If we install patach in RHEL5 then we use "yum update" command but it will install all the available patches in the list, but if i want to install any specific patch then how to install this? Is it via "yum update ??"

I've downloaded the patch from "Attachments". I try to apply the patch, but I receive this error:
usr/src # patch -p0 < aclPatch.txt can't find file to patch at input line 4 Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just want to upgrade my Slackware 13.1 kernel (2.6.33.4) to the latest stable kernel from kernel.org (2.6.38.2). I have never done anything like this and I am a Linux newbie, so I would appreciate a "Kernel Patching for Dummies" version if possible. I did do a search on this forum and most of what I read was over my head. I found an FAQ on kernelnewbies.org on "How To Apply A Patch" but when I attempted what they suggested, it said it couldn't find the file to patch at line 5 and asked me which file to patch. So I CTRL-Z'd out of there and came here. Here's what I tried:

Initially, I tried installing it by mounting the DVD but it didn't work for me after which I did a lot of google search I tried all the various procedures of the installation of yum server/RPM packages. But however I am finding it impossible to go ahead and I am geting an ***error 404: not found*** way of installation. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 50 identical workstations that are being dropped shipped from the vendor directly to the remote locations. I need to install a identical configuration, including installed packages, scripts and customize configuration onto each of this workstations. I cannot set up a kickstart server to install from remotely because of my organizations security policies. Not to mention that it would be painfully slow. I thought about DD-ing my "Master" build and sending it to the remote sites, but some of the admins are not very Linux savvy. I would really like to build a bootable DVD that would install the cloned Master build from my server to theirs. I was looking for something that would look like Anaconda to the person installing the image. If I could get them through this base install I think it would be easy to document how to change the workstation unique parameters or value. How to accomplished this? BTW, this will be a RHEL 5.3 server install.
