I have downloaded it from GrooveNet Vehicular Network Simulator :: University of Pennsylvania & Carnegie Mellon there is a set-uo guide but I have a problem. I have to open the project within KDevelop or go to the src directory and type "make". I am an undergraduate student doing some work in Cambridge, MA on NS2. As my project/paper relates to simulating different types of applications like FTP, RTP, and SIP, as they relate to commercial products (VoIP, email, bittorrent, http) and congestion, I was wondering if anyone knows of any simulation models already available besides the example ones released by NS2 and the contributed code found at [URL]. Also, does anyone know of any tcl scripts that simulate specific applications (including the transport layer and Internet layer)? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NS2 2.34

I am and Ubuntu user, and recently became interested in KDE 4, since it obviously looks much more modern that GNOME. I tried Kubuntu, but didn't really like it that much, so I downloaded openSUSE 11.3 and installed it on an old 40 GB IDE hard drive, leaving my existing Windows/Ubuntu HD untouched. The only problem is the Wi-Fi doesn't work, although it did work on the liveCD. Issuing the command gives the Wi-Fi card as being a RaLink RT2561/RT61. Does anyone know how to fix this? I really hope I can get this fixed, as I've heard some great things about openSUSE KDE, and would love to make it my primary OS, completely dumping Ubuntu. I'm using the 64-bit CD.

I have two NIC Ethernet card (eth1 and eth2) on the same computer (linux) connected by a cross cable.
The two interfaces are on the same subnet :
eth1 : 192.168.200.1 255.255.255.0
eth2 : 192.168.200.2 255.255.255.0
Then i add a route for each interface :
route add -net 192.168.200.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth1
route add -net 192.168.200.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 eth2
Finally,i'm trying to ping :
ping 192.168.200.1 -I eth2 or ping 192.168.200.2 -I eth1
Ping command reaches error : Destination Host Unreachable

My wifes networked computer connected to the network just fine when it was Win XP. Now that Ive converted it to 10.04 (completely) it can see the network, but it just wont connect to it. I had no problem converting my computer to Ubuntu and it sees the network and accesses it great. Files, folders and hard drives are all shared. So, one computer connects great, the other does not.**I dont know what to do at this point. Here is the layout:My Comp (10.04) ---------......Main Network Comp (XP)Wife Comp (10.04) -------/The main network computer is XP as it has software on it we need that does not work in Wine. The main computer will have to stay XP. I cannot get my wifes computer to connect to the main system, although mine connects just fine. I dont know what the problem is. Her computer sees the network, but when trying to connect, it times out and says unable to connect.

I have a linux machine on my university network where I usually log in via ssh from home. I have know the ip, so this is what I use to log in, but it would convenient to know if my computer have a hostname on the local network (it's easier than remembering the ip).I set up a hostname when I installed linux on my pc, but it's not the name associated with that ip on the network. Is there a way to find out if there's a name associated with that ip?

I have a computer on my network being extremely sluggish and I cannot find the reason why. I can ping and the response time is decent enough at 0.137ms up until something that requires network access is run(cvs, SSH, ls on mounted drives). At that point the ping jumps up to 6000ms, sometimes up to 12000ms.
I have looked through /var/log/messages and found nothing suspicious and I have not seen any problems on other networked computers when accessing the shares. Disk usage on this computer is fine(470GB free) and memory is fine as well(up to 10GB free). The computer is on CentOS 5.3.

Im trying to find a way in redhat to see if there is a command that could tell me the actual used memory by the system. For example when i do the free command, i want to see the Used minus cached value. Is there a way linux can report the true used memory and not the cached/buffer etc? if there is not specific command for that, can someone tell me a bash script that could calculate used-cached ?

I multi-boot several Linux distributions with an assortment of additional data partitions. I get frustrated whenever fsck is forced during boot. (It ONLY happens when I'm in a hurry don't you know...) So I wrote a script to automate forced fscking when I do have the time. (And/or while I'm doing something else in another workspace.
Because I multi-boot, I've learned that udev doesn't always assign the same device name to each drive for all distributions. I've had the same partition identified as hda5, sda5, & sdb5 by different distributions (without doing anything to affect the boot order) So my solution is to keep a list of partitions in a specific file on each distro with valid device names according to that distribution's udev process. Actually I'd use LABEL= instead but the labels don't show up in /etc/mtab, and I like to make sure a partition isn't mounted before I try to fsck it.
I can make this work in a for loop using cat. But I've seen so many things about NOT using cat that I wanted to rebuild my script. I can make this work with a redirect instead of cat via a while loop, But I "LIKE" old style for loops. But I can't seem to find a way to make a redirect work with one. I thought this might make a good first LinuxQuestions.org question. I'm also open to any other suggestions on better/alternative methods... Is it possible to redirect from a file into an actual for loop?
My script is as follows:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
# FsckEm I script to force file system checking on unmounted ext2/ext3/ext4
# partitions in preselected list. FsckEm accepts no options. Partition
[code]....

I'm confused about "hard link" feature. I've been learning from my UNIX Academy DVDs training that hard links to a file can be many and each of them is an effective filename for the associated data. So let assume that we have some very sensitive data in a file and we want it to be deleted and file has 20 links. I "delete" a file, but in fact I deleted only one "name" of it. My understanding from the training that data is still there until we delete the last associated hard link. But how can I find the names of all of them? If we have the names, they can be removed one by one. Or may be there's command that can trace all the "names" and remove them at once?
