Ubuntu :: Thunderbird Icon Not Showing At Default Account Spot?
Apr 20, 2010
How to get the Thunderbird E-Mail Icon to the far right side of the tool bar where the default evolution mail icon is? I can remove the evolution icon and install the Thunderbird icon to the task bar but I cant get it in the exact spot as the default account.
I am using 11.4 with kde4.6.0 and I have thunderbird installed, but the thunderbird does not appear under email applications in kickoff. I have set it as my default email program in settings. I can launch fro kickoff search bar, but it comes up with the gear wheel and "run thunderbird" Something is amiss
I've installed Office 2007 under wine, and would like to add launchers for Word, Excel, etc to the Unity launcher bar.
So, I've created a launcher on the Desktop that will run Word with wine. I've changed the icon to the Word Icon and everything works great from the desktop. If I drag that launcher to the Unity bar, it adds it, but changes the icon to the springboard default icon that new launchers use. Please see attached picture.
As a side note, I am really starting to like Unity (puts on flamesuit), but it seems very easy to break the install of 11.04. I've had to reinstall 4 times now.
I have installed 11.4, and it seems (seemed) to work OK so far. I installed Thunderbird via the opensuse "1 click install". the installation ran smoothly, but now a click on the Thunderbird icon does not activate any mail client; the only success is that Thunderbird icon jumps joyfully and then disappears.
Is anyone else seeing the default icon in GNOME Shell instead of the usual Firefox icon? I am talking about the default icon that looks like a purple diamond.
I just upgraded from TB 3.0 to 3.1 and now I can't access my email account. (It has a lock on the account icon and there are no subfolders available -- see attached.) What could be wrong?
I am using OpenSUSE 11.2 and have installed Thnderbird 3.1.8.
Now the problems are :
1.
In my office , where Ubuntu is being used, I've also installed Thunderbird, and my Yahoo ! account works smoothly there, but not in my OpenSUSE 11.2 machine.
2.
How can I take the backup of my any particular account of Thunderbird?
am getting the hang of it & have installed various applications with no effort at all, however, I have run into a problem that I hope you can help with ?I've installed Thunderbird & it is showing "installed" in Ubuntu Software Centre but is not showing anwhere in either applications, places or system - surely it should show up in applications right
I set up a mail account in Tbird 3.1.8 - only to find it was incorrect (IMAP rather than POP).
I have set up the new account correctly, but there does not seem to be any way to delete the old account. I have renamed it to avoid confudion; but I really need to delete it.
I've finally got all my accounts the way I like them in Thunderbird. I'm using IMAP and so don't have to move the emails, but how do I migrate my account settings to my other computers? The other machines are running WinXP.
(Ubuntu LTS 10.4) I have multiple mail accounts on Thunderbird (TB). All worked fine with no issues whatsoever. A few months ago it suddenly started giving me this alert message related to my yahoo.fr pop3 account
Quote:
The POP3 mail server (pop.mail.yahoo.fr) does not support UIDL or XTND XLST, which are required to implement the ``Leave on Server'', ``Maximum Message Size'' or ``Fetch Headers Only'' options. To download your mail, turn off these options in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window.
Obviously I checked if these settings were somehow changed. They weren't. It should leave messages on the server indeed, but I don't use no max message size or fetch headers only options. The original settings are what they used to be and how they have always worked.
The thing is: everything works normal if I start up TB. It downloads the messages, puts them in the folders where I want them to come etc... The problem seems to appear after a while (mostly a few hours, or overnight). It just stops downloading the messages from my yahoo.fr account. When I click the Get Mail for my yahoo account the above alert message pops up.
There is only one solution really. Close TB and restart it after which all works fine again.
It might be that the problem is related to another issue reported as bug # 689453 in launchpad that started around the same time (a few months ago). That bug forces me to have to end the process through the System Monitor where Thunderbird-bin uses almost 100% of the CPU and doesn't shut down.
Obviously it doesn't avoid me from using TB, but it starts to work on my nerves to have to close down TB (sometimes through the End Process in system monitor) and then restart it so frequently.
As the title says I have an IMAP-account and I want to use it via Evolution. I have the exact same settings on both Evolution and Thunderbird but only Thunderbird sees the mails (new/old), there are 139 messages.Evolution seen none. Nothing. I looked for IMAP-related problems concerning Evolution and one thread suggested something about Inbox-folder and it's location. I don't know if it's the solution, but I didn't find any luck trying different combos in Evolution's options.
I recently configured my client to log on using my (open)ldap account. Since then I could not get thunderbird started from my ldap account. But if I su to one of the local accounts, it opens.
I have noticed the Thunderbird icon is missing from my workplace switcher. It just shows a blank box in whatever workplace Thunderbird is. The Firefox logo works and the icon displays in the panel. Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone know how to get it to display in the workplace switcher.Ubuntu Studio:2.6.31.21 64 bit.I have seen old threads where the icon is missing from the panel, but none relating to the workplace switcher.
I've been using natty for a few weeks. I can't remember to add something to the launcher, other than dragging it. I had thunderbird in the launcher, but accidentally removed it.Now, when I drag it back to the launcher, it's there in the launcher, but as a blank space. The thunderbird icon is missing. I can click on the blank space to launch it, but would like to add the icon
I'm using Ubuntu Lucid 64bit. Thunderbird 2 had an add-on for new mail icon notification in the tray, but I haven't yet found a working replacement for Thunderbird 3.
I am using Thunderbird 3.1 with minimize to tray extension on Ubuntu 10.04. When I receive a new mail I expect that the Thunderbird icon in the tray becomes a mail icon.
Sam and I are going to the fair on sunday around 2 if anyone wants to join us. Lets get some deep fried butter. As you can see the first message is cut off in the last message, it just says Sam... no plus sign or anything for me to be able to view the whole message including everything that was said throughout multiple emails. This happens to every single one of my emails, if someone replied again to this the original message just would no longer be on the email at all and I'd have to search it out in previous emails which is a pain.
I just installed Debian 6 on a server and when the server powers up, it shows me all the accounts I created in order for me to choose and login under an account, except for the root account. At the colo where the server is going, they need the root account at the login screen.

In the XP version of Thunderbird, a try icon appears when new mail arrives. I noticed in the Linux version I don't get the tray icon. Is there anyway of getting it to show or is it not available in the Linux version?
Network Manager icon aint showing, neither is the power manager. Im using "alt+f2" the nm-applet to get the NM work but removes after reboot, so i have to do this all time.. uhm, when trying to enable desktop effects is sats "searching for available drivers" and then "Desktop effects could not be enabled". When trying to install apps from Software center, neither of the apps installs, the button install just keep refreshing, but if i go terminal: sudo software-center im able to install everything.
and then restarting the network "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" The static ip setting is successful except for the warning "warning produced: SIOCDELRT: No such process" When i enquire for ifconfig the ip was set static to 192.168.1.100 and i was connected to the internet and everything works fine. But when i restart the system the network icon at the right top corner disappears and am not able to get connected to the internet.
And when i remove the block of code mentioned above and restarted my system, everything works fine. How can i make my ip static? What is preventing my static ip configuration.
As in the title - When I use truecrypt it (normally) puts an icon in the systray. I need to click on this icon when i've finished with the volume in order to unmount the volume and exit the program. This is very important as I share this volume across computers and it can't be mounted on more than one at a time.
However the icon does not play with the new unity DE, not showing up at all, and leaving me with only one option - to open a terminal and find and kill all TC processes. Obviously killing processes in this way is technically not ideal and is time consuming too.
