View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server.
I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine.But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command.
Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages.
Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser.So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..
On windows I really only used Notepad++ as my text editor, it had two features that I loved.What I need to accomplish is what I would do with Notepad++ column editor.I could have like 100 lines, and place the cursor at a column, and goto edit>column editor, and I could insert an incrementing number. (I could also pad the incrementing number with 0s, this was GREAT for making batch files among other things.)So each line at that column had a number higher than the previous line.The other feature that I used sometimes was a search/replace with regex patterns.Does anyone know of an editor that has those features for linux? I am mostly after the column editor insert feature but if you know of one with both features that would rock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm very new to Linux, and I have ran a Windows XP server before, with a Apache2 Server software for Windows. and didn't have any problems with it, but I really want to set this server up with Linux.
The server is running, but the only thing that comes up in the browser, is the html pages, the pages call all the images from a folder /images/ but for some reason I can't get it to pull the folder up. None of the graphics show on any of the pages.
I also have a VirtualHost setup, and have another website set up in the DocumentRoot with the 2nd site, but it won't come up ether, even tho it is listed as the 2nd VirtualHost, and have that folder set up as the DocumentRoot.
I'm just using IP Addresses for now till I get this all sorted out.So if I enter the IP the main page comes up, just no graphics. if I enter the IP Address/2ndSiteFolder/ I get a directory listing with the 2nd site folder listed, so now if I click on the 2ndSiteFolderName, it comes up as IP/2ndSiteFolder/2ndSiteFolder/ Now the 2nd site comes up, and so does all the Graphics for that site, even if I go to some of the other subfolders site. So its just weird. I don't know what I need to do to get this to work right.
I know it has to do with setting up the folders for VirtualHost, I just don't know what it is. I have been working on this for a week, and I'm not getting anywhere..
Does anyone know of any man pages that would provide me information on commands in shell scripting like while or case? I have a test tomorrow where we have to write shell scripts and we're allowed to use the man pages, but not allowed to look at previous scripts. I don't feel like memorizing a bunch of commands if I don't have to.

I did the yum install and I found this helpful link...However when I try to change the dir it puts the info into, it keeps giveing me an error cannot cd to the directory. I changed the /etc/webalizer.conf file as described in the above article and try to run it manually same results. /etc/cron.daily/00webalizer Error: Can't change directory to /home/webalizer/When I put the original dir back in the path it writes to /var/www not /var/www/output like it should. I even tried a local /var/wwww/output dir. Then I tried a link to /home/webalizer/output (a dir I created) and same results.(with orginal .cfg in place)I go to my www page remote or on the local network I get page not found errors.In summary.1. Why wont the /etc/webalizer.cf file allow me to change the location of the files?2. How do I display the www page to view the data?3. How can I secure the www page so only I can view the data.

To view a page from inside the games own browser(it has an internet browser style menu) there is a button that says "open in external browser" I've used it hundreds of times to save that particular page to a folder when I was in windows but now that I'm using fedora it doesnt do anything. Now when I connect to the internet, some of the pages now are not displayed properly. For instance, when visiting E-bay, the listings look fine, but my E-bay page is all listed down the page, (if that makes sense) and I cannot look at any of the photos. MSN is also, how can I put this, spread out across the page. I have done a live update to see if that makes a difference, but no joy.

My screen resoultion is set to 1366*768(16.9) by default because the font size on web pages looks too small. I am not able to understand if it is font size too small or is it a resolution set too high. I am trying to fix this because I find very difficult to read web pages specifically. I tried to zoom in on firefox, but that is not permanent solution.
I want to decrease my screen resolution. I opened drop down and I find following:
None of the above resolution suits my laptop. The monitor type identified by Ubuntu says Laptop Monitor.
