I have installed gtkdatabox but when i compile i get error that glade 3 and libglade 2 modules are not installed. But I have already installed them still this error is coming :

I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".
View 16 Replies View RelatedI keep getting an error when trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 on Windows 7. I insert the cd and then restart the computer. Everything looks like its loading great, but it gets stuck on the loading screen. So I pressed Esc, and it shows the following errors:

I wanted to install adobe reader on my ubuntu 10.10(Maverick Meerkat).I have downloaded the file and copied it on my desktop.I had then browsed to the desktop directory through command line terminal.
I had tried all the possible combinations of the commands but still i get a "file or directory does not exist error"

I tried without the sudo and this is what i get

The file is present in the desktop.
P.S: Cannot install .bin package on Ubuntu
Actually,my ubuntu 9.1 was running smoothly but now it gives a message to install b43 firmware and a site name to install it.I could have installed it but ubuntu just get stuck after that message.Is there anyway to install through windows?

I have macbook pro,coare 2 duo 64 bit processor so i downloaded slackware13.1 64 bit but before installing it,i wanted to try it on virtual machine but it is giving me error "this kernel requires an x86-64 cpu,but only detected an i686 cpu. unable to boot-please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu". When I run the Universal Installer and select GParted it brings up the Hard Drive (SDA -ATA Toshiba MK6015MA 5.595 Gib) is on Old Compaq Presario 1200. I'll select that drive and hit ok it just takes me back to the Universal Installer Screen. When I first started the Hard Drive was listed and somehow I must have removed it. Is there another program where I can select the HD and partition it etc.

I have used OpenSuse-11.0 on my PC for over an year. but when I tried to upgrade to OpenSuse-11.1, I managed to install it only to find that several features were missing. for example /dev/cdrom was missing.
Also install DVD of Fedora 11 did not work.
I have also tried Ubuntu-9.10 live cd. When I boot from the CD i get the initramfs command prompt. Still able to install old versions of these OSs.
What is the reason for this behavior?
Does it have to do anything with the new version of the linux kernel not being compatible with my hardware?
What should i do to install new versions of Linux?
