I've got 11.3 Gnome on my lenovo desktop and I'm trying to connect an Epson Workforce 610 via a wired network. I installed the driver from AVASYS and Linux Standard Base in accordance with instructions. The printer is found on the network but I still can't print.

I ordered a new printer yesterday... I am intending on using it with my Macs, but I am thinking I may want to print on it from my HP netbook running suse linux..The printer is an EPSON WorkForce 610 C11CA50201.
Does wifi printing work on linux? I haven't read anything saying it does, nor have I seen anything that says it doesn't.I also wanted to know if wifi scanning worked.
I downloaded the .rpm file for pipslite-1.4.0-5 and tried to install it using YaST, but it needs "libgdk-1.2.so.0". I was given the error "nothing provides libgdk-1.2.so.0 needed by pipslite-1.4.0-5.i386. I am currently running 32-bit OpenSUSE 11.3. Can anybody help me with installing pipslite? I googled libgdk and I notice that it's in gtk+, but I don't know how to install that either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Epson Artisan 835 network printer hooked up to my desktop. I am running a wubi install of 10.10 and cannot get it to find the printer. I previously had an artisan 830 and it worked fine, however, this new printer is not recognized in the add printer application. So far I have install LSB 3.2, and then installed the rpm package for the artisan 835 using alien -i. Now I am at a loss for what to do.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running ubuntu 10.04. I have an Epson Wprkforce 310 4 in 1. Connection is USB. I can print. I have searched for proper drivers for scanner and fax. I have found nothing for fax. I have found and installed at one time or another the following scanner drivers:

iscan_2.26.1-3_i386.deb
iscan-data_1.6.0-0_all.deb
iscan_2.26.1-3.ltdl7_i386.deb
The 1st 3 installed but nothing happened. When I installed the 4th, I got a message telling me about the scan app I have installed(default with ubuntu install). Hope welled up inside. When I opened the scan app, it said it could not find a scanner. WF 310 was on hoping for a driver.
I had a similar problem on 13.1, but was solved by this forum by copying 80-sane.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/ . With 13.37 the same trick doesn't work. Here is my scanimage output:

Now the only thing is that it is streaking in color mode. It gives a light shade at regular intervals down the page. I am somewhat new to Ubuntu and open source, converting from windows. I tried printing in windows to see if it was the printer. It prints fine in windows. [URL]
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've done some investigating on the threads, but none of the normal fixes for this permission problem work. I've added myself to the scanner and lp groups. I've also added the right device code to the epson configuration file under /etc/sane.d/ . Scanner is recognized and works under root.
When I "scanimage >somefile" in the console I get a permission error when I'm a regular user; when I do the same under root, it works. Likewise, my graphical scan frontends report that they cannot find the scanner when I am a regular user. I see alien bob had an old workaround at [url] but I don't think 13.1 has hotplug set up the same way anymore.

I have a Windows print server (Win XP SP2) and a 1 opensuse client. I have setup cups as per the following document:
Printer Sharing: Windows Print Server for Suse/openSUSE Linux Clients [Samba and LPD]
I am not using Samba. The setup went fine, but I am not able to print to it. There are other clients (all Windows) that are printing fine to this print server. The following is what I see in the /var/log/cups/error_log:

I am using DHCP in this LAN. Ping is working fine (client's hosts file updated with the print server's ip address.). This looks like a networking issue.
the remote printer appears in cups but if I try to do a test page i get a page not found error. it even says ready under yast printers.it is set up on a remote desktop using cups

We are set up with network printers here (all Windows), and I was wondering how to go about being able to print to one of the network printers from my Linux desktop. Can I even connect to the Windows network with this desktop (it is hooked up)? Understand, I do NOT want to screw up anything on the network - they won't let me play anymore if I do. If I download the Linux driver, what do I do next?
View 2 Replies View Relatedone month at this stage and noticed recently that all automatic updates to my system have ceased, so I tried a zypper update from the terminal yesterday and believe it or not I got 1110 updates, about 7 deletions a 3 programs were changing architecture. This went all all day yesterday and finished sometime early this morning when I had to force a reboot as the shutdown button did nothing. After all those updates I do not notice any version upgrades for a few things I checked like Office, Amarok, DigiKAM etc but I am back to a most annoying problem that I had in my first few days i.e. my printer an Epson Stylus Color 760 is totally messing up 2nd and subsequent pages in a printout.
The last time this happened it seemed to sort itself out because deleting the printers discovered and their drivers did nothing. I am sorry to say it is putting me off SUSE 11.4 which I had liked BUT it is so frustating when I can't eben print more than one page correctly. I have come from Windows 7 where these problems did not exist.
I'm new to openSUSE and have only used Ubuntu. I have a Epson Stylus NX110 all in one printer. All I really care about is the print capabilities, scanning is a secondary issue. Suse recognizes the printer but doesn't have a driver for it. On Ubuntu I had to use the NX105 drivers but they worked just fine.

I'm trying to configure my SX205 printer. It is well recognized, and Gutenprint driver are available. But the printer doesn't work, here are the error messages :
The PPD version (6341210) is not compatible with Gutenprint 5.2.5.
I am on opensuse 11.3; so the gutenprint version is 5.2.4, i don't know why it talk about 5.2.5. I have tried cups-genppdupdate but it doesn't change anything.
I tried to configure this printer and clicked on "add printer" but the drop down menu did not contain my printer. Does this mean that the printer driver does not exist?
When I tried to print out a test Open Office document it came up with "printer error" However Open Suse did recognise my printer as a DX6000.

I'm currently attempting a dual boot with OpenSuse 11.3, but when I go to download the driver for it like I did in Ubuntu (and it worked) I get the following error messages:

I am trying to set up my Epson Stylus SX420W printer (via USB) on a fresh install of 11.4. I have found a driver called 'epson-inkjet-printer-nx420-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm', which I guess is right for my Intel Core i5-system on the Avasys-site that Epson refers to for Linux drivers.
I have downloaded the driver and installed it via Right-Click -> Open With -> Install/Remove Software, which seemed to go well. When I open Yast -> Hardware -> Printer -> Add, my printer is found all right, but 'No matching driver found'. Iam quite new to Linux.
In 11.3 I used an Epson Stylus Color 600 which worked well enough.
Now I'm quite disappointed that this so called 'best version ever' (11.4) refuses to recognize this printer.
The modules parport, parport_pc, and lp are all loaded. My printer is on and connected, but OpenSuse claims that there is nothing.
Now to printers. The system searched for drivers-not found. This one doesn't seem to be supported. But is it ok to install some epson driver which would be closest to this model? And I count that only printing will work, but not scanning.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to print to a network printer from my 9.10 install. The printer is Canon_MF4360-4390, when browsing for printers, cups finds it immediately. I found drivers for this printer online (driver is called UFR_II_Printer_Driver_for_Linux_V200_uk_EN). The drivers installed without any problems.
I can go through cups and add the printer successfully. I can even print a test page that shows up in the queue as completed. However, nothing comes out of the printer. Also, there is nothing in /var/log/cups/error_log to show that an error has occurred.[URL]..
