View 1 RepliesI have a Vizio router, I run Kubuntu 10.10, I set my Kwallet password to blank, but Knetworkmanager keeps asking for the router password (WPA2, 10 digit random). I tried Wicd as well; both of them have the same problem.
View 3 Replies View Relatedwe're using Network Manager with vpnc plugin (cisco vpn).According to our IT policy, we'd like to prevent the users from saving the password.I've been trying to set the value via gconf as mandatory, but the setting is blatantly ignored:system/networking/connections/1/vpn/ipsec-secret-type...I set it on "ask" and mandatory.I'm quite sure that's the wrong key.

My wireless card is "Atheros Communications Inc. AR2413 802.11bg NIC (rev 01)".
For some reason, networkmanager can not connect to network at all.
In NetworkManager log, it is showing "kernel: [ 28.002378] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready".
I try to find out why it can not connect to network by using knetworkmanager.
I've configured a pptp VPN using KNetworkManager. It works fine. Now I want to have it started automatically then my network interface is assigned a particular IP from my home DHCP server. I don't need it in other places. I guess there is no such built in functionality, but may be it can be scripted somehow?

By now I solved the problem by editing the:
Code:
/var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state.
How can I prevent Hibernate/Sleep from deactivating the Networkmanager?
I'm trying to get KNetworkManager to run a script after my wireless connection is activated. I created the script in /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d using the same format as scripts to start firewalls, but it doesn't seem to run. I can run the script successfully from the command prompt, but it doesn't happen automatically

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a really nuisance problem. I have two NAS servers - different makes - both of which work perfectly under Windows XP. I can write new files, save existing files without error. Both servers have drives formatted to FAT32 - the only option - although the OS's are almost certainly an embedded Linux. Both units are recognized by Ubuntu 10.04 - and I can write new files to them both without problem (although the directory does not refresh - I have to reload it). I can also delete without problems. If I try and save over an existing file I get an error "Unexpected error: Invalid argument" - I presume the implied delete is failing but am not sure. New files also seem to be saved with the Read Only flag set.OK - I can work round the problem by deleting the files (that works OK) and saving them anew. Works fine - but a backup is impossible as any changed file will give rise to the error.I have tucked both drives into the hosts files in /etc - although I attach by IP address (which is fixed) anyway.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWanted to replace knetworkmanager with wicd due to some intermittent connection problems that we had.
Did a search from opensuse search page and comes up with this
Index of /repositories/X11:/xfce:/nilda/openSUSE_11.3
Understand that this should be safe to use.
why is wicd not in opensuse's own default repository?
Dig a little deeper and found this link
Index of /repositories/system:/wicd/openSUSE_Factory/x86_64
Believe this is opensuse's own repository. But why is is not part of the default repository that is available to all users after install?
Question 3 How can I better understand the opensuse's repository. Are there good site/articles that give clear explanation on opensuse's repository

Since 11.2, I am using Knetworkmanager for getting connected to the internet. But is getting disconnected on its own every now and then. But in suse 11.2, having both KDE3 and KDE4 libraries does make system work unexpectdly. I tried installing Kinternet once but after that kontact kept crashing (because of clashes between kdelibs3 and kdelibs4).Can anyone help me finding out the problem in knetworkmanger.. here is entry in /var/log/NetworkManager when I got disconnected..

I'm configuring a computer for someone and I don't know the wireless network they will be using. (They are not technical.) I've setup networking to use NetworkManager. It works just fine. However, Knetworkmanager won't startup at boot/login. Therefore, the network doesn't startup automatically. I have to click on the icon in the menu to start it.That works well, but it should be configurable to startup automatically.I've searched this forum for answers and don't find any good ones. It seems there isn't an answer or there is a bug in KDE 4.x. (I'm using KDE 4.3.x)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've my OpenSuse installed both on laptop and PC.
The kNetworkManager works well on the laptop both on user account and root account. It connects to my mobile broadband fine.
The problem appeared on my PC. When I log into root account - everything seems to be fine, It connects through knetworkmanager - The cellular connection gets activated, I see X and a heart near "Activated". root account reads my DNS'es from resolv.conf
When I only log into the user account (not as root), the knetworkmanager connects - but as I've checked - it seems that it doesn't use the DNS adresses I've entered in resolv.conf (netconfig_dns_policy is set to "") so I can manually add openDNS to the resolv.conf). It just connects -
I did CHMOD the files resolv.conf and config in sysconfig/network - no luck.
The only way to bypass this is logging to root first - connect there, then switch to user while staying connected... but I think it's an annoying solution.
logs contain this when connecting from user account:
Code:
May 16 10:30:52 jaychyl-1-linux pppd[24965]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.4/nm-pppd-plugin.so loaded.
