View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm curious if anyone know how to plot stem-and-leaf plot using perl? Basically, what I was wanting to do is read a bunch of numbers from a text file into an array, sort from smallest to biggest, and plot the following (last digit serves as the "leaf", so for example, for the following graph, going down from top to bottom is 7, 7, 12, 13, 18, 18, 23, 25, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 27, 28, 28, 29, 59, 30, 31, 31 etc.):

I have a large collection of music albums sorted in folders which are named like this: "Zombie Ritual - 2004 - Night Of The Zombie Party" (%{artist} - %{year} - %{album}). I want to rename them so as to be indicative of the bitrate, for example, "Zombie Ritual - 2004 - Night Of The Zombie Party" => "Zombie Ritual - 2004 - Night Of The Zombie Party (@320)". It will be hard to do this manually. I tried to use EasyTag and Kid3 to do this, but they cannot add bitrate to tags.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI made the fatal mistake of hibernating on my Lenovo T61. Ubuntu wouldn't wake up after that, I tried pressing all kinds of key combinations and nothing. So I did a hard shut down and now Ubuntu won't start. On the grub menu I chose Ubuntu with Linux 2.6.35-7 normal mode and it just shows the screen that says "Ubuntu 10.10" and the four dots underneath indicating loading.
So I tried recovery mode and it stops at:
fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
/dev/sda5: clean, 688078/4988928 files, 15488354/19939072 blocks
I also tried unplugging the laptop and removing the battery and putting it back in and plugging and restarting. Nothing changed. Then I tried restarting without the battery in and now the normal mode just shows a black screen and a flashing cursor. I also have the USB stick I created to install Ubuntu, which worked back then, but now, it won't start from the stick, I checked the Bios options and the USB is the first boot device, I really don't know how else I can make it start from the USB.
write a script to generate a bar graph/chart/histogram etc that can make the analysis part simpler.
While dealing with so much data, i fear a manual approach could lead to human errors and hence thought that a script might be a better approach.
as you should see, top is indicating 3.544.864kb (3.5Gb) of memory used while gnome system monitor only 609Mb. What's wrong here? (I am pretty sure Gnome SM is right. Top is updating every sec.)

I updated my system from FC13 2.6.34.7-66 to 2.6.34.8-68 for both the kernel and the kmod-wl RPM's. After doing so, iwconfig wlan0 key 1234567890 no longer works. I get an error indicating 'invalid argument'. If I reboot using the previous kernel/wl.ko module, it works The size of the wl.ko module increased in size by almost 30%. Did I somehow get the wrong RPM?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been a while since I did any kind of graphics programming, but I would like to start learning how to do graphics stuff in *nix. I started reading the GTK+ 2.0 Tutorial, but a) I've only been able to write a small "Hello World" program, and that tested my patience, and b) I'm not seeing anything which allows you to plot a pixel directly. Back before I migrated to Linux, I used the Windows GDI SetPixel() function for plotting pixels sequentially (this was for a small fractal generator). Mostly what I'm asking is if there's any kind of equivalent function in *nix graphics APIs? GTK+? Would I have to deal with SDL/OpenGL?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Maverick on an HP dv6 laptop. I tried recording a video via VLC with the machine's 'TrueVision' webcam. The result seemed to lack audio, so I had a look in preferences > sound. The input tab had the mute button ticked, so I unticked it and tried adjusting the level (while realising I was probably just configuring the mic port and not the webcam's inbuilt mics).
Then things turned bad: pointer became sluggish, and changes I made to the level slider took ages to be reflected visually on screen. I queued up a pile of clicks on the 'close' button and went away for a while. On return, I was met with a box inviting me to stop a script with some screen-width-long incomprehensible name, which of course I did.
Now the system's in a state which sees windows missing title bars (tho' not menu bars) and (more problematically) the upper and lower bars on the desktop absent. I issued a hibernate command from the terminal in the hope that on waking the system would be 'fixed', but nothing changed. I tried alt-tabbing to access my open applications and close them gracefully but this command is ignored. I have 'zillions' of apps going with unsaved data and am not sure what to try next. I'd be happy just to be able to task switch to each open prog and exit it gracefully then restart. But my knowledge of the command line is such that your help is required =) .
How do I plot error bars for say, every 100th point, instead of for every single point? At the moment my plot looks like a thick band instead of a thin curve, since every point has an error bar attached to it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to gnuplot linux based plotting tool. I am trying to plot data from multiple data files and I want each plot to be open in a separate window. This is not happening in gnuplot script I have written, it holds the current window and plots the next data on the same window.A way I found to see separate plots was to use multiplot, but this plots multiple plots in the same window. Can someone tell me how to plot multiple plots in separate window in gnuplot? I could not find the answer in documentation/man pages.

host_name firewall ; The name we're giving to this host

I need a script that takes data fom a file mydata.dat and create a graph. the content of mydata.dat is Bin Data1 Data2 Data3
Then it asks from the user to select which colums with use for x and which for y. the x and y titles must be generated automaticly by the names of each column from the first line of mydata.dat the limits must also be auto generated by the width of the column (for example for data2 is 12-45). in the end for graph title must shown the current time and date in this format:
So it asks for the user the columns and in the end it shows the graph with the above settings.
I downloaded template for cacti to make graphs from eth interface.is imported and showed in graph templates, but when I choose to creat new graph, it is not there.
