems to be ignored. I am running Suse 11.3, KDE 4.4.
I've a fresh, default installation of opensuse 11.4 with KDE and I've added some programs like yast or firefox into the KDE desktop. Howto disable/remove small action menu's from the desktop icons?
BTW I try to add a small 29KB png image into this posting, to show what I exactly mean, but it doesn't work.
When I start bluej and try to open files from my memory stick the memory stick is not available. Is there any way that I can open files directly in bluej from my memory stick.
i was writing a .img file to my usb stick with ImageWriter, but it didn't seem to do anything so i clicked the close gtk button and pulled the stick out of my pc. now my pc gives my an when i try to open the stick. is there any way to fix this. I can use win xp pro, win xp media center, win 7 starter, ubuntu 9.10 and ubuntu 10.04
Is it possible to map the same "Present Windows - All Desktops" action which is invoked by activating the top left corner of active screens via a keyboard shortcut? I basically want to ape OSX and have an expose-like button, the screen edge works fine for now, but I would love a keyboard shortcut also. Is it possible? Also, when I set up a custom keyboard shortcut to run yast, I initially tried using the same command from the KDE menu: /usr/bin/xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2
However, when I use the keyboard shortcut to launch this command, I get problems when trying to use zypper after the initial launch using the keyboard shortcut(from yast GUI or CLI). The error basically states another instance of yast2 already exists. The problem is only with the app/repo management modules though; for instance I can launch yast (using keyboard shortcut or start menu) and access hardware info, sudo users etc, I just can't access software/repo management stuff. Even when I kill the offending PID from the CLI I still get the error and have to restart the box to rectify it proper. So I changed the keyboard shortcut command to : /usr/bin/kdesu /sbin/yast2
and this seems to have resolved the problem. My second question is what is the difference between the two in this particular instance and why does one cause problems (xdg-su) and the other does not (kdesu).
I'm about to ditch Freenas as my NAS software and make it an Ubuntu server box. The mainboard is an Asus AT3ION-T dual core Atom board. Freenas runs happily from USB stick. I have no optical device to install Ubuntu from and would like to install Ubuntu Server to a USB stick.
I'm going to boot up a desktop (that has a cd burner) from a USB stick of openSUSE 11.3. Will I be able to burn an iso (that's on the desktop's harddrive) to CD, i.e. can I use the cd burner, if I've booted from a USB stick?
I'm installing 11.3 from USB stick. I went through the partition screen, etc and it did not mention anything about any data or other stuff on the harddisk. but when I got to the "Live Installation Settings" page, it shows the booting sections as:
+ openSUSE 11.3 (default) + openSUSE 11.2 - 2.6.31.12-0.2 (/dev/sdb2) + Linux Other + Failsafe -- openSUSE 11.3
how do I blow those others away? I want them erased aand don't want them in grub or "installed around", rather, I want it "installed over" them. Also, the "Linux Other" is the USB stick. Is it a problem to have that?
