I was wondering if there was some kind of anti-spam proxy available for debian, that could serve as a layer between my ISP's mailserver and my email client. Something light, as it needs to be installed to a guruplug server with not much storage available. It would be great if I don't need to configure a fully fledged mail server but if it can function on it's own, only filtering spam messages. I already found assp and qpsmtp, but I find these very difficult to setup and assp is like huge.

I have a networking website I've setup and we need to send notification mails to our members depending on activity related to their profiles(messages, comments etc).We are hosting the site on Centos5.6 with VirtualMin and are using Postfix as our MTA. We also use google apps for email on the site. Heres the problem, the mails go through for some gmail users but more often than not, they end up in gmail,hotmail and yahoo spam.We've setup the appropriate SPF codes on the server, DKIM and rDNS works fine.v=spf1 ip4:xx.xx.xx.xx a mx include:_spf.google.com ~all Below is a sample email that goes directly into gmail spam. I need help with header_check filter on postfix. In the last week mail users received a spam e-mail without subject line and I don't know what is the way to reject this. This is the example of message header:

1.Have installed ubuntu 10.04 on 2 pc's both run xp on 1 pc boot up selects xp the other selects ubuntu as the first choice. Why?

We operate a small ISP and are currently using a debian distro as our gateway server.Recently we have had an increased number of spam issues with customers (not them sending it directly, rather the customer getting infected with a virus/malware and then their computer becoming a bot).I'd like to set up another gateway of sorts to sit after our authentication gateway but before our backbone to provide spam filtering (and hopefully virus filtering) for any traffic passing through which might be email.I've tried searching for any linux based software which would suit, but I'm coming up empty.
Surely there's something already out there which can perform this task.Finally, just to clarify, I'm not talking about spam filtering for email accounts we host ourselves (this is built into our mail server); I'm talking about spam originating from customers PC's which is passing through our gateway (but not our mail server).
I'm trying to set up an mail filter for our domain. At the moment we're using ClearOS as the filter, works OK but I still get something through and the blacklist and whitelist doesn't seem to work. I was hoping to set up a mail filter on my own, using Spamassassin and/or something else. It seems I have to buy subscription at ClearOS to make it update better or something. I might just do that, it's just tempting to find a way to do it on "my own". I tried to follow these instructions but I don't seem to go anywhere... ...I began with setting up the base server as it is shown there. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a system running at home that uses Getmail to retrieve mail from my ISP's pop server. Dovecot then offers that mail over IMAPs to my desktops running Thunderbird.
The reason I have resorted to using Getmail is because I don't have a static IP (from my ISP) for my server, and thus this server doesn't act as an MX.
I have implemented Spamassassin in my Getmail script as described here.
From further research, I understand that in order to fully utilize Spamassassin 's potential, I have to resort to training it with SA learn.
Currently I still receive spam messages, but 50% of spam is marked as ****SPAM****, and the other half is not marked at all.
My question is this:
1) How do I get getmail to move messages marked as spam by spamassasin to be moved to a JUNK folder within my mailbox automatically?
2) I thought of creating a folder where my users can move messages they deem to be spam, and set up a crontab script to invoke salearn regularly on this folder to get the bayes engine to learn from it. Is this the correct way of doing it?

Unfortunately those rules also apply to incoming messages. My goal is to disallow users on my host to change their "MAIL FROM" to anything they like and restrict them to domains I specify. I'm aware that the local part still is variable and a user of domain "foo.com" could use a email of domain "bar.com", but still some of my troubles would be solved if I get this running.

I am using CentOS 5.3. I was half way through that and got an email that had ***SPAM*** in the subject. Haven't received any more. First of all I want to know if spam will still get delivered, and just have a modified subject. Second, I want to know how to set it up so Spam goes to a user's spam mailbox (Virtual Users). And third of all, is it possible to disable spam filtering on a user basis, preferably using MySQL tables? Is it possible for users to mark a message as spam, and all further messages sent from that address will be sent to spam folder but only for that user?
EDIT: Yes spam is getting delivered with a modified header, on the server site, how can i deliver to spam folder? how to create IMAP virtual mailboxes on request without having to send an email to them first? Using virtual users with Courier Imap

Postfix with mysql backend
Dovecot
clamav
spamassassin
amavisd
And it all works great. However I would like it for amavisd to forward all the marked spam into a folder on each user account, but I cannot figure this out.
how to defend from spam mail, actually i used centos. i want to absolutely block spam, my Mailscanner running ok but the spam still run off to my server. i do everything from tuning mailscnnner, spamassassin, amaisd-new but spam still send to user 10-20 per days.

Everything works now, in my mail box, I can receive the email with subject ******SPAM*****. but is there a solution, when spam assassin finished the scan and mark spam, if the score is very high, may be stop to forward it to exchange, for example, send it to a special email box?
I've got a web server that's hosting a few sites, and there are a few WordPress instances with these sites. With Wordpress, whenever a user registers with the site, they receive an email.With my server, it sends mail via Sendmail. This is all fine and good, except no matter what, it's flagged as spam. Is there any way to correct this?Keep in mind that this isn't a mail server, and the only reason the server ever sends mail is for new wordpress users and password resets.

i have an server which have my site on it, server have an public ip and site works fine..the thing that i done to enable mail server is :
1.select sendmail option as mail server(in joomla).
2.install and configure sendmail in server (which ubuntu installed on it )
**if i use my website locally mail server works fine i can send message and receive , but when i use web site from Internet mail server seems not working at all

One of the things we would like to offer to clients is the ability to relay email addressed to their company's domain to their own personal email address (either web-based, or hosted by their ISP).
Now, clearly there is a risk of our mail relay being marked as "open", and therefore becoming black listed as a source of spam. Not something that we want to happen!setting up such a system? I understand how I would go about configuring an MTA like Postfix or Sendmail to perform such a task, but I'm unsure how I would ensure that relayed mail is delivered and we're not labeled as spammers.
I did wonder if perhaps the "mail forwarding" options in a mail server like Zimbra would get around the issue by forwarding on messages inline or as attachments within new emails (so the messages would appear to be from the account hosted on our server).

The mail server is not on my local LAN, and all the primary users are roaming. They connect via TLS auth, which is required to make a sendmail connection to my server. I could whitelist all addresses in my domain, but then anyone spoofing my email wouldn't be seen as spam. How do I simply tell amavis-new and/or sendmail not to spam scan TLS authenticated users?
