View 3 RepliesI have a ML350 tha will not boot up. I noticed that my 1st drive of 5 is out. We ordered a new hot swap 72gb SAS drive and replaced it. When I boot the computer up it flashes green and I was wondering how long it takes to rebuild typically.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat i want to know is that is opensuse 11.3 compatible on the ibm x3650m3 hardware.
Checked in the ibm website but the OpenSuse was not displayed under the supported operating systems which means that opensuse is not been tested on the x3650m3 hardware.
If any one can provide me a link where in i can find the server hardware compatibility list for the opensuse11.3.
I'm trying to install on HP ML 350 F13 G6 with standard array controller and 3 drives in raid 5. Well, when the installation process get the screen that shows the files copied (all copied...) , it freezes and does not advance more. Perhaps groped a firmware update? Other distributions are installed correctly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed truecrypt but it didn't open, I don't know why, maybe it needs gtk libs to work.
so I'm looking for an alternative KDE app that at least can open truecrypt files.
I plan to install OpenSUSE as my main operating system. However, before proceeding with the installation I want to clarify one problem I think I might face. My disc is partitioned into 2 parts- a) C: being my primary partition and b) D: containing all my important files. Both the partitions are NTFS.
I am planning to format C: and install OpenSUSE on it. Will I be able to use the D: partition in OpenSUSE just as I use it in Windows or would I have to format D: too? I do not want to format D: drive. Would I have to make any special configurations before or after installing OpenSUSE to use D: drive?
I gave it 6 months, "Plasma" is still as disappointing as it was on day 1 :-( , even more so on SuSE 11.3, but I love the KDE apps. Any suggestions on a lightweight window manager (XFCE or Icewm) Don't care about effects, I like dark and minimalistic where I can define colours, window size and placement, before I rototill this installation.
Plasma has too many irritating features that I cant turn off, just too much like Windoze
Recently, I downloaded openSUSE 11.2 DVD.I read here (Partitioning/Install Guide) that GRUB may not dual boot correctly with windows: It should be said that grub does not always get the settings to boot Windows quite correct and you may later have to adjust the /boot/grub/menu.lst file in your Linux installation
Is it true also for the openSuse version (11.2) that I downloaded? Please refer to Windows 7.
I am looking for a good mp3 player that is compatible with linux, that is, easily manageable. Does a android base player more compatible? Apple one?

A few days ago yast did update my computer to a new kernel-desktop 2.6.31.12-0.1.1.
My mainboard is an ASUS P4P800-VM with Intel ICH5 chipset. This new kernel is not able, to poweroff my computer. Older kernels were able to poweroff the computer.
How can I roll back to the older kernel? Yast does only offer the recent kernel.
In /boot there are only files of the recent kernel.

My laptop has a WD400 scorpio IDE hard disk. I'm trying to figure out if it's DMA compatible or not. Taking the cover off there's no mention of DMA on the label. I've googled and get confusing results, at least to me. Is there a way I can figure out if it's DMA or not?

Do you have model suggestions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a new smart one. Although I am a long time Blackberry user, I am open to switch to droid or Iphone. One frustration I had with Blackberry was that I was not able synch my phone with my home computer (ubuntu) when I checked two years ago. Since then I have been using a windows machine to synch.
Now I am looking for a new phone and I would like it to work with my Ubuntu computer. I am wondering what other Ubuntu users experience are on this issue.
Can any one tell me of USB speakers they have found compatible with ubuntu 9.10 ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently using [URL] to send and receive faxes at work. I need the faxes to be encrypted. They offer public key encryption with PGP 9.8.2 They just need my public key to be compatible with their PGP version. I found a few statements at the GPG site, which may not be true for newer versions of gpg: PGP, Inc. refuses to accept Elgamal keys of type 20 even for encryption. They only support type 16.PGP 5.x does not accept v4 signatures for data material but OpenPGP requests generation of v4 signatures for all kind of data, that's why GnuPG defaults to them. By default, GnuPG encrypts your secret key using the Blowfish symmetric algorithm. Older PGPs will only understand 3DES, CAST5, or IDEA symmetric algorithms. PGP doesn't do Elgamal signing keys at all, so they are not usable with any version. I attempt to avoid using trial and error here, because an incompatible key may provoke loss of crucial information. It is difficult to estimate how long it would take them/me to find out that the key provided was not compatible; but probably it would entail a significant loss for the business.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNobody else seems to be reporting this, so I guess it's down to my setup in some way, but when I run vim from a konsole window under KDE 4.3.3, I find that the konsole screen messes up during the session (feels as if it is writing with background colour on the background or something) and even when you leave vim by typing the right exit commands, display remains upset (most often confined to leftmost 20-30 columns). Konsole "clear and reset" does not help, I have to close the session and start a new instance.
Maybe connected to the konsole settings I use which are "black on light yellow"?
Should I have something in by .vimrc or konsole configuration to fix this ?
I just want to ask if samba3x (which is samba 3.3.8 specifically ) compatible with samba 5.2 (Final) ???. cause I plan to upgrade my samba which is currently samba 3.0.33 PDC w/ LDAP back-end. Is it safe to download samba3x from CentOS 5.5 and install it in 5.2. and additionally I notice that samba3x require some LIBS packages such as libtalloc, libsmclient, libtdb which is not in 5.2.

Does this mean that if I have some old Macs (G3s) to be precise I could put Fedora on it? Does this involve a whole lot of hacking or not?

The problem of slow usb transfer speeds has been half solved in Lucid. I'm getting 25 mbps plus speeds when it comes to transferring data to portable hard drive. But with my Kingston flash drive the speeds are still as low as 2 mbps. Is this because some flash drives are not meant to be compatible with Ubuntu?
