General :: List Of Products / Tools Built Using Libvirt?
Feb 2, 2011
I just wanted to know opensource & proprietary products/tools built using libvirt (like oVirt, AbiCloud, archipel). I am a linux newbie and in a new job wherein, this is my first task to work on libvirt and create a report on existing products n benefits. it will be nice if someone guides me on libvirt advantages. If this is not the right place to ask. do suggest me an alternative website to find the information.
Has anyone had any success with accessing stored files on any Olympus Cameras or Digital Recorders, which seem to be accessible only through "Microsoft Widows"? I thought I might have been able to access stored files by installing and running the Olympus access program in Wine but there is no communication through the USB connection. What am I missing or is it not possible?
I have an iPhone 3G and an ipod Touch. i also have a friends iPhone 3G. This issue is multiple devices so I know it's not an issue with the devices. used to, i plug my iDevice in and Ubuntu automatically mounts it. Now, nothing at all happens. So, here's what I have done so far. Ubuntu can see them, but nothing happens and I don't know what to do with that.
Ubuntu 10.04 Code: Linux Ubuntu 2.6.32-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17 20:26:08 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux When I plug my iPhone it and run dmesg | tail i get Code: [ 2348.832075] usb 1-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6 [ 2348.970524] usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 4 choices Dunno what configuration #1 is, but I guess it's no right. Further, if I run lsusb | grep Apple it correctly identifies my device: Code: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05ac:1292 Apple, Inc. iPhone 3G If i run ideviceinfo, i get a TON if info including my iDevices model, UUID, serial #, etc etc....several screens of info.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled libimobiledevices and even tried iFuse. It used to work, and I did nothing that owuld have changed it's behavior. My only thought is something that was included in an update at some point caused this, but Ihave no way to track that down.
Recently when emailing my resume in openoffice .doc format some recipients are complaining that it is unreadable. This is bad for obvious reasons. I have no idea what is going on in the ms windows/office world. I run linux exclusively.
If I can't use openoffice formatted resumes, does anyone have suggestions for sending a resume that most recipients can read?
i'm a web designer and I use adobe creative suite products for my work. I would like to know if Fidora is capable of running these applications with no problem at all as I am planning on installing a new operating system which is light and very secure. Please help me out on this one as I am really interested with Fidora's features.
This package contains tools to manage Debian based XEN virtual servers.
Using the scripts you can easily create fully configured Xen guest domains (domU) which can be listed, updated, or copied easily.
Homepage: [url] in the above output I am getting a line Conffiles and then you can see a series of /etc what are that and is it an error or some conflict?
I'm running a Windows 7 guest using Virtual Machine Manager to launch my "console" to the VM. I believe it uses VNC to connect to the console. I'd like to have clipboard synchronization so I can copy from the host and paste to the guest.
I am currently using Centos 6. I want to use the latest version of libvirt (libvirt 0.9.4). The machine already has libvirt 0.8.1 installed . I did yum remove libvirt to remove the existing libvirt and I compiled 0.9.4 from source using :
./configure --prefix=/ make make install ldconfig /etc/init.d/libvirtd start
After the installation is complete, I wanted to use the virsh interface. Once I enter virsh , I get :
virsh /lib/libvirt.so.0: version 'LIBVIRT_PRIVATE 0.8.1' not found (required by virsh)
and probably to perform other tasks requiring root privileges (?).I don't know very much about polkit, so I don't know if I'm not missing (or messing up) something. This is the error I get under 11.4:This is the expected behavior (11.3)No matter if I run Gnome, Kde or another de. The process highlighted in red on picture 2 is the one started when a user click on connecting. It fails to start on 11.4 - probably due to my own mistake (?) but I don't know. I could start virt-manager with gnomesu, kdesu or xdg-su -c, that would just start the program as root, but it shouldn't be necessary
What are the solutions to consistently backup a set of VMs stored in disk images (qcow2 or raw) on a filesystem on a lvm volume (with possible snapshots).
- Online : Ideally, I would like to send a sync to all VMs before pause and snapshot, but it seems that it's not possible with KVM (it was with XEN). The save command seemed to be an option, but it crashes some VMs. So, what do you recommend to backup these VMs online ?
- Offline : Is there a command to shutdown all vms, and start them back after snapshot/backup ?
I get this error message when I open up virt-manager (logged in as a typical user):
Code: Unable to open a connection to the libvirt management daemon. Libvirt URI is: qemu:///system Verify that: The 'libvirtd' daemon has been started Manually trying to start the daemon results in: Code: error : qemudWritePidFile:508 : Failed to open pid file '/var/run/libvirtd.pid' : File exists virt-manager works just fine when I log in as root.
I am new to virtual machines in general, and currently playing with the XEN-based VM in CentOS 5.5. Question: if neither virt-manager nor virsh (using "virsh edit <guest name>" and changing the name in the XML file) are designed to actually change a guest's name...then what is the recommended procedure for doing this?
I considered puppy Linux, but it's not my taste. I don't like the Looks of the GUI. That's very important to me. If you need the computer make and model, here it is. It is a Gateway 2000 4DX2-66.
My workstation has a built-in speaker that, surprisingly, plays audio very well. I also have external speakers hooked up to the audio out jack which are easier to hear. Unfortunately, when I try to play some audio material, sound comes out of both the external speakers and the built-in speaker on the workstation.
I'd like to disable the speaker inside the machine, and just plug in head-phones to the external speaker so I can listen to training material at work without bothering my office mate. I'm not sure how to do this in Linux (Suse Enterprise Desktop 11). Fiddling around with the Gnome audio tools doesn't list two different audio devices on the machine.
From what I can tell, sound is played through the ALSA system. I looked in my home directory and there is no .asoundrc controlling configuration.
I should also add that I check in the BIOS for a way to disable the built-in speaker, but I could not find such a setting.
How to get a built in fingerprint scanner to work with linux? the device was installed on my laptop when i initially ordered it, i have a dell studio 1735 (i think its 1735) and i would like to use it with my linux. by the way im running mandriva.
I am trying to build a low cost computer, and over the last few days, I was interested in Linux as my OS to use. All I really need for the computer was the internet, word processors, and 3 games: "Wizard101", "Fusion Fall", and "Free Realms". Would Linux run on a built computer with an AMD processor and an on-board GPU? And would Linux run all of my needs/wants for this computer?
I have downloaded the source code of bochs. and I use make install command to install it onto my box. But how could I uninstall it? I run the sudo apt-get remove bochs, but it said I didn't install the bochs...
I am trying to disable the built-in card reader in my MBP (5,3) running Debian testing. I've noticed that powertop lists the card reader as a major contributor of wake up events and would like to disable it as I rarely need to read SD cards.
I am planning on buying a DELL Monitor for my desktop. Now, I would like to have one which has an in-built camera. Also, my operating system is going to be Linux. Will I have any driver related issues for monitor as well as for the in-built camera.
