Ubuntu :: Get Photoshop Onto Ubuntu 9.10 32bit ?

Mar 16, 2010

I just made the switch over from Windows. I have been using Linux distros off & on but never got to learn the power of Linux until my latest college class I took. I decided to turn my back on Microsoft OS as of today! I have no plans on going back anytime soon. I have been a long time digital artist using Photoshop & Illustrator. So my question is how can I get Photoshop onto Ubuntu 9.10 32bit ? I just installed WINE & I have a real CD copy of Adobes Photoshop CS3.

Ubuntu :: Adobe Photoshop CS4 Install?

Sep 15, 2010

I have recently converted to Ubuntu, so I must mention now I am new to Ubuntu. The Ubuntu version I am running is 10.04 I was looking for ways to install Adobe Photoshop CS5, but when I try to run the Setup.exe with WINE, it runs the installing setup, but then after it loads the window closes and it doesn't do anything from that.

Is there any way to fix this at all? As I am starting to miss Photoshop. P.S. I know there is an alternative program such as GIMP, but it takes forever to do something in GIMP which it takes like 1 minute in Photoshop to do. If there is not a fix for this...is there a program that is like Photoshop, but not like GIMP?

Fedora Installation :: Take The 686MB 32bit Iso Image And Put It On A 2GB Usb Drive And Boot / Install?

Feb 5, 2011

i have been working with computers since the age of 11 "22 now" and have taught myself everything i know, from computer repair & networking to Web design, music production and Graphics design, using programs like photoshop, dreamweaver, sony acid, i learned it all myself, anyways that's just a little insight!!!

OK so here is my problem, i have an OLD P4 2.8 GHZ PC with 512MB ram, last year i was able to burn i believe fedora 9 to a CD and install it on this PC before i removed the drive to use as an external drive. "Dont know where the CD went"

I just recently purchased a 40GB hard drive and am looking to reinstall Fedora 14 on this P4 PC, i want to use this PC as a HTPC just for internet, ..... and stream videos, maybe some internet games etc etc, my problem is my main PC cant burn any cd/dvds due to the Drive's being burned out from burning xbox games at 4x on a regular basis, the PC i want to install Fedora on only accepts CD's and even then it barely reads anything!!

Now that you know my situation i want to know if i can take the 686MB 32bit iso image and put it on a 2GB usb drive and boot/install it to the HD that way on my old P4 PC, i want Fedora 14 as my main desktop, no partitions or walk arounds. If this helps the mobo on that OLD pc with the P4 is a p4vmm2 v5 i believe the p4 is 2.8ghz, ram is 512mb and i was able to install a 64mb nivida card agp 4x over the stock 32mb agp card it came with!

Last year windows xp was sketchy on it, i installed i think Fedora 9 and it ran great, but at that time it was a 120GB maxtor ide, and i decided to use it as an external drive for my main pc to back up alot of goodies, in the end the drive just randomly stopped working and just a few faint clicking sounds before it died. The current hard drive i will be installing on this P4 P4VMM2 mobo is a 40GB Seagate 7200. In the end do you think i can do a HD install from a USB stick with this P4VMM2 MOBO with a 40GB Seagate 7200 HD.

Ubuntu :: How To Install 32bit Libsasl2 On 64bit Lucid

Jul 23, 2010

The current libsasl package on 64bit Lucid is libsasl2-2 (2.1.23). However when I was installing Scalix, it needed 32bit libsasl2 which is 2.1.22 or something old. Although I can download 32bit libsasl2 package from web, it requires a lot of other libs and some of them are not available.So my question is: is it possible to install an old 32bit package on Lucid 64bit? Or are there other ways to solve the problem without installation of new packages?

Ubuntu Installation :: 64bit Use More RAM Than 32bit?

I have downloaded the 64bit version of Ubuntu 10.04. I am currently using 8.10 32bit and I want to clean install 10.04 64bit version. However the one thing that is putting me off is that I have heard if your PC has 1GB of RAM or less then 64bit won't run very good because it uses more RAM than 32bit. (my PC has 1GB) So the question is: Does 64bit use more RAM than 32bit?

Ubuntu Installation :: Can't Boot In 10.04. 32bit

May 4, 2010

I've made a fresh install with the alternate cd, because for same strange reason I was unable to boot into the live CD.

After the instalation, I have rebooted the PC and under the log in screen of ubuntu 10.04, was a path or line of text describing an error (can't remember the type of error.)

Then the line disappeared, and i was able to log in normally.

Everything looked fine, after some testing and tweaking of the new system, I tried to reboot (to test). I choose ubuntu 10.04 in grub manager, and then there was just a sea of code on a black screen.

The previous release of ubuntu worked well on my PC

Ubuntu Installation :: Migrating From 32bit To 64bit?

Mar 15, 2010

Ive been using Ubuntu 32bit on my work Dell E6400 for nearly a year now with no problems. It is capable of running Ubuntu 64bit and Ive tried out the live CD which seems ok. I have a spare 40GB HDD and a USB caddy so Id like to install Ubuntu 64bit onto that and start working with that as a trial. Once im happy I can get all the usual things I need for my work (like vpnc) working then I'll wipe the main internal HDD and install Ubuntu 64bit.

Apart from backing up my home directory, id like to backup a list of my installed packages as a list of reference so I know what to add into my new install. Is there a "apt" command to do this and list the packages in a way where if I install those packages, I'll not hit any dependancy problems by installing one before another?
