Programming :: Bash Read Input Word For Word ?
May 4, 2010I am pretty new to bash scripting...I am trying to write a script that will take an input and read it word for word and then DO something with it like echo. I have been able to find how to read word for word from a file but I don't know how to do it with input.
I was looking for something like

Feb 19, 2010I have to modify formsweb.cfg file in Oracle IAS.
Problem description
In formsweb.cfg file are two lines with labels archive_jini= and archive= at the beginning of line. After equal sign (=) is row of filenames of java archives delimited by coma(,). When I insert a new jar file in java directory, I have to append the very same name of jar file to both lines if that name is not yet present.

May 13, 2010Abiword is splitting words at the end of sentences. If I go to the end of the line and nudge the word, it will wrap but I get an extra space. I can usually delete the space. Sometime, the word will wrap correctly if I continue typing but this is not the typical case.
I know this is not a problem with OpenOffice but I don't want to install 70MB of program just to get a simple word processor.
Ubuntu :: Cannot Type After Login And 1 Word Or So
May 31, 2010I loose partial keyboard use after login. At first, I login, and can type about 1 word or so, then typing stops. I can use Ctl + Alt + Del to shutdown, restart or whatever. My volume and play stop, pause keys work when listening to music, but I have no pull downs. I can't use the Applications, Places, or System pull downs at all after the typing stops. However, I can still double-click things on the desktop, and I can also launch some launchers on the top system bar. I can browse the internet but no typing.
I once logged in, and did no typing for a couple hours. I just let it sit. Everything seemed normal until I started typing. Then it stopped typing, and no more pulldown menus. Another interesting fact is, I leave my computer on most of the time. I went away for 4 days and shut down my computer while I was gone. It was working fine when I shut it down, but then 4 days later when I boot back up, this crap starts. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell Precision 670. The keyboard is wireless, but I have recently changed the batteries.

Feb 14, 2011it does not permit me use Times New Roman font! It says down the dialogue box Font on MS Word that it is not, like, installed, and that it will use the most likely one. It's not good, because the texts (all of them) get italicized when I open some on it. It was working fine before. I use Wine on Lucid Lynx, very updated.

-Spanish (Puerto Rico) (For "Selection" or "For Paragraph" or "For All Text"), and nothing happens.
I am obliged o go online and use some of those "Type Spanish accents" online site to do my Spanish work. But I can't, it is too much because the accents, etc.

I would like to rename these to:

If in my script I use something like

Jan 20, 2010I tried to install word2007 on kubuntu 9.10 with wine1.01 but everytime i got an error message in wine saying "setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupt or not available. Run setup again from the original source disk or download location"
This is strange because in my previous installation of kubuntu 9.10 I could run word2007 without any problems.

This would be nice to have so I can ween myself entirely off windows.

May 30, 2010I started using gnome sticky notes along with the Compiz widget layer in Ubuntu 10.04. The problem I'm having is that word wrap on the sticky notes is hit-or-miss. Most of the time the notes will automatically stretch horizontally (even beyond the size of a workspace) rather than break at its current window size. The only other problem I've noticed is that if I right-click on the title of a note, the resulting menu doesn't display correctly (it's looks like a line).Should I reinstall the package it belongs to?

Sep 19, 2010I have an essential problem with Gnote. Although a word is linked it is not clickable nor underlined. Basically there is not any sign showing that the word is a link. It looks like an ordinary word. However, when I select it then "Link" button becomes enabled and if I click to that button it takes me to the linked point. I think it is a very basic problem but strangely I haven't found anything about it in my searches. Is this Gnote's normal behavior? I have Ubuntu 10.04 and had this problem in both Gnote 0.6.2. and 0.7.2 (latest release).

Nov 14, 2010I have 2 Ubuntu machines up & running on a small network. Both are running SAMBA servers. One several years old & has a rather old version of Ubuntu. The other, quite new & has a version about 9 months old.The newest has a problem. When working with large & complex Word documents, it will periodically generate an an error on the work station.
"Word failed reading from this fille (xxx specifies file we are working on). Please restore the network connection or replace the floppy disk drive". The it crashes Word & unsaved work is lost.The error never occurs when using the old server, only the new.
