How to install Firefox 6?Currently installed version(installed during installation of OpenSUSE 11.4) is 5.0 I am tryed from here software.opensuse.org: Search Results And there is no version 6 on list? I am only know how to install software from this site with 1-Click Install or with Yast software Manager.
View 6 RepliesI have installed openSUSE 11.3 duel boot with Vista and had no problems as the wireless connection and everything is working including Firefox. Next day I find Firefox will not come up after clicking on the icon which is pretty useless when the web browser is not available. All other things come up OK.

Also I cant browse the internet from the desktop icon, but I can using the Konqureror browse the internet. I am using openSUSE11.1 32-bit with KDE.
I have downloaded the firefox 3.7a which was a tar.bz2 file. After downloading extracted the tar.bz2 into a download folder. Now I can figure out to do from there. How can update using this firefox update. All the zypper/yast ect. only use my repositories that dont have 3.7a and I can not figure out what else to do. Google searches all just say use package manager. But how do you use a package manager for a file on your hard drive?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI havent used Linux in a long time. I dug up an old copy of Suse (version8.2), and installed it on an old 599MHZ PC. Ive been trying to update the various libraries to be able to get a updated version of Firefox installed. Is there any chance that this can work? I need to know if Im wasting my time and should just put winxp on this PC. Also, I cant get any repositories working. I assume the default ones I have on the Suse installation are bad and the ones for the later versions will not work.

I am on OpenSuSE 11.0 running Firefox 3.0. I want to upgrade Firefox to 3.5 or 3.6 but all I can find in /pub/opensuse/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.0/x86_64 is MozillaFirefox-3.6.0-1.2.x86, or MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE 3.5-3.9.x86.
When I try to install MozillaFirefox-branding-openSUSE 3.5-3.9.x86 I am told I need to install Firefox 3.5 because of failed dependencies. I have looked around on the internet for an RPM for this version but can't find it. telling me where I can find the correct RPM to install, or advise me with other instructions to wean my old 11.0 system of the old Firefox?
By the way I can not upgrade this system to 11.1 or 11.2 because it is a production machine. However, I debug on this machine using Firebug and I would just like to bring these two tools up to date.

just now I had to restart it 10 times to get it to work accurately. with windows I think what I would do is uninstall firefox then reinstall it. will that work on linux as well?and what other ways can I debug/clean up this system a little better since it seems to not work the same as windows, although basically it's the same, just a little different, different type of file system, etc.

double clicked the 'firefox' script in this folder and nothing happens at all. no windows appear, no hdd activity, no errors - nothing at all.
After upgrade opensuse from 11.2 to 11.3 a cannot use firefox. I start firefox form shell and nothing. When I use strace then firefox stop on "waitpid(-1, ". Firefox work well only when i login as a root. I removed java sun plugin and started firefox in save-mode and check to disable all extensions etc and nothing to do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep running into a problem with KDE crashing when using the search bar in Firefox.
For some unknown reason, something gets set in the Firefox profile that will cause KDE to crash when a few chars are typed into the search bar in Firefox's upper right corner. When this situation occurs, I can log on to Gnome, and use the search bar with no problem. This is something related to KDE only.
The temporary solution is to delete my Firefox profile. This fixes the problem initially, but returns after a few weeks of web browsing. Deleting my browser profile every two weeks is NOT much fun!
Firefox level is 3.6.13. KDE is 4.4.4. Suse is 11.3. I do NOT have Moonlight installed.
Firefox 4 freeze in openSUSE-11.4? Mine freezes randomly, it seems, on opening links in new tabs. I don't think it's Flash as it happens on any web site, even without flash (e.g. like this forum). I've updated to the latest version from the Mozilla repo but it still freezes. The only option is to kill it and restart it. So I use Chromium at the moment. But I prefer Firefox.
PS I don't have any Firefox 4 problems in WinXP at work. And I think I haven't yet had a freeze on my Intel laptop or Atom netbook (maybe I haven't used them long enough), looks like it may be something to do with 64-bits (AMD)? But I may be wrong.
I've switched to Chrome as my main browser (for now, at least, still keeping Firefox and Opera around) but I also use the "RSS Now" plasmoid for newsfeeds, and although Chrome is now officially the default browser, everytime I click on a news headline it insists on opening Firefox, which in turn complains that it is not the default browser. I remember that, in a previous KDE 4.x version, it insisted on Konqueror and I somehow got rid of that but can't remember how. how I can use the plasmoid to use Chrome?

The system updated Firefox to version 6 yesterday, but now Firefox keeps crashing.I don't see anything in any logs, nor is there anything in the ~/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports directory.When I restart Firefox, sometimes it asks if I want to restart the lost sessions, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I have Firefox in the background, and I'm not even using it, and it will crash.Is there some other information I could grab? GPU Accelerated Windows 0/1.
