I have an M-Audio Delta 44 sound card and I can't get jackd to start. It worked fine under SuSE 11.1 but under 11.2 it seems to be missing something. Here's the error messages I get when I try to start it code...
View 1 RepliesI want to use rosegarden purely for midi (i.e not audio, recording synths etc.) as my midi keyboard already has loads of great tones. When jackd is running, it really slows rosegardens performance, and the trouble is with the new rosegarden (10.04) jack is started automatically when you start rosegarden. Is there a way to prevent this? Please help, rosegarden is a great app but this is rather annoying. Uninstalling jack would be bad because other things I need use jack.

I am using ubuntu 10.10 server amd64. And i am using IDJC for online radio. My problem is jackd connections disconnect after one night. Because of that my radio stream disconnects. There is nothing wrong with idjc's settings.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been having troubles with having sound from my soundcard "M-Audio Firewire Solo" since I installed Ubuntu, more than 1 year ago.
Today, I have the sound from audacious 2 by using jack which means I can now listen music because audacious supports jack. what about other stuff?
I mean, forexample I cannot hear anything on ...... becouse firefox does not try to send the sound to the jack - or something like that I assume. So I think, there must be a way that I can hear all the sound that my computer produce. (welcome sound, pidgin sounds, video sounds, game sounds etc...)
So that, I am searching for a way that I can direct the whole sound to the JACK which can send the sound to my firewire soundcard and to my speakers.

What the hell is FFADO - Mixer? Is this problem have something to do with that? do I need to use jack always in order to have sound ? I am not going to produce something on ubuntu - I do it with Win. so All I need is to use my soundcard as a regular soundcard

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 and I have an external Sound card: Phonic Firefly 302.
I've connected the device, installed Jackd, added the lines:

logged out, logged back in, ran qjackctl (sudo qjackctl to be exact), ran the settings and chose "firewire" on the driver option, pressed "Start" and that was the output:

How do I get netjack to automatically patch to the (physical) system outputs when it connects to jackd?
Currently I have to open qjackctl manually and route netjack every time I log in. Is there a terminal interface for jackd or a special switch arg on netjack so I may automate this from a script?

VLC had been working well, but after some updates, it crashes after trying to start. When starting from the menu, it puts a slot in the taskbar and has the bouncing pylon for a few seconds, then those disappear. Running openSUSE 11.3, installed a month ago, and the only change I did from the default install was to update to kde 4.5 (along with usual updates).Since the upgrade, kmix doesn't start. When I click it, I see the bouncy kmix icon, and a new slot is opened on the task bar which reads 'kmix', but it shows nothing, and after a minute or so it disappears, along with the kmix bouncy icon.No error is given, so I tried to run from shell. This time when I try 'kmix' it does nothing at all (doesn't appear in 'jobs').
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith OpenSuSE 11.2, I would have a guest account running skype, and a media account running mythtv (both users logged in at the same time using switch user). I had skype on auto answer incoming calls, and I remember watching a movie when I suddenly heard my Dad's voice appear calling my name. That was cool!
Now that I'm using OpenSuSE 11.3 (both were using KDE), skype only plays audio when that user's session is active. Switching to the media account will prevent skype from starting to play any sound. Switch back, sound is normal. If I remember correctly, now the skype audio cuts out as soon as I switch user.
I also have a tv capture card which only STARTS to captures analog audio when the media session is active, mythtv being run by the user media. Once the show is started to record with sound, we can switch users and the show continue to record with sound.
The only thing that should be configured differently from the default install is that I compiled mythtv (it wasn't available as an rpm when I upgraded to 11.3, and haven't bothered to check since).
I have installed Hydrogen with the add & remove software which seemed to install fine in OPenSuse11.3 but when I click the icon nothing happens at all

I had the same error with earlier versions of WinFF in earlier versions of OpenSUSE. Then I could fix it by changing the KDE window styles. The error also occurs with the WinFF qt-version.

I have an 1TB hard drive, half of it for Windows XP SP3, another half for OpenSUSE 11.4. After installing OpenSUSE, it didn't take me much time to notice that there was something wrong with KDE: sometimes it loaded quite fast, as expected, but most of the time I'd have to wait around 1 minute in that loading screen. Then I updated the kernel, as well as KDE itself, but that didn't solve the problem.
After that I tried to start the system using Enlightnment, and it was lightning fast compared to KDE, however, I didn't quite like its interface, and for some reason GNOME refused to start. All that was too frustrating to me, so I gave up and have been using Windows for the last few weeks. Got sick of it now and here I am on OpenSUSE again. Oh, it feels sooo much better! BUT, I'm still with the same problem.
My specs are as follow:
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H (with updated BIOS, version F11)
Processor: AMD Phenom X3 8450
Memory: 2GB
Videocard: Nvidia Geforce 8500GT (using NVIDIA proprietary drivers)
OpenSUSE 11.4
KDE 4.6.0
Did I forget anything important?
Ps.: I didn't have these problems with Mandriva 2010.2, which, if I'm correct, used the same KDE version.
I have installed the package "Web and LAMPP Server" with the YAST2 installation manager on my openSuse 11.1. The installation runs well without any error messages. When I try to start Apache2 in the YAST2 runlevel manager or from the command line it fails.The start problem seems to me simular as amavis configuration. I have to configure /etc/amavisd.conf before a was able to start amavis in the YAST2 runlevel manager.
How can I make Apache2 to start? Do I have to configure a special file before I am able to start Apache2 in the YAST2 runlevel manager or why doesn�t Apache2 start?
When I login in the kde login in screen starts, but then I hear a beep and it freezes. If I hit ctrl-alt-f2 and log in and then type startx, a blinking curser appears and nothing happens.I am trying to set up VirtualBox to run Windows 7 and I am having trouble getting some usb devices to be recognized in Windows. I tryed following the advice of this link URL...After I added the group vboxusers to my user account and restarted the computer, this problem started.
I ran the command Code: Select alldeluser jrchristophel vboxusers, and I get the response back Code: Select allyou may not remove the user from their primary group.
The other things I did that might have caused this problem was that I installed virtual guest additions for VirtualBox, and one other addition that was needed for the USB functionality with in VirtualBox. I can't remember the name of that which I installed.I have looked at some of the logs in /var/logs.

I installed Gnome and tried startx but command not found. I installed Xinit but then I get :

My room mate is trying to use an old Dell he has as a print server. After much twisting his arm, I was able to convince him to go with Debian, which, I would install. I used a 5.0.4 Net Install CD I had, and included Desktop Environment (he needs a GUI), and Print Server. Basically, as usually happens when I install Debian, I am having trouble getting X to work. Heres what the errors look like after X fails:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to install Squeeze from the 6.0.1a KDE CD-1 plus the Debian repos. I just cannot get X to work. I get similar bad results to those mentioned by other users having similar problems, but none of the suggested fixes works.
Basic hardware information:
Desktop PC, whole 40 GB disk used for install
Graphics card: none Video controller on motherboard: VIA Technologies S3 UniChrome VGA controller (about 8 years old)
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 1280 x 1024 (about 8 years old)
Some things I've already tried: in rescue mode, as root, in /etc/X11X -configuremove file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf basically everything mentioned in threads in past two months regarding users who cannot get X to work reinstalling 100x with every choice for the installer I can think of
What happens: when doing the install, contrary to expectation, I am never prompted for any of the hardware information which the documentation at debian.org says I should have on hand (is that a good sign or a bad sign?)
No matter how I try to do the install,I always seem to get a nongraphical installation, so I try this: as root:apt-get install xorg in /etc/X11X -configthen move generated file (which looks like X didn't try to create an actual configuration file) to /etc/X11/xorg.config as non-root user:startx I get black screen (or a tiny tiny konsole at upper left) and system hangs
