Apr 8, 2011My project and compare the handover between WiMAX and LTE.I already properly installed ns-2.31 and the WiMAX module, and ns-2.33 and module lte.My problem is to have a script because I tested wimax handover l2handover but I do not know how to interpret the results file out.res.So I need a script handover Lte.even if that script works on ns-3 is good because I already installed ns-3.10.

Feb 20, 2011I'm a Linux newbie. Used to use Ubuntu, but I switched to Slackware because I want to learn how Linux works better.
On my Samsung qx410 laptop, I can't connect to the internet. I went to the System Settings -> Network Settings and all the tabs there, but it wouldn't detect any connection, wireless nor wired.
I noticed that the kernel of Slackware 13.1 is out of date, so I tried compiling a newer one, but I couldn't get that to work.
I tried downloading this file: iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1.tgz but even after reading the readme, I had no clue how to go about installing it or even whether it was the right thing to install in the first place.
How can I get my internet working?

Mar 2, 2011Recently I bought a USB modem SEOWON SWU-3120. According to the manufacturer, Linux is supported, but ubuntu doesn't detect it Both "usb-modemswitch-data" and "usb-modeswitch" packages are installed (I use GSM and CDMA modems without any problem).When I try to add a new broadband network I have only two choices: GSM and CDMA networks. WiMAX doesn't appear. Looks like Ubunto 10.10 "doesn't know" about the existence of the WiMAX technology. I sent some e-mails to the manufacturer but they never answered.
I friend of mine informed me to try the following commands:

Aug 7, 2010I am doing Field Engineering work as a contractor for Clearwire 4G WiMax network deployment and was given a Motorola usbw 25100 network card and was told to use this with windows. I do not work as a IT consultant but rather a RF guy and am trying the avoid using windows by all means possible and was wondering if anybody knew how to set these cards up. Technical support does not support linux and will not help out in any way. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I used to use my Blackberry with verizon with Tethering and it worked great. Apr 16, 2011Imagine this scenario at my home: I'm working on my laptop using WLAN receiver as I have a router installed at my home. Suddenly the electricity fails (it's a regular incident here in Bangladesh called Load-shedding) and the power source to modem and router dies.As a result, my internet connection drops. To connect to the internet without power, I use this QUBEE UH-235 WiMAX USB Modem. Now I know QUBEE may not be there in your country. But after a bit of research I figured that this UH-235 modem is commont every country. QUBEE just branded its logo on the device and the software within.This one is not my device, mine is here.
In my windows, the software is installed as soon as I plug in the USB. That software then detects the modem, scans for network, and then connects to the internet. No extra CD is required for this. However, on an Ubuntu machine, I can't get it working. I guess there are ways to get this UH-235 modem working on my Ubuntu machine. This is keeping me from using Ubuntu as you know I'll have to restart and log in to WIndows whenever electricity is off as Ubuntu works with Wi-Fi, not this UH-235 modem when the Wi-Fi is out of power

Dec 14, 2010I'm dual booting windows 7 64 bit and Ubuntu 10.1 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 11z with an embedded WiMAX/WiFi Link 6050 series wireless card made from Intel. I only use it for wifi, not 3g or wimax. I installed the latest driver from intellinuxwireless.org, iwlwifi-6050-ucode-41.28.5.1, but it still doesn't seem to work. I ran these terminal commands from another thread:
cd Desktop/wlwifi-6050-ucode-9.201.4.1
sudo cp iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode /lib/firmware
sudo chmod 644 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi*

After running "sudo rmmod -f iwlagn sudo modprobe iwlagn", I get this read out for my wireless card.

In the ubuntu help section it tells me to flip a manual wifi switch to enable it, but pressing my windows wifi button, F2, doesn't appear to do anything while in ubuntu. The only experience I have working with linux is typing some terminal commands on my android phone to root it.

General :: Getting All RPMs By 'yum Install Pkg1 Pkg2 Pkg3' To Install On Offline System ?
Jun 12, 2011I need to somehow do a yum installation (or equivalent of) on a system that is offline with no access to the internet. (I do have access to another Linux system that has internet access, but the Linux installations on both systems have different packages installed and enabled.)
Let's say the command to enter is 'yum install pkg1 pkg2 pkg3' (the documentation for some applications I need indicate the installation instructions this way, and not as the actual RPMs I need). Is there a way for me to run that on my offline system?
e.g. one way I can think of is to run that command on the online system, somehow if possible take note of what RPMs get installed, then transfer them to the offline system via USB and install all the RPMs via rpm command.
The problem with my above idea is that the two systems have different packages enabled, so even if yum on the online system shows a few dependencies being downloaded, I could run download and install all these RPMs and their dependencies on the offline system only to find several more missing dependencies, and dependencies of those dependencies.

Apr 18, 2011I've got an ASUS eee1005 that I'm trying to load eeebuntu -- I've read good things about it! However, I managed to get it (partially) installed using only unetbootin and the eeebuntu-nbr iso. Luckily I've got other working laptops in the house, or I'd be stuck because now I've got a partially installed distro that isn't allowing me usage of my wireless. Basically, what I'd like to do is be able to go back to the install process and load all the packages I want, which, hopefully, will give me NetworkManager so that I can finally connect. I can boot to the thumbdrive (8gig, btw) but I don't think I've got the right files on it to do the install. Here's what appears on the thumbdrive:

I would think that with these files on the thumbdrive, it could find its way into the install process. Apparently not. I've read most, if not all of the 'install from USB' threads and how-to's, and it's still not working right - Now, having a partially installed distro (with GUI that's not GNOME, or KDE. . ?) Are there any options I can use to pickup where the install left off and start adding packages? Or should I just scrap it and re-install?
General :: Lightweight Ubuntu Install Using Alternate Install CD?
Jan 19, 2011I am trying to do a 'light' install of Ubuntu 10.04 using the alternate install CD. Here is how i am planning to do it:
1. Perform a console only installation(Standard system only on d-i tasksel)
2. Install gnome-core
3. Then install the packages i need using apt.
1. Would such an installation lead have any significant performance(RAM usage) advantage over a full fledged installation?
2. Is there a way i could install gnome-core from the installation CD instead of downloading them from the repository?
3. Would installing just gnome-core mean that synaptic & update-manager wouldn't be available? i am hoping that it wouldn't be the case I checked their dependencies from packages.ubuntu.com, it doesn't look like they need gnome-desktop-environment to be installed first.
4. Would such an install have any more device driver related issues (eg.display drivers) than a regular install?

General :: Can't Install Fedora13 After Win7 Install?
Jul 5, 2010I just installed win 7 and now can't install fedira 13 on the partition that i made for it on the same drive. The problem is that after installation of win 7 i lost the ability to boot form cd. In bios i still have cd set up to boot first and drive second, but win 7 did something that overrides bios set up. I even tried Esc for boot menu, then i select to boot form cd, but it still boots in windows. What can I do to fix this?

i have a folder which is similar to that. but it is missing few headers which i need like dlfcn.h,dirent.h.... and all that. so, my programs instead of compililng from my gcc/include they are getting compiled from /usr/include, which i dont want. so, i want to update it. checked the net to get such portable gcc. but i couldn'fd find. ifound one link [URL] i downloaded files from the this link, because this structure is very similar structure like my "_lin"(portable gcc). but it is noe allowing to download certain files in /lib like libstdc++.so... and few other files. i thought those are compiler specific shared objects.so, i was left with no answer to my question. where to find portable gcc-4.4 ?

Mar 8, 2011I am running red hat in VMWARE virtual machine. I need gcc compiler. i downloaded the gcc-4.5.2.tar.gz2 file. Can't seem to install. Here is what i tried so far
1. downloaded the gz2 file
2. placed it in /home/me
3. in terminal i cd to the folder with file in it
4. gave this command that i read here in LQ
tar xvjf gcc-4.5.2.tar.bz2
5.It extracted the files in folder gcc-4.5.2
6. cd to the extracted folder
7. gave command ./configure got this error
"make:***error: in '/home/me/gcc-4.5.2':
"make:***error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
8. gave command make here is where i am getting this error that "no target specified and no makefile found. Stop"
