Oct 28, 2010I have been trying to repeat the first two rows in a Calc document but I keep getting an error.
Here are the instructions that I used.
Printing Rows or Columns on Every Page If you have a sheet that is so large that it will be printed multiple pages, you can set up rows or columns to repeat on each printed page. As an example, If you want to print the top two rows of the sheet as well as the first column (A)on all pages, do the following:
1.Choose Format - Print Ranges - Edit. The Edit Print Ranges dialog appears.
2.Click the icon at the far right of the Rows to repeat area. The dialog shrinks so that you can see more of the sheet.
3.Select the first two rows and, for this example, click cell A1 and drag to A2.
In the shrunk dialog you will see $1:$2. Rows 1 and 2 are now rows to repeat.
4.Click the icon at the far right of the Rows to repeat area. The dialog is restored again.
5.If you also want column A as a column to repeat, click the icon at the far right of the Columns to repeat area.
6.Click column A (not in the column header).
7.Click the icon again at the far right of the Columns to repeat area.
Rows to repeat are rows from the sheet. You can define headers and footers to be printed on each print page independently of this in Format - Page.
And here is the error.

Ubuntu :: Libre Office Calc Won't Open File / Make It Possible?
Jul 8, 2011Okay so I have a file that I always save and close properly and get in my Ubuntu One folder for backup that will not open. Its called "Income.ods" and is quite important and I cannot seem to recover it. When I double click it, it shows the Libre Office Calc splash screen shows up then goes away and the nothing, no error messages, no nothing. I tried to open it on my Windows Vista machine and it said it was corrupted and could not open in Office Word. I tried a few recovery tools but to no avail.

Aug 12, 2009I have a Calc spreadsheet that has 3 sheets. The first page is set for Portrait and the remaining pages are Landscape. Currently I am printing each page as a separate print job.I would like to print the entire Calc pages as one job where the printer prints the first page as portrait and the remaining pages as landscape without user intervention.
I do not see any command in the print dialog or in open office dialogs that tell the printer to change orientation. It seems that OpenOffice fails to tell the printer the page orientation. Is there any way to accomplish this. If a macro is required how do you write it and how is it executed?

Aug 3, 2010I'm running Open Office 3.2.0. Does anybody know how to change the background color of an entire Open Office document? I know that you can change the background of a page in the Format >> Page menu, but this does not change the color of the page area inside the margins. Normally it wouldn't make much sense to change the background color when it just gets print to a page anyway. But I actually wanted to export the document to PDF, and was thinking it would make the PDF look better if I could pick the BG color.

Mar 28, 2011I just found out about Libre Office. I am currently using Open Office on my Netbook (ubuntu 10.10), and NeoOffice on my Macbook (OS/X 10.6.7).
QUESTION: I have some backups using these formats: .sdw, and .odt. Can Libre Office read documents saved in these (StarOffice / Open Office) formats?
FWIW: I would have preferred to use OO on both machines, but unfortunately OO never fixed a problem with printing envelopes in the Macintosh version. Hence my use of NeoOffice.

Apr 22, 2011I have both installed, but since LO is going to be the way Ubuntu goes for office applications, can I easily have my system setup for native LO? Native being if I double clock on a .doc file it will start up LO's Write program instead of OO.Will just removing OO achieve this or is there an easier way? This was a problem I had on Arch linux and the fix was to change the locking options in the soffice script but I've tried that fix here and it doesn't work. I've seen a lot of discussions but they all go back to changing the locking options in soffice, has anyone got any alternative fixes or one that definitely works with locking?

When i give the following command iscsiadm -m discovery -t sendtargets -p 192.168.2.13it only gives me one line output which is:192.168.2.13:3260,1 iqn.2006-01.com.openfiler:tsn.03821172572cNone of the mapped LUNS gets identified neither it shows me any message that it is connecting. I have setup CHAP in openfiler to accept an incoming user plus gave access to my OEL server.Any feedback is helpful. If you need the contents of /etc/iscsi/iscsid.conf file let me know

Mar 16, 2010On tis end I have a HP G71 laptop and Slackware v13 ...For whatever insane reason Slackware v13 does NOT come with Open Office and the user has to install the program on their own. With that said, I've gone the following route, several times and with zero success ... so you tell me:
.1. <usr> d/l the applicable Open Office files
.2. <usr> unpack the files by way of tar -xvp and end up with *.rpm files
.3. <usr> Switch to the RPM directory and use rpm2tgz to convert the *.rpm files to *.tgz files.
.4. <usr> to <root> su -c installpkg ooo*.tgz and do the same with openoffice*.tgz. All seems to go well here.
.5. <root> switch to desktop directory and remove Debian, Suse and Mandriva files.
.6. <root> convert Slackware file to *.tgz
.7. <root> installpkg openoffice
Using the above noted steps all seems to go well, until after re-booting and starting up "x" as either ROOT or as a USER ... nothing! The "x" window displays show the Open Office files to be there but clicking on them, all I get is a bouncing cursor for a few seconds - then nothing!
