OpenSUSE :: Recompiling VirtualBox Vboxadd Kernel Module, NOT. It Has Been Packaged

I just up-graded to the latest version of the stable 11.4 64bit kernel on my laptop and it appears that the repositories have not compiled the VirtualBox driver module for the current kernel ... When I make /vboxdrv setup the message is:
Recompiling VirtualBox vboxadd kernel module, NOT. It has been packaged
I think this means that the installed module will not recompile has it was packaged. My kernel version is the lattest :
2.6.37.6-0.5-1
And my VirtualBox was installed from the Virtualization repos (4.0.8.11-1) even made the Vendor change and all. The version Before the lattest (4.0.4-1.6) did not work either. With the same problem. It is very easy to install VirtualBox from the Sun site and every time there is a Kernel up-date one can always make /etc/vboxdrv setup.
if i wanted to just download and install a module, how does centos have it where i don't have download the source and recompile the whole kernel withthe module enabled? i read about install kernel-devel but nothing much more on using it. for instance, if i wanted to download ext4 module and have the kernel use it?

I am seeing quite a few entries about the usb. I am not sure if that is common or if its unrelated. I am running x86 11.3, and virtualbox 4.0.4 I have tried to uninstall, and even go back to 3.2
I have installed Virtualbox PUEL in 64-bit 11.3. This is a fresh install. My computer has an onboard nvidia 8300GS graphics card. I do not think this is related to the issue. I'm running Virtualbox from the Sun website (need the USB support) and it breaks after each kernel update.The problem is that I installed a lot of Ubuntu systems for transitioning windows users with Windows in virtualbox to ease the migration but I have to rerun vboxdrv setup after each kernel patch.

I am new to fedora core and needs desperate help.Now what i can notice is the kernel files doesnot match. will this makes a difference..what do you think ? How can i make the VirtualBox kernel module status [OK] ?
I download "VirtualBox-3.1.2-56127-Linux_amd64.run" and installed it, and got a messages like this " virtualbox have been installed successfully in my system", but when I run virtualbox, I've been told "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup" something like that. And I run virtualbox in terminal, got this:

I had an issue with the module build for vbox 3.1.2 breaking on the latest kernel ( /etc/rc.d/rc.vboxdrv setup ). Apparently the issue is that a kernel header (autoconf.h ) has changed its location in the module tree and hence the issue.
2 options:
1. upgrade to 3.1.4
2. create a symlink as follows
cd /usr/src/linux/include/linux ln -s ../generated/autoconf.h autoconf.h
I generally check what updates are being installed. This time sadly I didn't and again this kernel had one missing module. VirtualBox-OSE stopped working. It had been working fine with other upgrades. No it's not a problem with dkms or other stuff. This kernel doesn't have vboxdrv module like other kernels...i verified it...

The 2.6.38.8 version doesn't have vboxdrv module!....hence again I have to roll back to older kernel. So before blindly upgrading....read this message!
I'm trying to get Virtualbox up an running. So I have added virtualbox in my repo and added the key, looks fine so far. but afeter downloading I get this:

I am running Lenny and using VirtualBox OSE 1.6.6. In order to try squeeze I installed it in a VM. I tried to install Guest Additions also, but i get this error:

I checked what /var/log/vboxadd-install.log had to say:

I tried with 3 versions of the kernel 2.6.32-5-686,2.6.32-5-484,2.6.32-3-686 but I cannot get it to work using any of them. Also I tried to install version 2.6.30-2-686 but I couldn't since synaptic said that it Depends: linux-kbuild-2.6.30 but it is not installable.
I was trying to install VirtualBox through the YaST > Software Management but it is not working, someone in the forum told me that I have to download the OSE version and do it manual way. Finally I am able to start up VB but not able to use the network connection. Thus I am trying to do this:

When I type dmesg, it shows me a bunch of info which I don't know what should look for. When I type modprobe vboxnetflt, I get the error: FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-default/updates/vboxnetflt.ko): Invalid module format. what should I do in order to get my VB to be able to connect to the internet?
Today is two out of three boot messages fixed. Working on the third one now, and that relates to virtual machines. The whole Virtual machine thing is new to me. Never used it, but I'd like to start. Therefore, I am no longer willing to just ignore this. The error message during boot is this:

If I compile the kernel once fully and if I wan't to make a minor change how do I do that without having to go through the whole recomiliation? Commands like "rpmbuild -bb" and "make rpm" seem to recompile everything but it should just compile the changes I made.I'm using Fedora 12 with the latest stable kernel.
I only have basic experience recompiling a Linux kernel, and I have a question about adding dynamic modules.In case I want to add a brand new module, do I need to recompile the kernel to include a reference to that new module, or is simply compiling a kernel with generic support of dynamic modules all it takes to add whatever modules I need later on, without recompiling the kernel and rebooting the host?
I'm just installed OpenSuse 11.3 (64) on a 30gb SSD, hoping to get virtualbox 4.0 running to virtualize an instance of Windows 7.I went through some pain with my Nvidia video card and actually getting vb to install, but through lots of searching and tinkering got here.I created a vm in the vb control panel, but when I go to start it I get:

i installed SLES 11 sp1 as guest on openSUSE 11.3 host, then change the adapter network from 'NAT' to 'Bridged Adapter', but when i hit start i got this error message: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine sles. Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-wlan0' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). One of the kernel modules was not successfully loaded. Make sure that no kernel modules from an older version of VirtualBox exist. Then try to recompile and reload the kernel modules by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). but when run: sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
i have recompiled kernel on my netbook (lenovo s10-3t).suspend works correctly but then i cannot wake up. i think i just missed some kernel options.what options must be set for suspend/wake up?
How do I force recompilation of the kernel .deb packages. After a small change I make to the sources without having to clean the sources and recompile the whole kernel again?

Calling the second command again does not recompile the modified code, just recreates the .deb packages.
If I use:

How can I force recompilation of the files/objects I changed (and dependencies)?

I use CentOS 5.3 with kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5 for Clonezilla. It would be simpler for me if any of IDE or SATA drives detects as /dev/sdX device. Because when I cloning computers with Clonezilla it is matter which type of drive connected to cloned computer. So I must firstly clone computers with IDE drives, after that with SATA drives. If all drives would detected as /dev/sda I would can clone all computers at once! Is there simple way to enable new libata library without recompiling kernel? Is there already compiled kernels with this feature?
I have been trying to run my vmachines in virtualbox with no success so I decided to install upgraded packages for upgraded kernel, this means to install them from Virtualization-kernel-HEAD repo.The error is about that known issue where the kernel module can't start.
It is bad enough that the kernel gods have basically required that the whole kernel source tree be installed and configured to compile even a simple module but they have made it so a module compiled on one kernel will not work on any other.
To make the situation worse much of the configuration needed to successfully compile a module has been left out of open suse11.3. If you want to replicate the problems may I suggest you attempt to compile the usb-skeleton.c driver example code that is included with each kernel. If it is the intent of the linux community to limit driver development to the professionals then congratulations.
I am working with OpenCL (note that is different from OpenGL) and recently upgraded from nvidia driver 190.29 to 195.36.15 . After a bit of experimentation i decided to downgrade back to 190.29
However after i did this X complains that i have nvidia kernel module 190.42 and it does not match with nvidia drive 190.29 . Could some one tell me how to recompile the kernel module for 190.29??
I'm using openSUSE 11.3 with an Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller. The kernel driver in use is i915, however, in another distribution of Linux, two kernel modules are loaded: i915 and intelfb. I would like to know how to load module intelfb in openSUSE 11.3 as it seems to significantly improve my video card's responsiveness.

Then i ran dmesg and there was a ton of stuff that seemed to be unreleated so i ran dmesg -c to clear it. then i ran the vboxdrv this again then checked dmesg again expecting there to be nothing but the vboxdrv stuff but it was still blank.I really dont know what to do at this point I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that makes no difference
