View 1 RepliesEDIT: I am now just looking for a way to multi-task in PAM, if at all possible.
Basically I would like to supplement replace my password based logon with and RFID scanner. The output of the RFID scanner looks like this:
Tag Read: 0a006f4757
Tag Lost: 0a006f4757
Tag Read: 2800c48994
Tag Lost: 2800c48994
As you can see I scanned some different RFIDs.
Basically I would like for my logon screen to wait until my script gives the message "Tag Read XXXXX where xxx is the RFID unique ID.
In case I lose my RFID, I would like to also allow me to type my password in.
I'm looking for alternative to Adobe Acrobat Reader, a slim free PDF Reader with browser plugin, for example for Iceweasel.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have openSUSE 11.2, 64 bits. I use Evince from the very beginning. Since a few weeks, when I want to open a .pdf file, Acrobat Reader appears and reads my file. It seems to have become the default reader now. However, I never wanted to change from Evince :this simple program is well enough for me. I tried various ways, but I can't define Evince as my default .pdf reader. How can I make Evince to become my default reader again please ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy main wireless is an ActionTek DSL modem: it handles my incoming DSL, all my DHCP and DDNS, and it's a good Wifi base station throughout the house. Life is Good. I want wired access to a desktop PC upstairs: I tried a USB wireless stick, and it just isn't cutting it. I'm hoping I can use an old WRT54G wireless router, install some hew firmware, and use it as a wireless access point. I would like to plug the desktop into the WRT54G (cabled), have the WRT54G get a DHCP address and register the desktop's hostname in DDNS (wireless), and have everything work.
Q: Is "wireless access point" the correct term here?
Q: Should I go with OpenWRT (suggested in a previous post: looks very promising), DD-WRT, or Tomato?
I am looking for a router and trying to decide which one to go with based on the firmware I will want to use. I like how Tomato has alot of graphs and can show alot of graphical data. Does DD-WRT or Openwrt have as many graphs available?

How can i set my OpenWrt 10.03 router to not to use 192.168.1.0/24? instead, use a /32 mask, so every client, that gets an ip from the DHCP server just can't sniff the network traffic - it would be a great security feature to safely use e.g.: FTP!

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat are the pros and cons of various current model ADSL modem routers for use with DD-WRT, OpenWRT or Tomato? There are, of course, hardware compatibility lists (HCLs) for each of these (DD-WRT, OpenWRT and Tomato) but many of the models are no longer available and there are so many that researching them all would be onerous. Many pages on the Internet recommend the WRTG54L and that would be great but it is no longer an option except second user which is increasingly difficult. What are the pros and cons of the various chipsets: ADM5120, AR7, IXP4xx and BCM63xx?

I think I can eliminate Media Companion as the problem since all other samba servers work with it.
I want to trouble shoot this but don't even know where to start. How do I figure out what makes OPENWRT samba server different from the other 100% working FREENAS and PC-01 Servers?
How would you go about trouble shooting this?
I am trying to monitorize an OpenWRT (Backfire 10.03, r23115) router from an Ubuntu server, but I am having some problems. I have installed Nrpe (2.12) on the remote host (OpenWRT), I have executed the program as a deamon (/usr/sbin/nrpe -d) but when I start the NRPE deamon, I don't get anything about NRPE executing netstat -at or ps -ef.I would need to install check_nrpe on OpenWRT to find out if NRPE is working, but I can't find any ipk package with it. Now, once in the monitoring host when I try to reach the remote host from the server:
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H ip_remote_host
I get: Connection refused by host
Even, trying with localhost:
/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H localhost
I get the same error: Connection refused by host
I have installed Nagios Plugins and the check_nrpe plugin. I have edited the /etc/nrpe.cfg file:
allowed_hosts=127.0.0.1 ip_server
I don't exactly know if it is remote host's fault, monitoring host's fault or both.
I dual boot Windows/Fedora 11 on my Dell Latitude D830 laptop, which has an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card and I have just bought a Linksys WRT160NL wireless router. I am currently trying to set up OpenWRT linux on the router. Because of the nature of my problem I have also posted this on their forum.I am having trouble connecting to my OpenWRT install via Fedora. Things seem okay in Windows, but when I try to connect from linux my laptop locks up completely and I have to hard reboot. I previously have never had any trouble connecting to any other router with this install of Fedora.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just spent an hour at Google and the OpenWRT site looking for something that might be called a "List of Features." I did not find one.
I did find this: url but it is not an official project document so I'm left with as many questions as answers.
I know that OpenWRT uses dynamic packages for feature deployment, but I'd expect some sort of grid page -- package vs. edition -- or similar so that one might have some idea what is available to choose from.

I know that part of the Linux sociology involves some amount of "you just gotta know." However, unless one is a networking maven or wonk one does not know enough about network features to state which features one wants ... much less know what name to use in search or discussion.
I'm looking for a PDF reader that I can use over SSH in a terminal, and have it running in screen. Does such a thing exist?
Ideally I'd like at least a less-esque pager but with some PDF formatting, page numbering, and maybe even navigation through links in the document.
trying to find the best pdf reader. adobe reader is ok but with 10-11 pdfs opened, scrolling through each pdf, it gets kind of annoying having to physically click the inside of each pdf to scroll down, instead of switching tabs, and getting focus automatically
the default PDF viewer is pretty slow. i have about 200 pages with a great amount of images and adobe reader searched a lot faster. i find myself having to wait about 40-45 seconds for it to scan the whole PDF.
anyone have any suggestions out there on a better pdf reader?
i don't see my sd card reader ?(under xp this card reader "works" but don't read datas ?)

i've been using foxit pdf reader on Windows for sometime now, on Fedora i can't find any pdf reader that has tab feature so i can use only one window because i get to open a few pdfs at one time.
I have tried installing Foxit under WINE but scrolling through the pages takes forever
anyone know of any good pdf reader that has tab feature? i'm surprised that the outcomes of my searches haven't brought up a single Linux pdf reader that has tab feature...
