Running RHEL 5.4 on a HP server. Ran into a issue today where ldap was working fine then was informed it was failing. During the troubleshooting process, I found out that the ldap service failed to start up. See error below:
I've compiled openssh-5.4p1 on RHEL 4.8 with Openssl 0.9.8m + pam It works perfect without pam (pam-0.77-66), both with password and public key auth. Whith pam enabled and LDAP (openldap-2.4.21, from scratch) something strange happens: system users: I can do ssh with both password and public key LDAP users: public key works for remote users, still I cannot do ssh with just password. I'm trying a custom PAM configuration, because the default one (even with authconfig + LDAP ) blocks ssh even with system users.
Just installed openldap server on a VM CentOS called 'ldapsrv', it works fine, ldapsearch returns all ldap information.
Installed openldap client on another VM CentOS called 'ldapclient1', configured it with most basic configuration, no ssl/tls etc. but ldapsearch returns error:
How do I go about to troubleshoot the failure of ldap server start on openSUSE 11.2? I added a custom configuration (through GUI) and now the server does not whant to start with that configuration.
I transfer my dedicated to another i put same version on it php 5.2.9 and ldap module installed but couldnt activate it on new server is there something i missing ?
We use Centos 5.3 which we deploy to dozens of boxes in different buildings throughout our shop. I set up KDE to be the default windows manager for these boxes, although the individual users can choose for themselves. We use LDAP authentication, and typically logging in through the LDAP into KDE goes without a hitch. However, a couple users are having problems logging in to their accounts through KDE, my boss and my boss's boss to be specific. We have NFS shares which serve up each users home directory regardless of where they connect in our system. When my boss, or his boss, try to log in, they put in their credentials, and LDAP accepts them, but KDE never starts. The splash screen which displays that it's "initializing system services" or "loading desktop" doesn't even come up, it just has a picture of the desktop with a cursor, and hangs there. I've tried deleting the .kde directories in their home folders, but that doesn't work. Those two are the only accounts out of our entire system that have problems logging in to KDE, and I have no idea why! I've looked in the .xsession-errors file, here's a copy code...
I know it isn't the xset or "no profile" errors because all the users I've checked get those too, but they can log in just fine. Both xsession files on both users are almost identical to this one, it just seems that KDE will never start.
Currently I have successfully setup a server as remote freenx-server terminal and I may login to this system using local users.
As I want a central ldap based user management, I have setup a working ldaps configuration. I am able to login as a ldap user via ssh.
Now the strange issue I am facing is that the freenx-server won't let me login to my server anymore when I enable the following setting in /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
Code: UsePAM yes Naturally if I disable UsePAM, ldap based logins will fail because they are passed through PAM. uname -a: Code: Linux srv01 2.6.26-2-openvz-amd64 #1 SMP Thu Feb 11 01:40:09 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux my sshd_config:
One I cant figure out is a problem of authentication. I'm using open ldap server and try to authenticate a groupware (simple groupware) against it. As it fails, I tested with a ldap client to understand things better. Using GQ ldap client, I 'm able to browse my ldap tree successfully and to search some args from the base DN i specified. but when entering the exact uid as a search string iI got no answer whereas searching the cn returns the correct entry (and display its related entry including the uid I can't find ..) Here is the only thing I can trace in logs (syslog) when trying to seach firstname.lastname (= uid)
I have read the man of ldif .In my attempt to build my current directory, I have taken a dump of my last successful implementation (which was created on FreeBSD 8.1) and substituted values for the dc=company and dc=com values with the correct ones for the current directory (attempting to implement under CentOS 5.4) and even tho the correct schemas are in place it is choking on entry.
So, I have mail server ( posfix ) and ldap server, they works fine. I can add/delete users from posfix, and they can send / receive mails to/from any address. At same time my ldap server works fine, I have also users in it, my "simple" question would be...if I have user "test1" in ldap, what I have to do to connect--enable that user to send mails ?
# This file should NOT be world readable. # include /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/cosine.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/nis.schema # Allow LDAPv2 client connections. This is NOT the default. allow bind_v2 # Do not enable referrals until AFTER you have a working directory code....
I'm running desktop Ubuntu 9.10 on my Dell laptop. Previously it was Ubuntu 9.04. After some period of time (lets say 3-4 months) my X fails to start automatically after some restart calls. If that takes place my network manager applet doesn't start either (after I do startx).
I get a perfect server boot meaning there's no Xorg started. Command line interface is all I get starting from login and further.
In principle my java installation works perfect now I tried to increase priority with nice. So I put special user rights to nice: chmod u+s /usr/bin/nice
And then tried: nice -n -20 java something but this gives me the error that libjli.so is missing.
i have an old fc4 server running ldap, and decided to upgrade to fc5, to use the new versions of ldap. after the upgrade the ldap wont start.i manage to restore my database, copy the DB_CONFIG.example to the var/lib/ldap and set the corretc path of the pid files in slapd.conf, but now the server just dont start and gives me no error messages...half of the guys here at work are not working cause of this.
After setup Openldap server with TLS/SSL use ldaps, I install phpldapadmin and have an issue LDAP Server is configured and running. make some ldapsearch and it oki. I couldn't use https to browse LDAP server when I use http and I can't connect Could not start TLS. check your LDAP server configuration. This is my config
I recently configured my client to log on using my (open)ldap account. Since then I could not get thunderbird started from my ldap account. But if I su to one of the local accounts, it opens.
I'm using a Lenovo B450 laptop with Fedora 14 x86_64. The laptop has a Atheros AR5001 wireless adapter and is identified at lscpi.
Additionally lspci reports that the kernel driver in use and the kernel module for that device is ath5k.On a fresh install of Fedora 14, the NetworkManager applet seem to behave well at enabling and disabling wireless (remember the "Enable Wireless" checkbox). Though wireless was always at disabled state at every boot time, even if it was enabled at the toggle button on the laptop. Now that, after I have fully updated the system (yum -y update), I'm unable to enable wireless. Clicking on the "Enable Wireless" menu item on the NetworkManager applet has no effect, and I've a confirmed report that the update broke this functionality (I reinstalled F14, and then it was working, full system update broke the function). After the update, the kernel version is 2.6.35.10-72.fc14.x86_64 and the NetworkManager version is 0.8.1-10.git20100831.fc14.x86_64.
I've just started using OpenSuse 11.2 KDE. I have KDE4.4 installed. I had this issue with KDE 3.4 as well. My HP Multimedia DV3065 laptop is encountering an issue with suspend/restore. After restoring, the mouse is frozen. I have already tried a few things.
1. Dropping to init 1 and then back up to init 5 did not provide a temporary fix. So this is probably hardware related in some sense (kernel?) 2. I tried a grub option (cant remember what it is now). i8500-reset something like that. It made no difference. 3. I tried modifying my 99ZGrub file per another posts suggested solution. That actually locked up my laptop and I could not reboot (even after a cold boot). I pulled the battery and let it sit for a bit and it booted again
So I have several issues.. 1. I would like suspend to restore my mouse. 2. I have not figured out how to program my Sleep button to Sleep. My menu bar icon has Log Out / Restart / Turn Off. The ALT+F1 menu tab Leave has those plus Sleep and Hibernate.
i've got really wierd problem with kernel 2.6.31-20. After kernel update nvidia-module crashes "picture" on gnome & kde, it gives random colors / pixels to the screen. U can use it, so it's somehow working. Without nvidia module everything work perfectly. I've tried 5 different drivers but no solution. Also reconfigured X (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg).This problem is also with older kernels. Problem came after i rebooted to 2.6.31-20 kernel.
I am running Lucid Lynx kernel 2.6.32.24. Soon after the latest kernel update I noticed that Virtualbox would not launch when I clicked on the icon. I have searched the Internet for days, tried numerous possible fixes, over hours of effort, but can't get it working at all. Ubuntu Lucid runs great!! There are no errors just a few blinks of the hard drive indicator and nothing. Is there anyone out there that has seen this same issue?
New user, just installed last evening. Ran fine, then did update. rebooted computer, see logo, but login screen is dark black rectangle, can see anything.
Trying to power down computer yields message that gdm-simple-greeter.desktop is not responding.
Tried do CTRL-ALT F2 (found in forum) and issue commands sudo /etc/init.d/dgm stop dpkg-reconfigure gdm - but get error message "/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure must be run as root"
So, I can run command line, but no gdm. Any ideas? And I am a neophite with Linux.
i have configured ldapserver on rhel4 for creating address book
following are configuration files on ldap server /etc/openldap/slapd.conf include /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/cosine.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/nis.schema
i am able to import this ldif file into database.also when i perform the ldapsearch on this server with command"ldapsearch x W D cn=manager, dc=example, dc =com b dc=example, dc=com" i get correct output.
but when i am trying to search from another client machine, i am getting "error ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1)"
also when i configured address book on mozilla on server., it is working fine.but not working on another machine.is any configuration is missing on client machine.both ldap server and client are configured on rhel4es without any firewall or selinux.
