when i moved to linux,my printer was detected and was working ok,just to day i needed to "scan " a document (not used scan since moving to linux) and i cant see how to do it. ive loaded the setup cd ,and tried to reinstall, but i get the message, not reconised or simelar.
using "pclinuxos"my all in one epson sx100 psc is installed and working ,as is the scanner, they are both configured in the control center,?? how do i view the ,"change ink, clean print head options please" .you may have read an earlier post from me (now clicked as solved) when i was using "mint 9", i never did get it to work,
I have an Epson SX100 multifunction printer which is a year old but rarely been used. The on/off light keeps flashing but I can't get anything else to function. The cartridges move into place but if I press any of the buttons nothing else moves - can't print, scan or photocopy - no other lights showing. Have to pull out the cord to turn it off.
From previous Epson printers I've had I know there are ways to override cartridge empty lights etc and wonder whether someone knows how to re-set this printer. Have had an online chat with Epson but as soon as they know it is just out of guarantee they point you in the direction of the repair shop and it is just not worth paying for a repair as it would cost more than the printer.
It seems that they are not shown under xev ...Someone knows if old scanner, can be detected in terms of button pressing ?[URL]button pressing does not show up into deamon.log
I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm having real problems getting my Epson DX7450 to scan. It prints okay. I've googled and searched lots of forums and I'm not really having a great deal of success. I keep getting sent to the Avansys page and then I just get lost I will be eternally grateful.
my all-in-one Epson scanner does not work. I tried to install the iscan drivers (free and/or proprietary) via repository and/or via Avasys website, but nothing happens: the scanner is not recognized. I use Gnome and openSUSE 11.2
I just got an Epson Perfection V330 Photo scanner. After connecting it to Ubuntu 10.04, it's not recognized by XSane and Simple Scan. The relevant lsusb output:Bus 001 Device 008: ID 04b8:0142 Seiko Epson Corp.Google does not yet know "04b8:0142",.
i use linux OS with ubuntu and i have installed my printer (epson stylus photo tx650) but when i print it prints black pages on and on and doesn't stop, though if i print using my windows xp laptop and using the same USB cable, it prints, hence this shows me that some settings on printer configuration are not well set and i fail to know which are these settings. its only printing i cant do but i can scan and even photocopy.
I just switched to openSUSE. I was using Debian based linux before.
I'm having getting my scanner to work, It is an epson cx4800.
I know that it works with sane because I was using it before, on my other systems it was just a matter of changing epson.conf :
Code:
I am using xsane, and it does not recognize the scanner still, though in the past doing this worked on other distributions of Linux....is there something else I can do? I tried running xsane as root and it still didn't recognize it.
I have a epson sx100 and i can't check my ink levels with esputil. This is what i get when i type the command.
pianoterra@pianoterra-desktop:~$ sudo escputil -r /dev/usblp0 -s Escputil version 5.2.0-rc1, Copyright (C) 2000-2006 Robert Krawitz Escputil comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type 'escputil -l'
[Code].....
I also have another problem which is i can't change the permissions of /dev/usblp0 because i stupidly changed them in to read write execute to all using chmod 777 without thinking that the device file isn't executable. Why can't i change the permissions back as they were?
I installed squeeze on my eeepc 1015ped and downloaded the correct firmware-brcm80211 drivers but every time I scan for my network using iwconfig wlan0 scan or wicd, my computer completely freezes. I previously had a solid install running xmonad, and wicd was working like a charm (using the same broadcom driver) but i tinkered too much with it and decided to do a fresh install. I haven't quite run into a problem like this before.
I am running ubuntu 10.04. I have an Epson Wprkforce 310 4 in 1. Connection is USB. I can print. I have searched for proper drivers for scanner and fax. I have found nothing for fax. I have found and installed at one time or another the following scanner drivers:
The 1st 3 installed but nothing happened. When I installed the 4th, I got a message telling me about the scan app I have installed(default with ubuntu install). Hope welled up inside. When I opened the scan app, it said it could not find a scanner. WF 310 was on hoping for a driver.
I am working Max OS 10.5. I got the Netgear WGPRS606 wireless router, and am unable to install my Epson CX4300. I'm not sure how to use HPIJS, but I downloaded it, Ghostscript and footmatic and installed it. My printer is listed on their list of printers supported. How do I use HPIJS? And how do I find my printer's IP, or assign one?
Since 2009 we are using Linux Redhat and all printers are working well. But when I have done Redhat's UPDATE I found all matrix printers (Epson LQ-590) not printing. Those printers are connected to the network by a printer server. When I do "lpr -Pprintername /etc/hosts" the printer prints the file but it not formats characters.
To print from my application, I create a file driver which looks like "lpr -PP112" in /usr/spool/uv/t112.dvr The first version was looked like #!/bin/bash # # $6: Imprimante (nom Universe) # export LOGFILE=/tmp/uv-smbprint-$6 date > $LOGFILE echo $6 >> $LOGFILE cat - > /tmp/prn.$6.$$ cat /tmp/prn.$6.$$ |lpr -P $6 -o raw -h >> $LOGFILE 2>&1 rm -f /tmp/prn.$6.$$ exit 0
Now this old version works with the HP LaserJet printers. But on the matrix Epson printer it can't work I put lpr - Pprintername or lp -onobanner -Dprintername to print something. The problem steel in formatting text when I print on all matrix Epson printers.
I have a workflow whereby I scan paper documents into searchable PDFs using a Fujitsu ScanSnap S500 document scanner. I am not a great fan of the bundled software, but it's dead simple to use: place a stack of paper at the top, push the green button and a searchable PDF comes out. Now, I'd like to do something similar on Linux (Ubuntu 10.10). The scanner is supported out of the box.I've looked at gscan2pdf and XSane:
XSane looks powerful, but not really suitable as a workflow solution;gscan2pdf is a bit closer to the "push the button, get the PDF" ideal, but still not 100% there.
I have just started using puppy linux 5.2 ( lucid) which has transformed my old PC . The only real problem encountered is that I cant get my HP 1050C to print or scan . Running the cups wizard gives me the option of the printer and I found a driver in the list. The table below shows the printer settings being used . Sending jobs or maintenance to the printer has no effect although the cups system says they are complete . Xsane does not see the scanner . The printer functions fine under windows . I am obviously missing something very basic
PDF/A is one of the best formats to archive my documents. What Linux software would allow me to scan documents to PDF/A? A PNG→PDF/A or TIFF→PDF/A tool would be fine too.
Notwithstanding that I might not want to do this because of the large file size, how would I scan a multi-page document into one image file (probably a jpeg)? The only way I know how is to, after making seperate jpegs of every page, manually pasting the images below each other in a photo editor, which of course is a lot of trouble.
I have a Lenny Raid-5 setup, and I use rsnapshot to occasionally backup the raid to an old external hard drive that I otherwise leave unplugged. That external went bad, so I figured I should setup its replacement with encryption and keep it off site when not in use.
While googling and coming across LUKS, I can across this post this post that mentioned the drive should be be filled with random data before setting it up for encryption, and had the following as a potential sufficiently-good option over the time-intensive dd /dev/random route: badblocks -c 10240 -s -w -t random -v /dev/sdx
I was unfamiliar with badblocks, and came across this post after a google session which noted the time duration of scan is an important factor as well as the result.
I sshed into the NAS, and was about to run badblocks first in read mode, then in write mode, but then I considered the time consideration. I was going to use something similar to the following: nohup badblocksstuff &
My Question: Is there a way I can append to the resulting nohup.out a time to complete value?
My root partition is formatted as ext3 and I would like to perform a bad blocks scan on it. Normally e2fsck -c -c does this, but you can not run it on a mounted partition. I know it is possible to force a fsck to run at boot by creating the file /forcefsck but is it possible to specify that it should also check for bad blocks? If not, what is the recommended way to check for bad blocks on the root partition? I would like to avoid having to create a rescue disk and boot off of it.
Request your help in writing a shell script for the following requirement:
1) scan each incoming mail with conditions on sender name and subject 2) scan the mail body for set of characters and email them.
general usage is as follows: I get a mail as follows from: [URL]... subject : Urgent, reply body : name : xyz contact : 12345 the script should mail the following as subject line: n:xyz c:12345 I know procmail is a good option for this, but I'm compelled to use shell script
I have a file which contains the data i retrieved through prstat and an array that contains all the unique process ID's of that particular file. i want to compare each and every line in the file with each and every element of the array so that i can create multiple files for the multiple value in the array.
Request help with scanjet 3500c operation. xSane .996 in Ubuntu sees scanjet and scans. As soon as scan completes, the xSane windows(2) disappears and there are no copies in the intended save folder in Documents. Upon original attempt, the xsane windows had an additional third "Preview" window which has not returned since that first scan attempt?
One is not a computer guru by any imagination!
Info; the scanjet worked very well on the other "doze OS" and seems now, does not in the Ubuntu OS. In Doze, there was also a program for a HP PhotoSmart 3200 running and when I added the scanjet it might have been happy with that driver. Currently I do not have access to the driver disc for the 3200 with me. Too, it now takes ~45+ seconds for the scanjet to begin as compared to 2 - 3 seconds on doze.
Some internet self help searching seems to suggest the xSane 1.0.18 is the driver choice to use with the HP 3500c scanjet. When attempting to download, an archive "Failed" notice appears. I am a bit lost from here.
I recently installed Fedora 14. Unfortunately, the scanner on my Epson CX3200 is not detected by the system. When i open 'Simple Scan', it shows i have a Epson CC-570L, and i don't know what to do to change it, so that it 'sees' my scanner. how i can change the scanner in 'Simple Scanner' to my CX3200?
I've recently installed Karmic Koala (64 bit version) on my pc via a live cd.I still can't get my epson scanner to work so my plan was to get VirtualBox and then run xp inside Karmic. My problem is that my pc doesn't have an internet connection.
Looking over the sane project for the epson GT-S50 scanner I see it lists requires DFSG non-free esci-interpreter-gt-s80 Does anybody know if one is writing their own scripts with bash and scanimage if that requirement of DFSG is still required under ubuntu (Karmic or lucid)????
I have been using the Lucid since about Xmas time as my main Distro. Up until Sunday when I did a fresh Install of Lucid 10.4 final release my epson printer was working, now it isn't even listed in the printer list, but it is still found with lsusb.
