General :: Installing Dependencies For Mysql-workbench On RedHat 5 Desktop?
Jul 14, 2010
I'm trying to install mysql-workbench on RedHat 5 Desktop - this is what I was given, didn't pick it.I found an appropriate RPM that I downloaded from the MySQL site, but it's asking for several dependencies that I don't know how to track down.
Here's the error message I get:
Code:
]# rpm -ivh /home/confluence/Desktop/mysql-workbench-oss-5.1.18a-1fc11.x86_64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libatkmm-1.6.so.1()(64bit) is needed by mysql-workbench-oss-5.1.18-1fc11.x86_64
libcairomm-1.0.so.1()(64bit) is needed by mysql-workbench-oss-5.1.18-1fc11.x86_64
[code]....
The packages that aren't installed, I'm just not sure what aI should be looking for to install them. how EXACTLY would you suggest I fix this? By exactly I mean, the dependency you are missing is part of the following package, type yum install "packagename" to fix this.
I have been trying to install the above on my CentOS 5.5 server but am having missing libs issues. Our friend yum is not helping either. Here're some of the libs missing:
Missing Dependency: liblua-5.1.so()(64bit) is needed by package mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31-2el6.x86_64 (/mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31a-2el6.x86_64) Missing Dependency: libssl.so.10()(64bit) is needed by package mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31-2el6.x86_64 (/mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31a-2el6.x86_64) Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.6 is needed by package mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31-2el6.x86_64 (/mysql-workbench-gpl-5.2.31a-2el6.x86_64)
I just downloaded MySQL-Workbench and I see it in the folder: Code: /usr/bin how do I access it from my desktop without having to tie up my bash shell because the only way I can get to it right now is
Code: cd /usr/bin mysql-workbench
and only when I close the program can I use my bash for anything else.
Trying to use MySQL workbench on my dev server. Every time I try connecting I get: Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.1.101'
I'm using user josh with password testing. I set up the user with:
CREATE USER 'josh'@'192.168.1.100' IDENTIFIED BY 'testing'; and gave permisions:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'josh'@'192.168.1.100'; my /etc/my.cnf looks like this: [mysqld] datadir=/var/lib/mysql socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
I am currently running MySQL on my workstation under RHEL5 and would like an open community version of their Workbench. Is there an RPM binaries available? and/or can someone provide some direction on building from their source?
I'm running OpenSuse 11.3 which comes with MySQL Workbench V 5.12.16-8.2. This version hangs on connections and has several other behavior problems that others have reported. For several reasons, I need 5.2+ . As a relatively new regular user of OpenSuse, I've learned that it's much better for me if I work within the package environment (read: I've made mistakes and am willing to learn) so I'm reluctant to try to just load the Suse rpm off the MySQL.org site. So:is there a more recent release of Workbench in a repository I've not found yet? if not, what's the safest way to install this as an rpm that will not impact the rest of the package management system?
I'm trying to install workbench on my opensuse 11.2 x64 bit version but I got a problem with python available version on opensuse is 2.6.2 and the required version is 2.3.

I have a python & sqlite2 application called "gourmet recipe manager" running under 10.04. If I try to install MySQL Workbench, Gourmet is uninstalled without so much as a 'by your leave'. When I reinstall Gourmet, MySQL Workbench is similarly abruptly uninstalled. Why?

I am trying to install a program called PQLII (seismology related). I'm running Red Hat Linux Fedora 9. When I installed the OS, I selected "Everything". When I run: rpm -ivh PQL-2009-246.i386.rpm It returns: error: Failed dependencies: libXFixes.so.3 is needed by PQL-2009-246 libXinerama.so.1 is needed by PQL-2009-246 rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by PQL-2009-246
OK, so I google the 3 files listed and download them which I found on [URL]. None of the filenames listed matched precisely those listed, but I downloaded files that were as near a match as possible, i.e: libXfixes-4.0.3-3.fc9.i386.rpm libXinerama-1.0.3-1.fc9.i386.rpm glibc-2.8-3.i386.rpm
Being the logical type, I first try to install libXfixes-4.0.3-3.fc9.i386.rpm since it's listed first, but it generates: error: Failed dependencies: rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by libXfixes-4.0.3-3.fc9 Ok, so then I run: rpm -ivh glibc-2.8-3.i386.rpm which generates: error: Failed dependencies: glibc-common = 2.8-3 is needed by glibc-2.8-3
I persevere, search for and download glibc-common-2.8-3.i386.rpm. rpm -ivh glibc-common-2.8-3.i386.rpm generates: error: Failed dependencies: glibc = 2.8-3 is needed by glibc-common-2.8-3 tzdata >= 2003a is needed by glibc-common-2.8-3 Am I downloading the wrong files?
On Debian, if I want to compile some package X myself, but I don't want to spend time hunting down and installing its dependencies, I can issue the following command:
Code: apt-get build-dep X
And apt (so long as it knows about package X) will install all the dependencies for me.Does the yum package manager on RedHat-based systems have a similar feature?
Is there good Pomodoro desktop timer for Linux without a lot of dependencies.I know about pomodairo, but it's made with Adobe Air, which I don't want on my Linux (even if it exists for Linux).
I installed Red hat linux 5.4 on my VMware workstation and it worked finem but the filesize of linux was not as per my requirements. VMware only gave 3GB to my root (/) which is very small. How can I adjust the filesize of linux while installing it on VMware.

I currently have a HP Server DL580, with a cd rom drive
I don't have an an external dvd drive. I don't have a scusi dvd drive I don't have a pci card for ide or sata connections I have fedora core 14 installed on it (although so far have failed to get the internet to work on the server - but that is a separate issue and probably not worth fixing if I am going to change OS)I have downloaded the dvd, copied the iso to fedora - using a USB pen Mounted the dvd within fedora - but it seems it needs to run on boot I've tried installing the dvd onto a pen drive (ie bootable) - which works on my pc - but the server doesn't seem to like the idea of booting from USB.
I can get Redhat 6 enterprise server on cd. But it there is a simple work around I'd be greatful too.
I am regretably a complete rooky so please make any instructions very simple.
I know you are thinking why is a complete rooky trying to install a redhat server - the only answer to that is - why not - gotta learn sometime.
I got the dvd iso from: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel...00000000000000
I just tried installing mysql on my vps from source code. after untaring the source code. when i tried to configure the ./configure script. iwas not able to find it. it is not there.
I have a problem installing RRDTool on Centos 5.4 and it will always come up error dependencies cairo-devel and pangocairo but I already installed this packages.
Im having a frustrating issue with my two machine cluster I setup using Conga. Everything was working great except now when lucci starts mysql the port (3306) is never opened to outside machines. I can do a "ps -ef | grep mysql" and see it running as well as login to mysql on the node it is running on - but an nmap of the machine does not show the 3306 port and I cannot login to mysql remotely and yes I turned off all iptables(iptables,ip6tables) and SElinux is disabled. What am I missing here? If I start mysql on my own (and it is using the same my.cnf as lucci is) it does show the port open and works perfect,t for some reason when lucci starts it, no dice

After reading quite a lot about this distro, I have come to know that Slackware doesn't provide tools for managing dependencies. So how do I take care of dependencies?
