OpenSUSE :: Audacity Can't Locate An Ffmpeg Library?

Mar 31, 2010

I use Audacity quite a lot for conversion of a voice recorder, to convert WMA to FLACWhen I used it Mar 24 it worked, when used it Mar 26 it didn't.I used the locate pointed it to libavcodec.so.52 like it had there & it tells me it can't find it! At first I thought it was an update I'd done from the Packman reposonly when I went to Yast to revert only the most recent update was in there, no prior versions. Yet I Know that ffmpeg was among the updates it was blue when I did it then.Other distro's don't have this problem only Suse who or where or what should I do so that Audacity works in Suse again?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Audacity Not Recognizing FFmpeg?

Jan 17, 2010

I installed Audacity to convert an mp4 to an mp3. Now, I don't necessarily need Audacity to do this, but for the time being I'm more concerned with getting Audacity to work properly as opposed to getting an mp3 onto my iPod.

In Audacity, I went to Edit>Preferences>Libraries. For the MP3 Export Library, Audacity recognizes LAME, but under the FFmpeg Import/Export Library it says "FFmpeg library not found." I hit the Download button and read this page on how to install FFmpeg, noticing the warning about needing FFmpeg 0.5 or later on Linux.

I fired up Synaptic and searched for "ffmpeg," chose the vanilla version and installed it along with two dependencies which I don't exactly remember but I bet they were libavformat52 and libavdevice52.

Back in the Audacity Preferences window I chose the "Locate..." button to point to the newly installed libraries, but Audacity is not recognizing/installing them successfully. I've tried pointing to the following files:

/usr/lib/libavformat.so.52
/usr/lib/libavformat.so.52.36.0
/usr/lib/i686/cmov/libavformat.so.52
/usr/lib/i686/cmov/libavformat.so.52.36.0
/usr/share/lintian/overrides/libavformat52

[Code]....

Did I install the wrong version of FFmpeg or libavformat? Any pointers?

CentOS 5 :: Install Audacity , When It Ran, It Came Up With 'library Incompatibilies'?

Apr 1, 2009

I've been happily running Centos 5 (in fact kernel 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) for a while now.Today, I tried to install Audacity and although it installed OK, when it ran, it came up with 'library incompatibilies'.I looked around and found someone who had installed using ....

audacity-nonfree .... blah blah
compat-wxGTK26 ... blah blah

I installed these and Audacity ran OK ....However, then the problems started.I'm now getting a message from the software updater telling me that 185 packages need updating! I've tried letting it update and it downloads, checks dependencies and then stops without any upodates. Each reboot tells me the same thing. It seems obvious that no updates are in fact needed and I'd like a way ofstopping the message appearing.

Red Hat / Fedora :: Ffmpeg-php And Gd Module Loading / Unable To Load Dynamic Library?

Jan 19, 2010

fedora 12 with php 5.3.1 + apache is installed on the server

I needed a FFMPEG + MENCODER + FFMPEG-PHP setup , so I have installed all of the necessary libraries/codecs along with ffmpeg , mencoder and ffmpeg-php

I've added ffmpeg-php (ffmpeg.so) module to php.ini and restarted httpd

But ffmpeg was not showing up in phpinfo() so I grepped : php -i | grep ffmpeg
for some clues and got this warning
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: undefined symbol: php_gd_gdImageSetPixel in Unknown on line 0

That error explains why ffmpeg is not loading

Obviously something to do with GD library , so I've researched on the net , and found that some users suggest loading the GD module before FFMPEG module.

I gave it a try and added this at the end of php.ini:
Code: [gd]
;loading gd
extension=gd.so
[ffmpeg]
;loading ffmpeg
extension=ffmpeg.so ...but still same error when greping phpinfo()

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Audacity / Record In Audacity In 8.10 64 Bit On A Dell Studio 1535?

May 10, 2010

I am trying to record in Audacity in Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit on a Dell Studio 1535 laptop. The problem is not that its not recording, per se.Rather, the problem is its not recording the way that I want it to.

Its recording from the built-in mic, and I want to use the mic jack instead as a line in from a guitar (well, technically, an acoustic-electric resonator, but its close enough to a guitar to call it a guitar).

I have tried using various devices for recording, and changing settings in both the Volume Control and Sound Preferences, but no matter what I do, Audacity still records from my built-in microphones, instead of from the line-in.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Tune Audacity Recording With Pulse Audio?

Jun 18, 2011

I'm trying to capture audio from a stream, NOT from the mic. This is what I'm doing: Start Audacity, push its record button, play a song. It shows that it is recording but when I play back the results, all background noise, conversation, etc, is in the recording as well as the audio from the song. If the mic is unplugged, I cannot record what I hear coming from the sound card (as in what you hear from the sound card is what you get). I got directions on how to do what I want here ( Looking (maybe) for audio mixer for use with Pulse Audio - Page 2 Posts # 4 and 5) but it's not permanent. I got the instructions in post #11 from that same page to make such a change permanent. I tried using the instructions to make the change permanent (I backed up my default.pa just in case something went wrong) and these are the changes I had made:

Code:

### Load audio drivers statically (it's probably better to not load
### these drivers manually, but instead use module-hal-detect --
### see below -- for doing this automatically)
#load-module module-alsa-sink

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Make Audacity Find/recognize Ladspa Plugins?

Aug 18, 2011

I'm sure this is a painfully naive question, but I don't suppose it can possibly lower my reputationFor Good Reasons, use a custom build of the audio editor audacity rather than the version in the openSUSErepositories. What I can't seem to figure out is how to get it to find and load the LADSPA signal processing plug-ins. I have the regulation ladspa libraries (1.13-6.2) from the Oss repository installed. The files reside at /usr/lib64/ladspa . audacity is built with ladpsa support enabled, and indeed reports that it is enabled if I look at the Effects tab under preferences. I have even entered the ladspa library path in a "ladspa.conf" file under /etc/ld/so.conf.d, which may or may not help. Regardless, I don't seem to see the ladpsa effects listed when I run audacity

OpenSUSE :: Multimedia Codec Mess - Ffmpeg Options?

Mar 23, 2010

I'm writing a wrapper for FFMPEG and need help of a multimedia guru. The more I read about containers, formats and codecs the more confused I become, it all seems to be a pretty big mess. To convert a video file with ffmpeg you need to specify a few arguments for ffmpeg:

- input file
- some video/audio options (bit rates, sizes and so on)
- format (to force format)
- codec (to force codec)
- output file

My confusion is all about the format and output file extension. If I want to encode my file in MPEG-4, I'll use either 'libx264' or 'libxvid' codec. Then the encoded stream needs to be stored in a file. If I use '.mp4' as the output file, it'll be stored in that file. If I use '.mkv', the video will still be MPEG-4 but stored in a Matroska container. But what do I do with the format option? When I force the format to 'mp4', does it mean I don't have to enter output file, it'll be stored as '.mp4' anyway? Or if I use '-matroska' will I still have to put it into a container '.mkv'? Can I use a '-matroska' format but '.mp4' output file for example?

What's the difference between the format and output file in this context? Or what does forcing the format really do?

Programming :: SDL Static Library - Shared Library ?

Apr 7, 2009

I'm reading about shared, static, and dynamic libraries. What is SDL? Is it static, shared, or dynamic?

I always thought a library would be a lot of .h and .cpp files compiled separately into .o files and then if you compiled your own program you could use the -l parameter to link the library and it was all compiled together. Now I'm not so sure.

I don't even see any SDL .cpp files in my system anywhere. All I have are lots of SDL .h files in /usr/include/SDL and I don't really understand the code in them.

I'm making a wild guess here: SDL is a shared library. SDL itself is NOT compiled into my program, therefore SDL must be on any system my program tries to run on. When I compile and link SDL all it needs is the header files to know what SDL function and objects it can use. And then on every system it uses an already compiled SDL shared library thingy somewhere.

So... where is that part of SDL? All I can find are header files.

I'm thinking the advantage of shared libraries is that someone could say update SDL on their own system and take advantage of the new features without having to download new executables with the new version of SDL compiled into them for every program that uses SDL.

So if I'm making an editor and a game engine and they both use a lot of the same .cpp and .h files that I wrote and I'm tired of updating one and then the other and I need to turn them into a library, then a shared library might be kind of a silly solution. I could just make a static library. Right? Because it's not SDL. Nobody else is ever going to use this library.

I've installed, uninstalled and re-installed all available versions of the codec - no difference. Did anyone have any luck with it? Are there any tricks or conflicts in different arguments?
