View 1 RepliesI know, I know, there a billion threads on the subject spread from Ubuntu forums to Yahoo Answers, but I like many I can't seem to make my fruit talk to a penguin. The odd thing is though, It worked (almost) flawlessly until I started messing around. Trying to install ideviceinstaller (which I never did get working), I tried to compile the source for the development version of libimobiledevice. When I did this, I got compiler error after compiler error. In the end I reinstalled libimobiledevice stable (1.0.4). The problems began here. I've installed everything in the FunkyM repo (except for debuginfo stuff), plus some stuff that isn't, yet I when I try to ifuse in terminal, I get the following error:
Code:
usbmuxd_get_device_list: error opening socket!
No device found, is it connected? If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device. If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it. And subsequently I can't use Gtkpod either.
Anyone got anything? I'm running 11.3, with a jailbroken 2nd gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.0.
how to mount my old ipod shuffle 2gb on my opensuse 11.2 KDE 4.3.5 "release 3". if i plug my ipod on my usb port than nothing happens. no auto mount, nothing, i can't see it or access it on my dolphin. my ipod works great on my windows vista partition zzzzzz. so how can i check the mount partition for my ipod or even create and test this partition manually? like, step-by-step instructions. i got the gtkpod installed but e can't use with my ipod because there's no connection for my device.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 3rd gen 32g ipod touch with the latest firmware and restored to factory default settings. When I plug in the device via USB it will not mount. after plugging in the ipod my dmesg is as follows:
Code:
[ 399.300032] usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
[ 399.455746] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 3 choices
And lsusb shows the device as:
Code:
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 05ac:1299 Apple, Inc.
The OS is obviously recognizing the device as an Apple product, but beyond that I don't know.
The device will connect fine with windows machines. I have not tried using it with Wine + itunes as I know that itunes under wine is buggy at best.
When I plug the ipod in I get the following error message "DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" Amarok sees the ipod but cant access it. Gtkpod doesnt see it at all.Its an Ipod Touch 8GB, 2nd or 3rd gen.

When I plug the suffle in, dmesg looks good and puts it at sdb : sdb1, but /dev/sdb1 is never created.Other thumb drives mount fine at /dev/sdb1 and the shuffle mounts fine on my other debian box at /dev/sdb1. I just installed on this system and it's a pretty sparse install so I'm wondering if I'm missing some firmware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using 9.10 Karmic Koala Oct 2009 release. Gtkpod does not show my ipod touch, and I can not mount the ipod. I realise there were problems with the ipod touch syncing/mounting but gtkpod has the touch option, and I have all the files from synaptic for using an ipod touch. When I run gtkpod its just blank, no music files show up. If I click load ipod I get the error:

I'm running (K)ubuntu 10.04 side-by-side with Windows 7 (Wubi install) and have been having trouble from the word go trying to get my ipod working with it. I've already managed to jailbreak it with Spirit in Windows in hopes that it would get the iPod libs to work but to no avail. I've downloaded just about every result I could find by searching for "ipod" in Synaptic as well as a few other libraries that I've found while searching the forums for a solution to my problem. I have both Banshee and RhythmBox on my machine and Bash can detect the device but it won't mount and to the best of my knowledge not a single program can see anything other than a folder labeled "iPod" in my "media" drive and even this only recently occurred. For what it's worth, I've downloaded the ipod-convenience package and this is the code that resulted when I tried to mount via Konsole:

this is after I've added myself to the 'fuse' group and rebooted the computer.
Suddenly I am unable to mount an ipod to my 10.04 distro. I get the error mount: can't find /dev/sdb2 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab Can see it in 'places' but cannot mount and naturally, I cannot connect with GTKPod.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want my iPod to automatically mount as read only. I am hoping this will prevent Rhythmbox from changing my playlist sort order while still allowing me to listen to my music.I've tried a number of things this morning and never got it working properly. I'll try to remember what I tried:gksu gedit fstabI added UUID=5EFC-9810 /media/ipod vfat ro,noexec, noauto, user 0 0cd /mediaudo mkdir ipodMounted the iPod and it showed up twice in Places (possibly as a result of this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...fs/+bug/442130). Also, the directory iPod was always listed in Places even when I hadn't connected my iPod. So I listened to the advice there and tried:/dev/disk/by-uuid/5EFC-9810 /media/ipod vfat ro,noexec, noauto 0 0Now I couldn't get my iPod to mount at all. The error given was something like:Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1...only root can mount media/ipodI was able to chown /ipod but it didn't solve my problem.I started over and tried:UUID=5EFC-9810 /media/ipod vfat ro 0 0
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst, I know this topic has been killed to death but I have been reading other posts from other people that have had similar problems and nothing seems to be working.I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and I have installed the libimobile libraries and ifuse ect. I have turned off my screen lock pw and have tried multiple ports. lsusb lists it so I know that it knows it's there. Any other suggestions? I thought it was supposed to work "out of the box"

I've searched the forums, and tried a lot of different things, and nothing has fixed this problem.
I recently had to reinstall Ubuntu 11.04 after a bit of careless messing about, and am now unable to mount my Ipod (touch, 3rd generation, maybe?). Previously, only a week ago, I had no troubles mounting it and uploaded all of my music to Banshee with no problems. However, with this most recent reinstallation, I am unable to to do anything with my Ipod. If I plug it in, about 2 seconds later it comes up with an error that I cannot currently remember, but it was along the lines of "cannot mount: timed out."

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect an iPod Touch to Linux, it is automatically mounted and recognized. Rhythmbox is able to play music on it. However, I cannot find where in the filesystem it is mounted. I looked in /media and /mnt but it's not there. Where is it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Ipod working fine using both Rhythmbox and gtkpod until a few weeks ago. Now, I can't get my Ipod to mount. My external hard drive mounts fine, just not the Ipod. When I plug it in I get the following message:
"DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor. Not Found: The given volume was not found"
I've tried to manually mount it and that doesn't work. I updated from Jaunty to Karmic hoping that would solve it. It didn't.
My ipod shuffle (1st generation) will not mount in Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit when I plug it into my usb port. When I plug in the ipod I do not get an icon being created for it on the desktop. I have also checked nautilus and there is no storage device for the ipod showing when I click on computer in nautilus.I have also checked /media in nautilus and there in no listing for the ipod. The only way I can see the ipod in Ubuntu is if I open up a terminal window and use the command lsusb which then shows a listing for the ipod.
If I have the ipod plugged into my computer before I turn it on and then turn on the computer to boot with Ubuntu, Ubuntu does not boot in the normal graphics mode but boots in text mode where I have to type in my name and password on a black terminal screen. The ipod has the latest software on it as well as being reset back to original factory settings. I have no problems using the ipod if boot up on windows 7 and plug in the ipod.
I have just got a new iPod Touch 4th generation, currently running iOS 4.1. I am having difficulty syncing it with Rhythmbox (or any application!), as it seems to go un-recognised! It currently is not jailbroken.
Is there any way to mount and sync music with this iPod? My old nano used to work just fine in Rhythmbox.
i've just bought an Ipod nano 6th. i managed the music from mac osx on the macbook pro and it was fine. now i tried with my home pc that is an ubuntu 11.04. the problem is that the ipod is recognized (it is in the left bar in nautilus) but it it not monted.
this is the error
Code:
Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb2,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error

dmesg | tail or so

i tied to plug my ipod in just now and it says connected on the ipod but is not mounting on my ubuntu desktop or with gtkpod. i also have a g1 plugged in via usb with an 8gb mem card mounted on the phone but that wont mount on the computer either. Oddly my usb flash drive will mount. i forgot where i seen the message but it says that my ipod is blocked from being mounted. I ran mount on the commandline and it said nothing about an ipod or android phone at all. i can see the devices in /dev/disk/by-label/. And it shows iPod my g1 and my live cd. btw i am running a live cd because of my faulty hard drive

I am not sure what is happening here. My ipod nano worked perfectly with the computer I am using with Windows XP, Ubuntu 9.04, Xubuntu 9.04, and gNewSense 2.3.
I wanted to use Xubuntu 9.10, but my ipod does not work with it. The other choice is gnewSense, but I am not sure if I want to be limited by their ultra-strict free software policy. I posted a TON of information on the Ubuntu forums about this:

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 trying to use my Ipod with Hipo but I keep getting the error

My 4 GB 2nd generation Ipod nano will not mount to my Compaq Presario 2105US running Xubuntu 9.10. I get a message that says, "Failed to mount Ipod" with a description that says, "mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so ."
I even went back to my XP to restore the ipod to factory settings essentially formating it, to see if that would help, but I get the same result.
Is there something that I may have overlooked?
