The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

I have a bluetooth-enabled notebook and I used to eventually turn on/off the wireless switch, which disabled wi-fi and bluetooth capabilities.Recently I turned on the switch to find the bluetooth icon missing from the Notifications area at the panel. When I type bluetooth-properties at the terminal a windows pops up saying "Your computer does not have any Bluetooth adapters plugged in." No further hardware/software changes were made recently.

a) bluetooth does not detect my nokia n 70 (n 70 detects my laptop but i cant send or receive any files unless it is paired)
b) alternatively when i try to send a file from nokia, it asks for pairing and i key in the pin. then the window hangs and i have to log out and log in. in bluetooth paired deviced i can find my nokia but i cant configure it to connect to the internet...
c) in office i have to connect through a proxy. i am not able to apply it system wide (as the option network proxy is not shown)

I cannot get the dvd drive to recognize, nor can I get a usb stick to boot on startup despite setting the bios to do so. It's an averatec 3200 and it supports booting from usb. I have removed the HDD and put it in an IDE external case and formatted it with my macbook as FAT32 for now. I'd really like to install linux (linux mint 9 xfce or other) to the external HDD, then put it back into the laptop.
When I searched the forums and google, external hard drive installs center around either usb sticks (which I can't use) or installing to an external HDD for portability. I want to be able to install from a second laptop (I have both PC and mac available), remove the drive and install into the laptop the drive came from and finish the setup. I can not use a live CD or USB to do this because the CD drive is not working and I have yet to get a usb stick to boot (it goes straight to the HDD even though I changed the order in bios).
I just found out that jobs -l and man jobs produce no output in my terminal. how could I fix that? How could I install jobs command and its manual on my ubuntu 10.10 ?

He wanted Knoppix, but I read that Ubuntu was a good choice for this machine and we both want to make the switch to Linux. just too many flavours to choose from. I also have Knoppix 6.4 on disc, but haven't used it on any machine yet. My desktop is next ASUS P7P55D wintel 4-core. Can I use Ubuntu 1010 on it as well? Looking at the manual I have to build the device driver. On the page is computer programing formulie that looks like a foreign language. I do not know computer programing. At the bottom of the page it says:-
