I am using Ubuntu 10.10, not really sure that matters much though.I tried to use gnome-nettool to ping google.com (it is my default url I use when checking) and I get this error.

I tried it from menu entry and it didn't work. So I then tried it in the terminal "sudo gnome-nettool," it still didn't work and I saw the above errors.Now if I ping from the terminal command line it works fine. Just not with gnome-nettool.

I'm looking for software which will allow me to record a screen-cast of a terminal based application, recording keystrokes, timing of keystrokes, and audio. I see a couple of advantages to this approach over video capture: Display independence: the viewer can display text in any resolution/style they want, not limited to the resolution of the recorded video. Ability to copy and paste text from the screencast.

I am trying to duplicate our company website running from Centos 5.5 to another Fedora 13 box. The output is ok but when I tried to open 1 page which automatically search pdf files, this errors appear:

Downloaded the stable kernel 2.6.36.4 from kernel.org/ (Current Kernel:2.6.18-92.el5) However i have extracted the source code .ran make mrproper copied the old configuration file and selected it by using make menuconfig .However after selecting it and clicking ok i m getting following error.

Upgraded my 11.2 system to 11.3 today. Can't login anymore using gdm or xdm login window. The password prompt is displayed but no chars are echoed in the password field. when you click Login, it displays "Authentication failure" in the window. The logged messages in the /var/log/messages for the gdm-greeter are:

Is there a program there that can display screen cast commentary as text in a transparent window centered on screen ( in a window that looks like a GNOME-Do window or Growl notification window).
Feature am looking for is almost like the alossage mode in emacs. But instead of showing what is being typed, each press of a shortcut key displays in a notification dialog in the lower 3rd of the screen one line at a time from a predefined text file.
So now - I can define a text description for each step in the screen cast in say ~/castScript.txt During screen-capture press the shortcut key to display each line of the text from the file onscreen

Trying simply to insert into table. Have succeeded in doing this but now want to correct user use of invalid characters. If I'm understanding correctly, Real-escape-string seems to correct these, so I've been trying to figure out how to use it. A short, test code version gives me a syntax error at INSERT VALUES, which--because it still has the single quotes in the text--tells me the real-escape-string didn't work. The code below gives me a parseing error with invalid $END at </body>.

I have an ubuntu 8.04 running samba that's integrated with active directory but not using winbind. Things are working fine except there are lot of entries in the samba logs about:

This is in Firefox the only browser with Javascript I have. What certificate are they talking about? I just downloaded Opera: it works. It detects the defective certificate and asks if I want to proceed. How do I get Firefox to do that? Should I move this message to a different forum?

I recently purchased two MSI Windtop AE2220's. One for my home which uses a router with WPA2 protection and one for my office where I use WEP encryption.
The Realtek internal wireless card will not connect to a WEP router if you are running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04. I have exhausted all suggestions on this site and all drivers found at Realtek's site.
I have been using Ubuntu since Hardy Heron, but sadly, painfully, I have had to install Windows 7 on my office machine until I find a wireless card compatible with the MSI Windtop AE2220, Lucid and WEP.

Then, I imported .pcf files so that I can connect to the office VPN,but it gives me the error message above.I have gone to ~/.gnome2/keyrings and renewed everything.Tried moving them away, and then back again. Created a new keyring. Nothing.
