I am using 11.4 with kde4.6.0 and I have thunderbird installed, but the thunderbird does not appear under email applications in kickoff. I have set it as my default email program in settings. I installed Thunderbird via the opensuse "1 click install". the installation ran smoothly, but now a click on the Thunderbird icon does not activate any mail client; the only success is that Thunderbird icon jumps joyfully and then disappears.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running kubuntu 10.04 (32 bit) and have installed the latest version of the Opera 10.53 beta.
My problem is that I cannot change the icon for Opera in the Kickoff menu or on the desktop. I tried right clicking on the Kickoff Application Launcher widget on the panel and choosing Menu Editor; Navigated to Opera and changed the icon from the default KDE icon (opera) to the new styled Opera icon (opera-browser), but it doesn't change.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI set up a friend's laptop with opensuse 11.3 yesterday and everything was working fine. He has been playing about with it today and now cannot connect to his wireless access point.
It was set up to automatically connect to the wireless network but now the wireless icon (bottom right hand corner of the screen) is shown as 'unmanaged'.
Using openSUSE 11.3, KDE 4.4.4.

I then proceed to update the system. After I have downloaded and installed all the updates from yast online update I then restart and when I boot in the kickoff laucher has lost it's transparency?
I don't have any extra repos added apart from the defaults when installed. And I'm using the Intel graphics driver. Is there perhaps a desktop effect module being turned off?
I just installed Kubuntu, but whenever I install an application or remove one, the Kickoff Menu doesn't update to reflect this. The strange thing is, I can actually click on apps I supposedly uninstalled and they still launch, for example I replaced libreoffice with openoffice, and the menu still only shows libreoffice...

View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes I get this weird thing where typing a name into the kickoff menu hangs after a few letters. It hangs the entire computer! Once it happens, I try to close it but have to wait about 20 seconds before I can do anything on the computer. Then everything else works fine (after it's closed). But if I go back to kickoff and try again, it does the same thing! I can't seem to find anything in "top" to indicate what's happening.

Here's "top" during a recent issue where konqueror wasn't opening to show sysinfo and there was some hanging (although this was after it came back from kickoff hanging) code...

Lets get some deep fried butter.As you can see the first message is cut off in the last message, it just says Sam... no plus sign or anything for me to be able to view the whole message including everything that was said throughout multiple emails. This happens to every single one of my emails, if someone replied again to this the original message just would no longer be on the email at all and I'd have to search it out in previous emails which is a pain.

I checked the ibus-daemon is running, but I have no idea how to use ibus without an icon.
After upgrading from opensuse 11.2 to 11.3 my firefox and thunderbird have changed their theme to a new one(?). Actually I prefer more 11.2 theme as firefox's and thunderbir'ds interfaces look a little bit "bulky" to me.
How can I change their themes?

Partition table entries are not in disk order sda4 is a partition that did not appear in the partition overview when I installed the operating system. I thought I'd look for help here while I continue to research the problem myself.
Network Manager icon aint showing, neither is the power manager. Im using "alt+f2" the nm-applet to get the NM work but removes after reboot, so i have to do this all time.. uhm, when trying to enable desktop effects is sats "searching for available drivers" and then "Desktop effects could not be enabled". When trying to install apps from Software center, neither of the apps installs, the button install just keep refreshing, but if i go terminal: sudo software-center im able to install everything.

I intended to make my IP static by opening the file network interfaces "sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces" and adding the following

address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0

and then restarting the network "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" The static ip setting is successful except for the warning "warning produced: SIOCDELRT: No such process" When i enquire for ifconfig the ip was set static to 192.168.1.100 and i was connected to the internet and everything works fine. But when i restart the system the network icon at the right top corner disappears and am not able to get connected to the internet.
And when i remove the block of code mentioned above and restarted my system, everything works fine. How can i make my ip static? What is preventing my static ip configuration.
As in the title - When I use truecrypt it (normally) puts an icon in the systray. I need to click on this icon when i've finished with the volume in order to unmount the volume and exit the program. This is very important as I share this volume across computers and it can't be mounted on more than one at a time.
However the icon does not play with the new unity DE, not showing up at all, and leaving me with only one option - to open a terminal and find and kill all TC processes. Obviously killing processes in this way is technically not ideal and is time consuming too.
Any ideas how to sort this out anyone?
