View 2 RepliesI have been trying to repeat the first two rows in a Calc document but I keep getting an error.
Here are the instructions that I used.
Printing Rows or Columns on Every Page If you have a sheet that is so large that it will be printed multiple pages, you can set up rows or columns to repeat on each printed page. As an example, If you want to print the top two rows of the sheet as well as the first column (A)on all pages, do the following:
1.Choose Format - Print Ranges - Edit. The Edit Print Ranges dialog appears.
2.Click the icon at the far right of the Rows to repeat area. The dialog shrinks so that you can see more of the sheet.
3.Select the first two rows and, for this example, click cell A1 and drag to A2.
In the shrunk dialog you will see $1:$2. Rows 1 and 2 are now rows to repeat.
4.Click the icon at the far right of the Rows to repeat area. The dialog is restored again.
5.If you also want column A as a column to repeat, click the icon at the far right of the Columns to repeat area.
6.Click column A (not in the column header).
7.Click the icon again at the far right of the Columns to repeat area.
Rows to repeat are rows from the sheet. You can define headers and footers to be printed on each print page independently of this in Format - Page.
And here is the error.
"invalid sheet reference"
Is it possible to filter data using color in Open Office Calc?? It's very easy to use this function in MS Excel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay so I have a file that I always save and close properly and get in my Ubuntu One folder for backup that will not open. Its called "Income.ods" and is quite important and I cannot seem to recover it. When I double click it, it shows the Libre Office Calc splash screen shows up then goes away and the nothing, no error messages, no nothing. I tried to open it on my Windows Vista machine and it said it was corrupted and could not open in Office Word. I tried a few recovery tools but to no avail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Calc spreadsheet that has 3 sheets. The first page is set for Portrait and the remaining pages are Landscape. Currently I am printing each page as a separate print job.I would like to print the entire Calc pages as one job where the printer prints the first page as portrait and the remaining pages as landscape without user intervention.
I do not see any command in the print dialog or in open office dialogs that tell the printer to change orientation. It seems that OpenOffice fails to tell the printer the page orientation. Is there any way to accomplish this. If a macro is required how do you write it and how is it executed?
I have 2 versions of the same spreadsheet. Each spreadsheet is divided into many different workbooks.
I have googled this without success. I want to automatically find any lines in spreadsheet 1 which are not in spreadsheet 2 or vice versa.

I have made a report using libre office. Now I wish to continue editing the document using lyx (latex front end). So the ODT file needs to be saved as some .tex file.
I don't see an option to do this in File menu (export/save as). So is there any other plugin to do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just found out about Libre Office. I am currently using Open Office on my Netbook (ubuntu 10.10), and NeoOffice on my Macbook (OS/X 10.6.7).
QUESTION: I have some backups using these formats: .sdw, and .odt. Can Libre Office read documents saved in these (StarOffice / Open Office) formats?
FWIW: I would have preferred to use OO on both machines, but unfortunately OO never fixed a problem with printing envelopes in the Macintosh version. Hence my use of NeoOffice.
I have both installed, but since LO is going to be the way Ubuntu goes for office applications, can I easily have my system setup for native LO? Native being if I double clock on a .doc file it will start up LO's Write program instead of OO.Will just removing OO achieve this or is there an easier way? I looked for file associations and didn't find it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know, why did I uninstall Open Office. Well I am running 11.3 with KDE 4. I did a clean install in December 2010. This is the first time I have updated an old database. I updated the database and then opened a new writer document and pressed F4. OpenOffice closed.
When I recovered the documents I tried F4 again and it closed. So I looked on this forum and found this: OpenOffice crash if I view database Post #8 seems to have the problems solved. So I went to YAST and unticked OpenOffice. I then went to OpenOffice.org and after reading the information about distributions own packages. Also realising that it was a tar.gz, I got cold feet and decided against installing from OpenOffice.org.
I went back to YAST and ticked OpenOffice, but it does not appear to be there anymore. I tried the start icon (bottom left corner), but it is not in there. I have tried opening a document, but it was opened with Okular. I think I have not ticked a box I should have. OpenOffice has a lot of entries in YAST, how do I capture the information so I can show it here? Or do I need to take several screenshots.
I have Open Suse 11.3 KDE desk. with default Open_office as installed. How can i use diacritics characters for a specific language(Romanian). I search "help" but didn't figured out.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing lots of stuff from the main repo (letters Q though U). I, apon starting to catalog the missing software that V-Z needed (and I did not have) I found that open office would not print letters on the screen. I tried rebooting (the computer)and reinstalling (open office is what I reinsalled) and nothing worked. I then tried to type on to a txt document using Kwrite and it wored at first then it started to type symbols and a pop up on the lower left showed the symbols then ABC etc. I clicked on ABC and Kwrite worked but open office did not. If it helps I installed some program that had to do whith typing python. I need to know the following
1:Is it a bug or my mistake?
2:How do I get open office up and running?
Sometime ago I realized my Open Office had changed, I don't remember having done anything in particular but today it isn't the regular open office but what I believe is a KDE version or idk. The theme changed and instead of regular menus I get "window" menus, in the sense that they get effects as regular windows. It's hard to explain it.

I tried uninstalling it and installing open office and also in the soft center open office is more than once, but I tried the different versions and I still get the same problem.
When I open an open office document from an NFS share it always opens as readonly. This was a problem I had on Arch linux and the fix was to change the locking options in the soffice script but I've tried that fix here and it doesn't work. I've seen a lot of discussions but they all go back to changing the locking options in soffice, has anyone got any alternative fixes or one that definitely works with locking?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having sporadic issues with the openoffice.org program. Sometimes, power point presentations will crash the program and then I can't open any open office programs without rebooting the computer. The problem seems to be just with powerpoint files and I'm not sure what the issue could be.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn OpenOffice spreadsheet, using the Page break preview you should be able to move the thick lines that indicate the separation between pages. Some versions ago you could do it normally. But now it's impossible. You can just move the thick line that indicates the limit of the print area.Has anybody noticed this? Is there any solution? In Ooo for Windoze it's possible, but I prefer not to use it unless is absolutely necessary.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn tis end I have a HP G71 laptop and Slackware v13 ...For whatever insane reason Slackware v13 does NOT come with Open Office and the user has to install the program on their own. With that said, I've gone the following route, several times and with zero success ... so you tell me:
.1. <usr> d/l the applicable Open Office files
.2. <usr> unpack the files by way of tar -xvp and end up with *.rpm files
.3. <usr> Switch to the RPM directory and use rpm2tgz to convert the *.rpm files to *.tgz files.
.4. <usr> to <root> su -c installpkg ooo*.tgz and do the same with openoffice*.tgz. All seems to go well here.
.5. <root> switch to desktop directory and remove Debian, Suse and Mandriva files.
.6. <root> convert Slackware file to *.tgz
.7. <root> installpkg openoffice
Using the above noted steps all seems to go well, until after re-booting and starting up "x" as either ROOT or as a USER ... nothing! The "x" window displays show the Open Office files to be there but clicking on them, all I get is a bouncing cursor for a few seconds - then nothing!
