Suddenly my machine not working under run level 5 and it seems to be problem with xserver and it is saying that "in last 90 seconds xserver restarted 6 times and unable to start" and then just giving blank screen.So i changed the run level to 3 and using startx command i am managing to work now.

In centos 5.3 i am unable to start sshd service shows error starting sshd :/etc/init.d/sshd:line102"7182 illegal instruction $sshd$ option
Same error while starting the httpd service.
I am configuring my Apache Server to enable checking CA Revocation List, and my Configuration lists as following :

If I try this command to view content of my CRL file :

I have installed Fedora 14 on Vmware workstation. When I am trying to switch to runlevel S/1,Just blank window is appearing, and I have to power off it forcibly as it doesnt prompt any shell. How shall I proceed.

I have 2 server behind the netgear router on my network . win2k3 and CentOS development server, I have port forarded 80 to win2k3 server which i can access over the internet and is accessable. However I can SSH CentOS machine and portforwarded 8080 and 82 for web access, I can't access via any of the port, browsers says UNABLE TO CONNECT.. there is no firewall in CentOS machine.

The strange thing is that it not seems that is a X window problem, it looks like more like a configuration problem in some part of the kde script to initialize the log in, because if i manually start the X service it works fine, i dont know what is the source. View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a dell server. its a couple of years old and has a perc 4 raid controller in it. When i do an install it shows the drives configured in the raid 5 configuration. i select the disk and do an auto partition. It goes for about 10min then errors with "error formatting drive volgoup00 the error is serious occurred press enter to reboot" or something like that can remember all the words. It doesn't give any info about the error.
i get the same error on centOs 5.5 and Ubuntu server 10.10
There is a firmware update for the raid controller that i could apply but dell's site was not letting me download it yesterday. Other than that I am not sure what to do. I could try an older version of CentOS 5.4 but i figure someone might tell me how to fix this so i can run the newest version.
I have upgraded from Centos version 4.x to 5.5 and my installation of UGS NX 6.0 was installed under Centos 4. NX was working fine in Centos 4, but when I try starting it under Centos 5, I get the following:
ERROR: unable to start NX Check: X windows is running, :0.0 is valid, and X display has been authorized on :0.0.
When ever I am starting my system at run level 5, it stops booting the machine at a particular point. After starting all the services & before taking user account and password, the fan speed of the cpu increases at faster rate and then after sometime the system automatically stops down.
I have also checked with other run levels, it works fine. I have also gone thru run level 3 and then used the command "startx" but still its not working and the system stopped automatically by making the fan speed up to a high. Primary memory 2 GB.
I am using fedora 13. I need to start machine at 9 am and shut-down or hibernate it on 9 pm automatically. Is their is any way.In windows i found this way
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10 but my laptop battery went down so the installation did not ended up correctly.
When trying to reboot now, the system is not able to start correctly. No desktop, no icons... nothing.
Starting in recovery mode is impossible too.
Now I am running with live cd.
I have a directory that has a another directory inside it. The top directory is rather redundant since it only contains the one other one. Is there a way to delete the top level directory and have the contents simply "move up a level"?

I have been given Toshiba Tecra S11 with windows 7 running on it to install Ubuntu 10.04. Toshiba has a bunch of utilities running on the machine set up as dev/sda1, dev/sda, dev/sda3 and dev/sda4. I do not know where to start because of these existing partitions.

Install went well. During boot the statement "Determining IP information...fails" No IP is assigned to the NIC. I have DHCP running on my linksys router. Should not be an issue.
In a default install, will Cent OS 4.7 normally get the NIC setup with connectivity or is there further config work to do on setting up routes and iptables(firewall) ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI actually have a problem with the keyboard config under Firefox.I'm unable to use 3rd level keyr under firefox, in any other apps the thrird level is working.The keayboard layout is set underkde with the setting toot.and 3rd level set as the "super key" (win key).the problem occur since I've upgrade from opensuse 11.2 to 11.3 with zypper dup (the upgrade as succes without any error) so with opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.4 firefox 3.6.6.With a similar setting under gentoo I don't have this problem nor with my own system base on LFS...
From there I suppose the problem come from a conflict between Suse keyboard handeling and firefox. However I don't know where to go from there.

Why am I not able to telnet to a Windows server machine? Is it because the telnet server is not running there? A remote desktop connection works though.
Does a telnet server run by default on a Unix machine?
