I wouldn't have a lot of time for repairing my laptop and until now Ubuntu has been flawless. When I open evolution sometimes i cannot view my inbox? although I can view my other folders of which i have about 8 or 9. I suspect this is an issue with the storage folder for my inbox, but where would i find it?
I am using 10.10 but am having a problem with duplicates being automatically downloaded into my inbox in evolution. This has not happened under 10.04 with the same settings. How torid my inbox of the dupes? It seems to have faded away after the "official release" but I still have a messed up inbox. I use gmail recent mode with pop settings.
I am using CentOS, In Evolution mail, I was not able to send/receive my mails. When checked I found my Inbox exceeds 2.1 GB in size. I renamed my Inbox to Inbox.old and made a new Inbox in evolution. Now mail is working fine. but I want to get my old mails also. Is there any solution to get my mails back ? Also please tell me the cause of this problem
I just installed ubuntu for the first time today, and setup Evolution to check my email from my hotmail account. All went fine, I downloaded all my emails from the last 7 years but then when I actually logged in to my email account on hotmail.com all of my messages were gone and my inbox empty. I was hoping that it would downlaod a copy of my messages - I still want a copy in my hotmail inbox for backup just in case something happens to my computer. Anyway, so my question is there a way to put them back into my hotmail account? I know its not as though I have lost them forever, I just would like the last 7 years of important emails on there in just in case.
when all the other messages in my inbox suddenly disappeared. I have checked all the folders in evolution and tried showing hidden message (from the view menu) while looking in each folder in case I had managed to do something really weird by mistake, but they appear to have vanished. The message I dragged over to the new folder is however there! The other weird thing is that the trash folder has randomly partially emptied itself at the same time, and it is not set to empty itself on exiting the program. What have I done and how do I get them back??? I don't care about the trash but need the inbox messages back.
I've just hit an artificial 2GB file limit with my Inbox. WTF is this about, on fedora core 12 ! This is the type of crap I moved away from windows to avoid....
Now what ? I have to delete mail ? Migrate client ?
I routinely create files of over 12GB so its not a filesystem problem or limit .
I'm currently working on telling my Ubuntu Laptop to do everything I'm able to do with my MacBook. Not so much the look (I love Ubuntu's look) but the functionality.I somehow can't seem to get a unified inbox in Evolution. I got 6 IMAP accounts each with a separate inbox which is quite annoying. I've gotten used to Apple's Mail.app and I'm missing that option in Ubuntu. The only thing that COULD be a unified inbox would be "On this Computer" but I don't see any option to integrate my accounts to it.
How do I get to a "master" inbox in Evolution? One that shows all emails from all inboxes of all accounts I have integrated? There is one that looks like it should be the one (under a heading titled "On This Computer"), but it is not showing any emails.
I switched from using a webmail interface to using Evolution over IMAP. I wanted to do this so I could have all my mail stored local and be able to search and work offline if need be. I'm now logged in via Evolution and can read my mail. I have the INBOX folder configured with "Copy folder content locally for offline operation" checked. But it's only storing each of the messages I actually read. I have over 9000 messages in this and other folders, so clicking on each of those is not practical. How can I trigger a "download everything in this folder" operation? I don't see anything obvious in the menus. I tried some things mentioned in the FAQ that might have implied this, such as double clicking the folder. But nothing is pulling down all the mail into local, besides doing it one by one for each message I manually read.
I configured it to use IMAP to access our exchange 2010 server front end on a LAN connection. Our webmail connection is segregated behind Forefront, so it was not connecting/authing that way. Even though smartphones have no problem. (sidenote, is there an activesync linux mail client ?)
I have many root folders and several folders underneath my inbox. total mailsize in inbox is 3.5 GB without subfolders. The sent is likewise as large. And is likewise empty.
Things I checked already: View is all Folder subscription is on and local copy is on
More info: Thunderbird worky fine. But thunderbird is missing calender Tried adding lightening, but it won't add into thunderbird. Will try finding a diff add on, or if anyone knows how to get lightening into thunderbird 3.1.8 on ubuntu 10 that would be great as well.
I tried to use evolution as mail manager for my yahoo account, and now it works but there is really big problem for me. Evolution sucked and deleted ALL messages I had on yahoo so now I can't find them with any other computer except this one ! This is really bad because I'm on the move all the time and it is impossible to access my contacts or reply to some message from cell phone for example ! Can I somehow recover all inbox from evolution to yahoo mail ?
The Inbox of any accounts randomly disappear from the left browser pane. It is virtual: no harm to the account itself. It is easy to get them back by disabling and enabling the account, but then it may disappear again in a while.I saw this in a bug report later, but no fix. I shouldn't like to degrade to an earlier version, unless no other way.
I found this email in my inbox. From time to time it's showing up here then Evolution starts downloading messages again and duplicates all my inbox. I think.
Is there an option in Evolution to return to the Inbox view after you delete a message, rather than going on to the next message? I cannot find it anywhere.Incidentally, this same question is one of the zero-reply questions: URL...I wonder if this means there is no such feature in Evolution and I should submit some kind of "feature request" at their development site.
I've just upgraded to 11.04 and I created a evolution-backup.tar.gz file as I've done in other upgrades. When I restored the backup and started Evolution, I've lost all the emails in top-level folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc). My own custom folders within these top level folders contain the emails that I backed up. There are quite a few important emails that I've yet to respond to in my Inbox and this is very concerning. Also, I've lost all my Contacts!
I need to know how to have evolution, in the folder pane, show a separate inbox for each of my email accounts, i have 2. they both send receive fine, just a matter of organization.
Just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 - from 10.10, and now experiencing connection problems with Evolution connecting to my IMAP Microsoft Mail Server. This was working, I was successfully receiving and sending mail via my IMAP setup in Evolution. Since the upgrade to 11.04, it stopped working with the error: "Error while Refreshing folder "INBOX". You must be working online to complete this operation." I check to see if it's in online mode, and it is. I set evolution to work in offline mode. Then I set it back to "online mode" and I get the error: "Error while Reconnecting to 'IMAP Server mail.foo.blah.de.bla". Could not connect to mail.foo.blah.de.bla: Connection Refused"
I want to view a hard drive and see if it has all zeroes, how would I do this? I want to view a hard drive and see if it has all random data, or random data mixed with zeroes. How can I do this? I prefer to do all this in linux if possible without a gui...so looking for any cli tools to view with.
I would like to sort ALL my Evolution email folders in reverse date order (most recent message to appear first). You can create a customized view, but you then have to apply this view to EACH folder individually - not fun if you have hundreds of folders... I don't seem to be able to edit the "default" view called "Messages", the Edit button remains greyed out when you select that view...
How can I make a sorted list of all users on my local machine who currently have mail in their 'Inboxes' (i.e., their spool of delivered but not yet read email). I also need to include "system" users and list one user per line.
I'm looking for a script that copies a random .jpg from a random folder in my ~/Pictures folder to my ~/temp folder with a standard filename. This file will then be displayed in Conky. I can fix the last part, but I cannot find a way to do the first part.
I have been working in macromedia dreamviewer for editing html and php files, Just now I moved to linux system by installing xampp , my question is that I need a best html and php editor that supports both the design view and code view as like in dreamviewer.
I have Dovecot up and running however Thunderbird nor Evolution can see mail in the users inbox. Getting no errors from them either thunderbird nor Evolution. On the server (Cento 5.3) the email is in /var/spool/mail/ username. Sending a receiving email on the server itself whats fine using the mail commands. Is their a setting in Dovecot I'm over looking?
I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

System:Thunderbird v3.0.5Ubuntu Lucid LynxEverything works fine with Thunderbird until I view the Inbox. When I start thunderbird the "Whats New in Thunderbird" tab is shown. As soon as I click on the Inbox tab the RAM is filled to 97% and the system slows down immediately. After killing thunderbird everything works fine.
I have a server that cannot generate enough entropy to support /dev/random. The particular piece of software having problems can't be configured to use /dev/urandom.
I tried moving /dev/random to /dev/realrandom and symlinking /dev/random to /dev/urandom, but lsof /dev/realrandom still shows processes using it.
In Does urandom share the same entropy of random?, the suggestion is to use mknod /dev/random 1 9. Will this hold across restarts? Should I be using udev somehow?
