does any linux admins out there have any mailing lists that they subscribe to? I go to lots of sites for knowledge but i was trying to put together the double whammy and pull together a solid mailing list for linux admins as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using sendmail on a small server and in addition to several users I have a few small email lists implemented in the aliases file. Is there any way to secure these aliases so that they can only be used by users with accounts on the machine already?
I'm getting a lot of external spam sent to the lists and I figure this is the easiest way to deal with it. 100% security isn't even necessary if I can stop most of the spam (i.e. causing sendmail to discard any mail sent to the lists that don't originate with the same domain name as the server would kill 99% of the spam since most of it doesn't have a spoofed email matching our server's domain name). I'm using Debian Lenny.
Im creating a perl script that will be sending out mail to mailing-lists, but im not getting it to work. Its no problem getting the script to send mail to regular mail addresses, but it doesnt seem to handle to send mail to mailing lists. It sends me everything up to echo "*******" "Begin compressing and transferring files" "*******" but it wont output the tar bit.. so it should give me a list of files that have been tarred.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Linux Mint 9 a couple of days ago (from a live usb) and my 'Account type' was set as 'Custom'.
I had to change the 'Account type' to 'Administrator' so I could edit the 'Network Manager' configuration (the 'Apply' button in Network Manager was disabled until I changed to Administrator).
Is it ok to leave it as 'Administrator' or should I change it to 'Desktop user' until I need to change system settings again?

Ok so Ive already got Ubuntu 10.10 on a usb bootstick. Chntpw is installed as well. What I'm wondering is are there any programs to crack as in decrypt the SAM file and show the password but not erase it? Most Linux programs Ive come across don't do this. They just reset the password.

I also have Helix, DEFT, FIRE, FCCU, and Live Forensics Toolkit for Windows. because of pending legislation in our state and current or pending in others, taking classes@community college for private investigator. end goal?: Linux Systems Administrator/security/private investigator specializing in forensics?as I learn I'll probably install a server version on 1 of my drives and ask some of you to use it to work with/hack me/give me help in general.

The general stipulations are as you'd expect; both files are of an arbitrary length, generally file1 will be larger than file2 but this is not guaranteed, the common lines (if any) will always be contiguous and only occur at the end of file1 and the start of file2.

After upgrade from MDV 2009.1 to MDV 2010 a bunch of available kernels that can be selected are listed at boot. I think that these are still installed but I really don't need them listed. I would like to get rid of the list of extras. I've had a look at /boot/grub but I can't figure out what.
