I want to setup my Epson Stylus (515W)-A letter before the 5 but not sure what. Basically when I open CUPS I click on add on new printer, I enter add printer but then the page says access denied. Also this is a network printer.
View 2 RepliesI'm new to openSUSE and have only used Ubuntu. I have a Epson Stylus NX110 all in one printer. All I really care about is the print capabilities, scanning is a secondary issue. Suse recognizes the printer but doesn't have a driver for it. On Ubuntu I had to use the NX105 drivers but they worked just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Epson stylus NX510 all-in-one printer (just the actual printer worked, couldn't get the scanner recognized) working in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. I'm currently attempting a dual boot with OpenSuse 11.3, but when I go to download the driver for it like I did in Ubuntu (and it worked) I get the following error messages:

I am trying to set up my Epson Stylus SX420W printer (via USB) on a fresh install of 11.4. I have found a driver called 'epson-inkjet-printer-nx420-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm', which I guess is right for my Intel Core i5-system on the Avasys-site that Epson refers to for Linux drivers.
I have downloaded the driver and installed it via Right-Click -> Open With -> Install/Remove Software, which seemed to go well. When I open Yast -> Hardware -> Printer -> Add, my printer is found all right, but 'No matching driver found'. Iam quite new to Linux.
In 11.3 I used an Epson Stylus Color 600 which worked well enough.
Now I'm quite disappointed that this so called 'best version ever' (11.4) refuses to recognize this printer.
The modules parport, parport_pc, and lp are all loaded. My printer is on and connected, but OpenSuse claims that there is nothing.
I have epson stylus sx 218. I installed drivers from avasys and tried to configure it in [url]. The first test page was good but after restarting the printer can not print.

New printer/ New network printer. where i get an error message "Not authorized - this password may be incorrect". I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

Anyway, when I send something to print, CUPS say:

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running OpenSUSE 11.0 (64 bit). I have an Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer that used to work just fine. Apparently there was an update to the CUPS software that I applied and now the printer is no longer working.
Through examining the error_log file in /var/log/cups I found that two files were missing from /usr/lib/cups/filter. These files existed in the /usr/lib64/cups/filter directory so I linked them to the /usr/lib/cups/filter directory. That cleared up two errors.
When I send a "Print Self Test Page" command from the CUPS Printers page, I get the following error:
Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Print-Job (ipp://localhost:631/printers/EPSON_Stylus_Photo_R300) from localhost
When I attempt to send a print job from an application like gedit or OpenOffice Writer, I get the following error:

I've crawled all through the openSUSE forums and 'googled' all sorts of variations for these errors and found nothing useful. I'm hoping someone here might have a clue as to where I might go next to fix this.
Like I said, it was working before and now it's not so there must be something in a recent CUPS release that has messed things up.
I tried to connect this 3 in 1 device to opensuse 11.2 and none of the default drivers worked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk have setup my printer under suse 11.3 just fine and printing perfectly, and have added the printer to a windows 7 client, but had to get the disk to install the windows driver. Is there any way that i can put the windows driver on the linux machine so that when i go to a windows client and want to add the printer, i can just connect to the printer and the windows driver will be installed over the network like it does with windows servers?
View 4 Replies View Relatedone month at this stage and noticed recently that all automatic updates to my system have ceased, so I tried a zypper update from the terminal yesterday and believe it or not I got 1110 updates, about 7 deletions a 3 programs were changing architecture. This went all all day yesterday and finished sometime early this morning when I had to force a reboot as the shutdown button did nothing. After all those updates I do not notice any version upgrades for a few things I checked like Office, Amarok, DigiKAM etc but I am back to a most annoying problem that I had in my first few days i.e. my printer an Epson Stylus Color 760 is totally messing up 2nd and subsequent pages in a printout.
The last time this happened it seemed to sort itself out because deleting the printers discovered and their drivers did nothing. I am sorry to say it is putting me off SUSE 11.4 which I had liked BUT it is so frustating when I can't eben print more than one page correctly. I have come from Windows 7 where these problems did not exist.
the remote printer appears in cups but if I try to do a test page i get a page not found error. it even says ready under yast printers.it is set up on a remote desktop using cups

Is it necessary to open port 631 in YAST->Firewall->Advance- >UDP and IPP ?(TCP 631 already open) What services need to be running? Here is the error log :

View 3 Replies View Relatedwe are having new printers. At the moment we over 1000 machines on multiple sites but no print server they are manually added on the machine ( I know don't ask).
Anyway there is no way they would let use a windows server so the only option I have is to use linux however I little unsure if it is capable of doing the job I need it to do. Basically I want to add the printers on the linux server either using samba or ipp (I would assume samba would be best).
The reason i want to do this is when we have to do around the machines I just want to go around the machines and just the map the printer and it brings down the driver and config etc as we want them to duplex. The issue is I been trying to gain information on the internet and getting conflicting information apparently I can add the windows driver onto the server so when I map the printer it brings it down. However some guides state you still have through the whole process of adding the printer and then choosing the driver etc. Which kinda of makes it pointless to do the printer server since I would already have to do this anyway if we don't have one.
I just want to go be able to go around the machines and for example click star run and do something like \192.168.1.1printer01 and then it done kind of thing.
I've been using Ubuntu 10.10 for almost a year now and I'm really happy with it. I completely uninstall windows from my computer I'm able to do everything a used to do on Windows now on Linux, and even more... except for one thing... I cannot see the ink levels of my printer. It's a multifunction Epson Stylus TX110. I installed escputil and used the command "sudo escputil -i -u -r /dev/usblp0", the printer then starts making noise and no matter how long I wait, it never presents any info or displays the message: "device is busy" with no info about the ink levels.

I previously had an artisan 830 and it worked fine, however, this new printer is not recognized in the add printer application. So far I have install LSB 3.2, and then installed the rpm package for the artisan 835 using alien -i. Now I am at a loss for what to do.
