View 9 RepliesI was going to get a player that would be compatible with rockbox, but instead I wound up with a coby 707 mp3 player. It's nice enough but dragging and dropping is all I can do to get music on it. I was wondering if there is a way to manually create a playlist and pop it in with the music files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a good mp3 player. I obviously dislike apple n windows so I wont buy an iPod or Zune player. Now I am wondering if any of you had good experience with any other mp3 player on Ubuntu. The two things I want are firstly a product of high quality n functionality like those two mentioned above AND secondly a seamless ubuntu compatibility. I'd love to see synchronization and stuff working out of the box. Anyone out there found a outstanding product and like to give a recommendation?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been away from Linux for a while, so I need to get informed about some of the 32- vs. 64-bit issues concerning video players and codecs. So, what is everyone using these days?
More specifically, is it possible to play, e.g., .wmv files with 64-bit Kaffeine (my favorite player) or any other 64-bit video player? If so, then which combination of player and codec should I use?
in software.opensuse.org site if we serch for a software the result will be like the following

I've just discovered the app TuneIn on my Android phone, it allows you to access radio stations that broadcast over the net, as well net-only ones, in an easy searchable interface (the 'backend' is the website radiotime.com).
Is there a way to do a similar thing on Opensuse? Currently I have a small list of stations in banshee which I had to manually add - a very painstaking manual process. Is there a plugin for banshee or another program that does this well?
I am looking to setup a box to play music from Pandora and mp3 audio files over a wifi connection which will also have the ability to control the player from an Android client.I have briefly looked at XBMC and Boxee, but I have no need to play video files, so I not sure if those are overkill for just playing Pandora.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried playing a movie on the computer and nothing happened. Thats when I figured out I don't have a program to play the movie so my question is what dvd player program is good? Also is the source and slackbuild going to be on the slackbuild website so I can download it? The reason I ask the last question is because I tried to install swiftfox and opera but they don't have the source or slackbuild for them. For an older version of opera they did have the slackbuild and source but not the new one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.
I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.
I installed everything and am running android OS on Ubuntu (using androidphonedriver guide). The problem I'm having now is that I don't know how to install android market application to be able to install other apps like opera etc.).

If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first).

I think I have installed vlc using yast2 & vlc's own repo from non oss dir but not from packmans repo.
I've been trying to play audio CDs in the CD/DVD drive on my machine but I can't get ANY CD Player software to recognize the drive. However, data CDs are read just fine. If I want to play a CD, I have to use the burner drive which is readily seen by all the audio CD software (KsCD, Kaffeine, etc.). I've added myself to the audio, video and cdrom groups but to no avail (I kinda knew it was fruitless to begin with but tried it anyway). I'm running 11.2, 64-bit mode and aside from this minor (but maddening) glitch, I've been very impressed with the distro. I don't want to use the burner for spinnin' platters.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been reading over lots of forum postings, etc on getting the Sirius/XM Player to run on OpenSuse 11.2. I have installed the Firefox plug-in MediaPlayer that allows me to change the player for different types of streams. I have installed the kmplayer as well as the xine-lib and opensuse-codecs. I can bring up the player and then it will show a stream playing but I don't hear anything. I configured my MediaPlayer to have all streams go to the kmplayer.

In the room here are 3 computers with outputs through a Behringer mixer to a Sony surround sound system--it sounds better plus I dont have the spider web of a separate sound system for each machine. 11.2-64 has been excellent so far with the exception of the music player--Amorak. Someone decided to leave out any sound contour tools. I also have Banshee and MPlayer but have experienced various problems with them. Amorak, at least for my use isnt too lame but whoever "They" are decided to do away with the graphic eq.I like the ability to build playlists with Amorak which is missing in some other programs without an exercise in file system manipulation. Any one have suggestions?? One note I will add here is that in Windows 7 64 bit professional, which I am forced to use because of no software for my work written in Linux, running on another machine here-- someone had what I consider the really excellent idea of incorporating a graphic equalizer on the machine output under the Realtek audio package..one eq to control all sounds from that machine--anything like that available for SUSe??

I was asked to make a slideshow of a series of JPEGs; I found the programme "imagination" that is available as an .rpm and I installed it with YaST;it worked well and I produced a couple of straightforward .vob files that could be started from a DVD player connected to a TV; (the intention);I would need to restart YaST to check; but I guess imagination is on packman It has a GU interface and worked well for me.

I do have vlc installed. I can choose to play videos with it when I right-click video files. But I'd like vlc to be the default so that I can just double click the video file and vlc plays it.It is a little bit confusing as totem is set as the default video player in the above-mentioned window, but when I double click a video file banshee starts

I'm struggling to find a way to sync my media player (Sony W995 - it just appears as a disk when plugged in, so it should be OK I think). I can kind of get something working by adding the mount point as a 'Local Music' folder. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way of 'syncing' to Local folders. Further more, my music collection is in FLAC format on my PC - but I need to transcode it to mp3 when syncing with my media player. Is this possible? I don't expect to be syncing the other way at all.
Otherwise, I'm stuck with manually transcoding/copying files with Dolphin
I wish to play a training video. When I click on the link I get a prompt to open with RealPlayer. Since I do not think I have RealPlayer installed I checked the link and it an .asx file. I guess it is a link for streaming the video. Whatever, which playing software should I install? I am aware of the multimedia tutorial on this site but am not clear on my objective as there are so many player options apparently available. It would help if I knew what I should be using to play these videos.

Im looking for a mp3 player that works out of the box with opensuse 11.04. By out of the the box i mean the the mp3 player will connect via usb and will work automatically with no need for drivers or command line changes. Ideally a player composed like a usb key in the sense that the player should have no moving parts (will be using the player in the gym a lot so player cant be fragile). I live in europe by the way.
