OpenSUSE Hardware :: QuickCam S5500 Color And Video Messed

Sep 23, 2010

I just recently reinstalled OpenSUSE 11.3 and my camera (Logitech QuickCam S5500) is now messed up. Is there any way to reconfigure or redetect the camera? How about reinstalling the UVC camera?

Ubuntu :: Maverick: Messed With Updates - Lost Video

Mar 22, 2011

I was following the link below on my Acer trying to get my FN brightness adjust keys to actually work, instead of just showing the dialog. [url].... After following the steps and restarting, i can hear ubuntu start and the login screen appear, but i cannot see anything. Brightness keys do not work. So i hold my left shift to get the boot menu. Neither the primary boot or it's recovery method work (Kernel 2.6.35-28-generic). However if i choose 2.6.35-27-generic it boots right up like nothing is wrong. So how do i get my primary kernel working right again?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitech Quickcam Not Working?

Aug 15, 2010

Code:
lsusb
046d:08af Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Easy/Cool

Apparently, this webcam uses the gspca2 driver. The gspca modules are loaded but if I try using a program like cheese it tells me no device was detected.

Code:
hwinfo --usb
17: USB 00.0: 11200 TV Card
[Created at usb.122]
Unique ID: YccR.9AtOl3Z230E

[Code]....

If I do a modprobe -rf gspca_zc3xx and then modprobe gspca_zc3xx I see the light blink a couple times, but it still doesn't work in cheese.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video File Colours Messed Up Every Time Restart?

Nov 12, 2010

every time I reboot and play a video file the colours are messed up. I need to manually increase then decrease the hue or saturation to get the picture to normal in smplayer. The colours aren't competely inversed as in the common bug with the totem sliders, they're just far too red and bright.Smplayer is the latest from PPA. I've checked the totem settings and everything is OK. It only takes two key presses to resolve but it's a pain, to be honest, so if anyone knows what causes this and how to fix it permanently I'd be much obliged.

Ubuntu :: Skype Rendering - Image From My Webcam Is Clear But The Video From The Person On The Other End Is Messed Up

Feb 13, 2011

whenever I video chat with someone the image from my webcam is clear but the video from the person on the other end is messed up. It is as if it does not render correctly, it's washed out and it looks like a full image and 2 cut off images, one on the bottom and one the top of the full image. Has anyone else encountered this? The PC has a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP card with the ATI drivers installed. Other video plays fine, ....., dvd, avi and mkvs.

Somewhy it is using YUY, but not MJPEG, although seems MJPEG can give larger resolution. How to get it? Single shot 1,3MPix technically possible, any way to do that?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Recording Audio With Logitech QuickCam Pro For Notebooks?

Jun 20, 2011

Inspired by some recent posts from oldcpu I decided to grab some audio from my Logitech webcam, just for the fun of it. openSUSE 11.3 i586 is in use.

Code:
> lsusb
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:0991 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Pro for Notebooks
> arecord -l
**** Liste der Hardware-Geräte (CAPTURE) ****
Karte 0: Intel [HDA Intel], Gerät 0: ALC892 Analog [ALC892 Analog]

[Code]...

It works! Though I have to say that the audio quality is mediocre (to say the best). I blame it on the quality of the built-in microphone of this camera. It sounds like it was recorded in a giant bathroom.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video Color Is Very Blue?

Aug 16, 2010

I must have inadvertently changed a color setting in Ubuntu. Suddenly, the color in all video that I play is distinctly blue (human skin is shades of blue and green). This happens to multiple videos in both VLC and Movie Player. It does not happen when I play the same videos on VLC in Windows. Pictures and all other graphics appear completely normal. I am still quite new to Ubuntu and I've never encountered anything like this before. I have no idea where to start

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Pics - Video Color Is Much Better In Windows

Apr 15, 2011

Open these in separate tabs and compare for yourself: Windows - Ubuntu As far as I know, this color difference between Windows and Ubuntu has existed for years. I mean I have had countless installations of XP's and 7's, and I've tried several versions of Ubuntu. Always noticed that color difference.

I don't know which color is "normal", but I like Windows' way better. How can I achieve this result on Ubuntu? The pictures are both taken in VLC with default configuration. I'd be happy to provide more data, if needed.

I get a window that shows a broken image which shifts to the left in bits - top half, bottom quarter, etc. - and the colours flicker wildly in separate parts of the image. The shell from which it was launched gives this output: Any of the controls I try gives me errors, such as:

I closed this program and ran kopete, which showed me no image at all but gave this output on the shell: Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing. Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing. Calling appendChild() on a null node does nothing.

I was only able to restart in recovery mode mode. I tried the fix graphics option, which did not work and also some commands that I've seen posted in other threads. So far, still cannot delete the problematic driver or boot up normally successfully.

Software :: Screen App / Retain BG / Color Background Color Gets Lost

Jul 6, 2009

I am using the screen app, and have set bce to on, and issued the following commands to set my background and foreground color: tput setab 4; clear; tput setaf 7; clear;

This temporarily sets everything properly on my screen. However, when I issue any commands that change or set their own background color (for example, when I issue an "ls" command with colorized output), the background color gets lost for any new output and I have to reissue the commands listed above in order to retrieve my background color.Ideally I'd like to keep my background color when issuing these commands, as it serves as a good way to remind me of what environment I am currently issuing commands in.

I selected it and I see a big button on the pannel labeled "Desk"... If I launch several applications, I cannot see them on the panel any more the task bar is not there..How can I restore it?how can elements be moved of position horizontally within the panel?

OpenSUSE Install :: Messed Up Booting Selection?

Mar 16, 2010

Seems I have messed up something.I can boot into openSUSE and into Vista, so it is not screwed.I have 1 hard diskI have an OEM Vista (so a 9 GB EISA rescue partition), the Vista partition (~100GB) and the 3 partitions for openSUSE (2/20/467).Before just wiping the linux partitions I tried to switch back to M$ booting but failed. ATM I boot to splash screen showing 3 entries: 2 openSUSE and 1 windows. When I choose Windows I get to the next screen showing Windows and - ubuntu (I had ubuntu via wubi before but wasn't convinced, so (w)ubuntu does not exist anymore).I thought installing openSUSE will fix the issue that ubuntu shows up on M$ booting screen but ofc I was wrong.I didn't want to wipe the still unused openSUSE partitions before being successfull so instead I tried:

- booting into M$ rescue CL: bootrec /fixmbr does not give an error but bootrec /fixboot or /rebuildbcd - automatic system repair does not show any partition, fixboot /scanos finds C:
- using bcdedit and EasyBCD (fail)

OpenSUSE Install :: Messed Up NVidia Driver After Upgrade

Jul 26, 2010

I did an upgrade of Nvidia(Latest version v.196) and KDE-base4 to KDE 4.4.4(I think) in Yast2. Now when I reboot the X doesnt start. I claim it can't find any nvidia-module. I thing the upgrade of Nvidia v.196 failed, so I need to know how to reinstall Nvidia in console(CLI). It only boot up in cli. I thought it is so simple to just download the latest driver and install in CLI, but my NetworkManager doesnt start eighter so I don't have any network.

OpenSUSE 11.2 64bits
KDE 4.4.x
Nvidia NV140 Quadro 512MB

I guess my mistake was to upgrade both KDE and Nvidia in the same operation.

However, the NTFS partition is messed up. The QParted GUI and the SUSE's Disk management GUI shows it as NTFS drive with 319 GB space. However, nothing seem to be able to read/write to it. QParted gives a warning "Unable to read contents of this file system! Because of this some operations maybe unavailable." Is there any way to fix this NTFS partition so I can recover data from it?

OpenSUSE Install :: Clock Messed Up 2 Hours Early Or Forward - Idk

Jun 14, 2010

i probably messed up the clock somehow... I think during install. Linux keeps messing up windows clock... And vice versa... When the clock in windows is correct (say, 2 PM), the clock in Linux when i reboot says 4 PM... And when i set up the clock in Linux to the correct time (in this case 2 PM) and boot into windows, windows clock says 12 PM...

Of course, when i correct it in windows, linux clock gets messed up again... 2 hours early or forward, idk... I'm not sure what i did to make this happen... Maybe has something to do with hardware clock... I don't wanna constantly correct time whenever i change systems...
