General :: Install Gnome Network Manager In Kubuntu?

I am a ubuntu user and recently install kubuntu desktop in to it.In the ubuntu I am using gnome network manager which is very user friendly to connect Internet.But when I log to kubuntu I am getting headache due to that unfriendly network manager.Stillcouldn't connect to Internet in kubuntu.I heard that we can install gnome network manager tokubuntu. I go through several documentation in Internet and tried for that.And they all failed.most of the document describe to install it via online.But I cant connect to Internet through kubuntu.Is there any way to do that.Can I do it off-line or can I do it through Ubuntu(can I use Ubuntu synaptic package manager or terminal to install gnome network manager to Kbuntu ).If can how to do it.I am new to linux.
i have installed kubuntu in ubuntu 10.04 lts, the problem that i have right now is that whenever the laptop hibernates the network manager is disabled!! so i always have to go to the ubuntu desktop enviroment in oder for me to activate the network kubuntu.Is there a way i can just activate the network manager without going to ubuntu desktop enviroment??
When using KUbuntu, I can open up Nautilus and Network Places, and see my other Ubuntu computer. When I am on another network, can other people see me? What's the point of this feature?
Should I be able to see eth0 in the Network Connections control program that ships with Kubuntu?Its not there. See screen-shot.eth0 definitely exists and I can access the Internet no probs but it doesn't show in the above.
I have been trying to lighten the load that Ubuntu uses on my RAM and processor, and decided to try LXDE, as it is the lightest-weight DE that I have tried and liked. I noticed I didn't have any wireless connectivty under LXDE, so I checked the LXDE site for the solution, and it said to download and install LXNM, which supports wireless connections. Unfortunately, installing LXNM (apt-get install lxnm) also uninstalled nework-manager, and network-manager-gnome, on top of lxnm not working properly, and stranding me without any way of reinstalling the OS, and without an internet connection (I can't connect with a wired connection, either). Is there anything I can do, aside from reinstalling?
I tried to install suse 11.4 on the new gnome desktop 3. everything seems to work except the network manager. Is not present in the bar and I can not restore it. tried to reinstall network manager but to no avail.Does anyone know how I could solve this problem
I want to use my laptop to share network for VoIP adapter. I'm using mobile stick as well as wi-fi and Network manager under Gnome 3. Voip adapter asks for address via DHCP to gain the access to the server some where in the other side of the world.
Is it possible to install a different windows manager? Currently I am using an HP Netbook 210. The windows manager I am using is "gnome-shell" that comes as default with Fedora 15. However, I am wondering if I could completely remove this and install a different windows manager, such as Xfce 4.8. I am not talking about completely removing Fedora 15 and then installing Fedora 15 xfce spin. Just the window manager. How easy would it be to remove the gnome-shell windows manager and then install xfce 4.8 windows manager? Any steps to do this?
I am running ubuntu 11.04 in classic mode with macubuntu theme and the avant window navigator. I am very impressed. I have downloaded kubuntu and have tried it from the live cd. The question I have, is can I also install this on my pc and choose at login which version to boot and do I install it from the cd at boot up or can I install it from the archive manager in ubuntu 11.04.
I�m using F14 x64 - I have installed both Gnome and KDE.I can�t create VPN/PPPOE connection in KDE network manager but I don�t have this problems on gnomeIs it possible to use gnome network manager in KDE?
lucid lynx, 10.04i installed wicd and then unistalled itand i used pppoecof to creat a connection and it worked well but now i can't find gnome network manager in the panel it seem that it's gone!
In my top bar (where i also have the, bluetooth, sound time and date and so on icons) i have lost my icon to manage my network. Wired, wireless and VPN. How do i get it back?
I use network-manager-gnome to connect to my wireless networks, but I can only use it with a graphical environment, and it doesn't even work that well since it will drop the connection after a few minutes and I have to reconnect it manually, that means I cannot leave my computer downloading a big file all night since it will only download for a few minutes, does anyone know what package can I use to connect to my wireless without the need of network-manager, even if it's through command line?
I have an Atheros ar5007eg wireless card, and I haven't had problems with this card in GNOME. However, when I made the switch to KDE recently, I can't connect to any wireless networks. A wired connection works fine (that's how I'm writing this), but when I try to connect to any wireless network, it hangs at Acquiring IP Address, then asks me for my WEP key again, I enter it, and the process starts over. I tried using WICD, but I'm not sure if I set it up properly.
I am trying to connect to an OpenVPN connection using the gnome-network manager. I'd like to point out that using the configuration file in /etc/openvpn works perfectly but I have no way of knowing if the connection has dropped. When I set up the connection in the nm it connects for a few seconds then fails. I have ticked the box Connect Automatically in the OpenVPN setup I configured in the gnome network manager but it doesn't connect on startup. It connects perfectly ok if I manually select the VPN but i'd like it work immediately on launch.
I have autologin on Ubuntu but since there is no VPN password to decrypt I don't see why it should be a problem.
I am a user or consumer of Knoppix 5.1 and Knoppix 6.2, I see in 6.2 version a very usefully tool, an icon in task bar thats help my internet connection in auto, even if I use a mobile modem like Huawei E160, I only select a 'Auto Mobile Broadband (GSM) connection' and, voila, internet is active. Into version 5.1 don't exist this option. I need to find packages like network-manager.... and all relatives and install in 5.1 in correct order to success.

i installed kubuntu enviroment in my new linux version of ubuntu 9.10 and it was playing media files then all oversudden it stopped playing the media files but when i play media files in gnome enviroment they play!!i have tried updating it but there is no change.what do i do?
I had trouble connecting to a wireless network with openSUSE, so I tried the YAST network manager to see if that fixed it. Not only did it not fix it, but now I cannot connect to any network, wired or wireless. I tried to open the default network manager and it said "Network management disabled". How do I re-enable it?I also have set YAST settings back to their originals with no luck.
On my login-screen, there is a message saying that the configuration defaults for Gnome Power Manager have not been installed correctly. I can still log in and work normally, but it seems to me that the system is pretty slow (which might or might not be because of this). It's been there for a while when I used version 9.10, but didn't disappear when I updated to 10.04. I searched for other threads with this problem, and found:
1) This one:URL...saying that it could be because the root drive was full, and said that I could run "sudo apt-get clean" to try to solve it. This didn't work, and it doesn't look like I'm low on space, anyway. Plus I can log in normally, so it doesn't look like the same problem.
2) This one: URL....advises me to run "sudo dpkg --configure -a", which seems to have worked for other people, but it didn't help me--when I restart, I still get the same error message.
When trying to open YaST Software Manager, it downloads/refreshes repository information, but then, just when the loading bar indicates that the manager is about to open, a warning window pops up which says: "There was an error in the repository initialization." The program continues to open, but only packages that have already been installed are visible.
How can I connect to a hidden wireless network on Kubuntu? I have 9.10 64bit installed, and have the information for the network (e.g. SSID and key) because I've already connected to it on Windows.
I'm using three different UNIX OS's.I have used gnome on my laptop for most of the time I have had it and I decided it was time for a change in GUI,I am wanting to use KDE but I can't get it to work with my laptop I have tried mandriva 2010.1 spring and that one was slow and it kept dropping my wireless connection.So I got rid of that in tried Kubuntu and now it will not use the wireless.Ubuntu and Ubuntu SE and the live version of super gamer can all connect it's just Kubuntu and mandriva
Our corporate wireless network uses continuously changing passwords with RSA tokens.So every time we need to connect to the wireless we need to enter a new password off the RSA token. For extra fun using the wrong password a couple of times in a row causes the users account to be locked.Network manager automatically stores and reuses the password, with the net result that it is constant getting my account locked.Is there some way to prevent it from storing my password for that network?
I cant use the option "export" from the VPN settings in the Gnome Network Manager, when I tried to export a popup says "Unknown error"This happend also in 11.3 and now in 11.4, so it is a nm-applet problema I think... Is there any other way to export my VPN connections?
I know I sound pretty nooby atm, but I'm thinking of making a switch to Kubuntu. But only if it has a software centre, similar to Ubuntu, I know Linux Mint has it now so I would expect same from Kubuntu (Y). I just cba to run off a live CD, I'm typing an important document atm.
Only problem is when there's no information to read I can't learn anything. So I've looked and looked but I can't find anything on the KDM theme manage that comes with kubuntu 10.10.
SO here's what I want to do:
All I want to do is just change the login and splash screens to something more to my liking when I got to System settings -> System Administration -> Login Screen , which is the KDM that comes on kubuntu (trust me I looked for kdmtheme under KpackageKit I get a chance to pick new themes I go through and find something I like and go to install and it doesn't show. All I get is the original one and that's it.
why it doesn't show up or how I may go about changing these two things
