I have Ubuntu 10.04 with no printer. I would like to send my files from Ubuntu to my Mac so I can print them there, since only my Mac has a printer attached. How do i go about it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedInteresting problem: For the first time with Xubuntu 10.10 64bit, I am finding certain applications print corrupt. A varying amount of letters / numbers either get substituted/print a blank space/ print a box etc etc. This corruption seems to happen from a Pdf ( evince ) or Spreadheet ( Gnumeric ) Opening the same Pdf on another machine (ubuntu 10.10 32bit) prints perfectly. Opening the same .xls file on the original computer but using OOo Calc prints perfectly.
I guess I have ruled out any problems with the printer itself or the network JetDirect box. I have re-installed CUPS and evince and upgraded to the latest version of HPLIP but the problem appears unchanged.
I cannot print pdf files. I have tried using okular and xpdf. The documents display in the program, but print preview shows a blank page. The printer then sends out blank pages. I have tried printing on 2 different printers using usb cables. Using terminal to process the commands shows error:

My wife has a canon MP470 printer and running ubuntu 10.10. I am able to print black and white, but unable to print photos. I got it to work using another driver, but not the 'correct' one for this printer. I have searched a bit and don't see anything about ubuntu 10.10, just older versions. Or should I just network her to my printer....?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI initially had a problem accessing the CUPS interface (see my other post) and got that resolved by adding the user "cupsys". Now, everything "looks" ok, and when I print a test page, it shows it as completed (in CUPS). However, the page never prints.
The printer is a Canon MP600 (using the canonmp600en.ppd file to configure it). Here's the output of my conf file.

I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 with a Laserjet 5M printer. When I attempt to print a job from Firefox or from Okular, the job never gets onto the print queue. However, I can print test pages on the printer and also print from OpenOffice, so this seems to be app-dependent. I know the jobs aren't being queued because the job number doesn't increase (as shown by the jobs for the test pages). Both Firefox and Ocular give every indication that the print job has been processed correctly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure when CUPS started acting up. I have the latest 13.1 current software installed.The first page to print is always OK, but all succeeding pages are overwritten. The second page shows the first page on top of it, and the third shows the preceding pages on top of it - and so on. Has anyone else seen this problem?I guess the printer buffer is not getting flushed correctly. If my configurations were trashed in some way, I don't know where to look for a fix.

I have a Netgear DGN2000 Wireless-N ADSL2 Router and I'm hoping I can access the Epson Printer from other PCs on my local wireless network.
How can I combine multiple single page prints into a single print job? For example, using Firefox on Linux one can print a web page such that each sheet of paper has four pages printed upon it. I would like to combine several separate web pages so that for example, web-page-a, web-page-b and web-page-c (each less than one print page long) are printed on a single sheet of paper.
I would like to do this without having to use some form of image editor to combine and manage manually created temporary files.
I'm trying to print a PDF from Windows through CUPS. I'm guessing it is supposed to appear somewhere on my Ubuntu machine, but I cannot find any files. When I go on the CUPS server and look at "completed jobs", it shows every print that I did, but I have no idea where the file is located.It is not in my Home directory.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed and have a win 95 installed as a guest machine in Virtualbox. I have found hundreds of articles similar to this: [URL]. Every article talks about cups print server's ip address, which always seems to begin with 192.168. I'm not sure I have understood what the print server IP address is. Is it the same as the IP address I get every time I start my computer? In that case it would be problematic since it's a new address every time. If it's not the same, how can I find out the ip address of the cups.

View 9 Replies View RelatedA couple days ago the update manager alerted me to a series of updates that were needed so I installed them. I didn't try printing anything until the next morning to find that both of my network printers were GONE! I went to add them back and they installed just fine but any time I try to print I get "Not Conencted" errors. But if I navigate to the printers directly (they both have web interfaces) they are fully functional and print just fine (self test print samples). Ubuntu 11.04 can see the printers when I search the network. I have tried CUPS and the Preferences/Printer/Add method and both add the printers just fine and let me do any type of configuration except I can't print.
I am not sure what was updated that might cause this type of thing. What can I do? Printers are both Brother network enabled printers and have worked 100% perfectly until the last update.
If i have a printer with wifi support and laptop with wifi capabilities, do i still need a wireless router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI live in Japan and am trying to print to a network printer (Richo Ipsio C411 PS). Couldn't find the ppd in the foomatic database. At my previous school, I had no problems printing to the printers on the network once I found the ppd. A few months ago, I transfered to a new site. Unfortunately, when I send a print job on the network here, the printer just gives a Japanese message that says "command error." I've tried other printers on the network (all different models of the Ipsio).
I went to the Japanese Ricoh website and it recommended a generic printer ppd. I downloaded that, but it didn't work. Then I got the ppd off of the windows driver CD and tried that. Again, no success. I have no idea what I'm doing (obvious, but should be noted) or how to get this started. I also tried 2 versions of Ubuntu -- I'm running 8.04 and 10.04.

In Ubuntu 10.10, I have my printer, an Epson D120, shared. I can print from the computer itself, but other computers cannot print to it. Both Ubuntu and Windows machines have the printer successfully installed. They can access it, I can access CUPS from all these machines and the the job queue even reports the jobs sent from these computers. But the page count is unknown and nothing is printed, although it says the job is completed.
I'm quite desperate to get this to work. It would suck if I need to go back to Windows just because some minor thing goes wrong. I really don't understand why local prints are OK, but prints from the network are not working.
Is there a way to show print all zones and associated records in BIND?

Our one remaining problem seems to be printing. She has an HP OfficeJet 6500 USB printer. We have the computer conntected. Strangely, when I boot from the CD the printer shows up as installed even though I did nothing to install it. After having submitted a print job it shows the printer status as "idle" and the print queue is empty. I tried deleting that printer and re-installing. The installation went as one would expect. However the results are the same. I'm beginning to think that somehow the problem is related to the fact that we are operating from the live CD. getting this thing to print from the live CD.

I have an HP PSC2110 that is connected to a Linksys WPSM54G wireless print server. Printing works great, no issues what so ever. I am wondering if anyone has been able to configure the scanner to work that way as well. If I connect the PSC2210 to my laptop via USB, XSane sees the scanner and works perfectly. I am trying to figure out if there is a way for XSane to see the scanner through the Linksys PS?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 on a laptop in a wireless system at home. It's all working fine. I can browse the internet without any difficulties. The problem is that I cannot print to my HP Laserjet 1022nw. The IP for the printer is 192.168.2.2 and I can reach it (and print) from my windows machine. But, if I use the laptop it cannot reach the server at 192.168.2.2 and all print jobs freeze. It's odd because I used the Ubuntu network printer install AppSocket/HP JetDirect connection and it found the printer at socket://192.168.2.2:9100 and installed the correct Foomatic driver. But now the browser cannot get to 192.168.2.2 and it wont print. What am I missing?

I am trying to figure out how to make my computer use my network in order to print thru. Another PC, (running windows vista) I know that the printer works, that I can print from another computer (because I have done it using windows XP) but I can't figure out how to print with fedora over my network.

Printer is made shared on the Windows machine.On the F15 machine, I can connect to all shared folders on the WinXP box via SMB.But trying to set up the printer connection from WinXP box to F15 is not working. I use Printing, then Network Printer, then enter the WinXP IP, then choose Find Network Printer. Note there's no CUPS or SMB printer choice - only AppSocket/JetDirect, IP, HTTPS/ and LPD. After a few minutes, I'm prompted to enter username and p/w for the WinXP machine, and the printer is located. Connection is verified.Connection is shown as Windows via SAMBA. I click OK and move to driver installation.

It prints a test page just fine but when I tell it to actually print a document, the status says: "Access denied, unable to connect" I have 2 printers connected and they installed fine in Vista one is a HP LaserJet 2100 series and the other is an HP Photosmart C5280. Like i said, they both print the teat page just fine.

This is ok for the MS windows office PC's, but not for the Linux based systems.The Linux user accounts have a different name than the MS Windows accounts.Because of this, it is not possible to print with that Linux user account. I can create a Linux user account with the same username as the MS Windows account, so that all users can use that account if they want to print something on the network printers. They can use it like:$ ssh <username equal to Windows>@<hostname> "oowriter <path>/<file>"
Now they can print a file from oowriter to the network printer.So my question is, is it possible to use the account name that is equal to the MS windows account name by default?

MS Windows account name = milk
Linux account name = schuurs
Linux account "milk" is created for printing by all users.
user works with account "schuurs" and prints with user "milk" automatically without the use of the ssh string mentioned before.
I'm using Slackware64 13.0 on a laptop. I've set up the network printer which lives on a Windows Vista machine (not my choice) in the family room. I am able to send print jobs to the printer. That part works fine, but the printer does not print. It simply stacks up print jobs with "error - printing" in the status of the first print job.I think I understand what's happening. I'm sending the print jobs to the print server as "Guest" and I have no guest account activated on the vista machine. I'm sitting here racking my brain (ie googling my goddamn fingers into stumps) trying to figure out how to send the jobs to the print server as indubitableness.
For the goddamn life of me I can't figure out what I need to do to send these print jobs as a specific user. I've tried adding "valid users = indubitableness" to smb.conf and I've tried using the -U flag when running lpadmin to add the printer to my system in the first place.The configuration wizard for windows doesn't appear to have any options to enable guest access or to add a specific remote location and/or user to the allow list.I'm at a loss and I'm losing my goddamn mind.
