I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Amarok 2.3.1 and I am having some problems with the Automatic Playlist Generator. I have not found my solution on these forums and I have searched google, and I am fairly new to using Amarok 2.
Every time I use the Automatic Playlist Generator, only 30 tracks are introduced into the playlist. Why is this? I don't want a limit to the amount of tracks which are selected.
to play a song with amarok or banshee not heard all the words, hear the music but the lyrics only in parts.
View 7 Replies View Related3 o 4 days ago I installed KDE 4.6 from KDE 46 repository and I upgrade my OS and some applications like Amarok. I had some problems so I erased .kde folder and reboot my computer. KDE 4.6 works fine and fast (in my opinion, faster than KDE 4.5) but I have problems with Amarok 2.4. When I try to scan my music collection Amarok don't find any song. I have a NTFS partition in my computer and I have all my music there. I mount the partition since fstab and in 6 months I didn't have any problem. I can use Clementine for exmple and scan all my songs perfectly, but not Amarok.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:
1. Stop playback on the laptop
2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player
3. Find the same song
4. Try to find the same point in the song
5. Stop playback on the laptop
6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)
Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs far as i know VLC is the best media player for linux bc it suppurts all file types. is there a shell command in Linux (for VLC media player) to open a *.mp3 file?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am making a simple Pandora.com alternative for myself and a few friends where the user can upload his/her songs and listen to them anywhere. My intent is to make a lightweight, simple player in HTML5 so all the user needs is a current Firefox or Chrome to use it. I have set it up so that all uploaded songs get converted to .ogg and added to a database but I also want some metadata (not sure if that is the correct term) for the songs to be stored in the database so the player can tell the user what song he/she is listening too. I know there are several GUI tools for managing the title/artist/album info for songs but I'm having trouble finding any good ones I can use from the command line. If the song has the information already in the file, I think I can use mplayer to retrieve the information but it would be really great if there was one that would look up the song information online.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 12 i386 on my system, and I am using the Gnome Desktop. I used a terminal and installed Amarok via yum install amarok and got it to install; however when I try to load the darn thing it doesn't load at all, what could be the problem and how can I fix this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was using amarok fine with 10.04, upgraded to 10.10 alpha, still worked fine. Decided alpha had a few bugs I didn't like so I completely removed it, installed 10.04 from scratch again (I have two partitions, / and /home, only formatted /). Now I can't get amarok to build for me at all. It plays mp3's no problem but when I try to build my collection it pretends to (takes a few minutes but goes relatively fast compared to what it should take to build) then shows 0 songs. I've already tried deleting amarok inside of /home/user/.kde/share/apps/amarok
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed kubuntu 9.10 in my desktop, the amarok and dragon players are not playing the mp3 songs and videos.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wanted to "reset" the collection on my iPod and ended up accidentally deleting, through Amarok, all the playlists, including the default ones like "Most Played" and "Highest Rated". Since these are dynamic playlists with a special meaning for iPod, I don't think creating new, normal playlists with the same name will bring their special behavior back.
How do I restore them with the same dynamic functionality? Is there a way to do that on Amarok? Rhythmbox? GTKPod? Command line?
P.S.: not entirely sure what the policy about iPod questions are, but this one in particular seems to me to be very computer-related because, although it's about interfacing with a device, everything has to be done on my computer, using standard PC libraries/programs, etc.
I use amarok 2 and I have a lot of files that are titled "Track #.mp3", in Amarok I have changed them to see as the real songs but the actual files are still the same. Is there a way to change the actual file names using amarok to match the tags I have inside of amarok? The reason why I'd want to do this:
1. If my home folder becomes corrupt I don't have to redo 100's of songs (I have a backup but none the less
2. If I ever decide to use another program or if I'm in W7 using Windows Media Player classic it'd be nice to have it recognize the correct files without having to double up on the tag editing
If this isn't possible I'm going to wishlist it because I think it's functional and having a bunch of Track# files is a pain but impossible to get around when you have a lot of mix cd's.
I've spoken to people on the KDE forum about this but am a bit stumped. They advised me to change the phonon backend of Amarok from xine to phonon-backend-gstreamer or phonon-backend-vlc. The latter doesn't seem to be in the repositaries though someone on the KDE forum said otherwise. When I change to gstreamer, Amarok says it cannot play mp3 files. Apparently Kubuntu 10.04's Amarok is a bit old too but I can't see how to update it - does this involve adding a ppa or something?
I've added two other database-type players, Exaile and Rhythmbox, both designed of course for other desktop environments, but they both give gripes about codecs too or won't play. The xine backend causes jumps in playback mentioned in another post.
I have installed the Kubuntu restricted extras, and I even added w32codecs and nonfreecodecs at one point, now removed (--purged). I don't fancy moving to 10.10 as I like the 3 years of not messing about upgrading/reinstalling. I would ideally update just Amarok and KDE itself.
I have been using Linux close to 2 years now. One thing that always bewildered me is audio support in Linux. These days I login to windows only for listening to music. After reading various blogs, i decided to give it a try in Linux with Amarok. There again I am facing a problem.
while i try to scan for music files it is not finding any files.
what I did is as follows:
Quote:
Setting --> configure Amarok --> collection --> scan
I have tried with mp3 .wma format files. While I try to add these files individually, Amarok is able to play those.
I am using Amarok 2.3.2 with KDE 4.4.5. Fedora - 12 is my flavor.
Given below is the log obtained with amarok -debug option
Quote:

I have installed xfonts-wqy in my newly installed Debian Jessie stable by using command
[04/29/2015,10:46:33@~]$ aptitude search xfonts-wqy
i xfonts-wqy - WenQuanYi Bitmap Song CJK font for X
But when I list the font, there is nothing about WenQuanYi Bitmap Song, as you can see here:
[04/29/2015,10:49:53@~]$ fc-list |grep WenQuanYi
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/wqy/wqy-microhei.ttc: WenQuanYi Micro Hei,文泉驛微米黑,文泉驿微米黑:style=Regular

So, my question is: Where is the font WenQuanYi Bitmap Song? And how can I use this font?
I also tried to reinstall xfonts-wqy several times, but the problem is still there. Here is some information about my Debian Jessie:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a problem with my Songbird (1.4.3) on a Fedora 12 64 bit. When I play music and the first song is over, the song changes but the little loudspeaker symbol in the list, that displays the currently playing song, doesn't move to this song. It just stays on the first played one and also the title of the first one is displayed above the progress bar. But that's not all, when the song should change again (from second to third song), it won't do so. The second played song starts again and will be repeated again and again and Meanwhile the mentioned symbol just stays in front of the first song. Only if I press the "next" button two times the third song will be played. So I got to press "next" two times after every two songs. That makes listening to music nearly impossible. The problem occurred after installing a lot of updates (I had no fast internet connection for months so I now had to install all at once), so it is difficult to say which package causes the issue. Before that Songbird worked all fine for months. I would be glad to provide further information, but neither running songbird in terminal, nor the songbird error console shows up any error related to this behaviour. I also tried to delete the .songbird2 folder in my userhome, but it made no difference at all. Normally i would get the latest verion of the software at first, but since songbird dropped linux support, there is no newer linux version than the one installed on my system.

View 9 Replies View Relatedhere is the problem: for some reason, after switching song, sometimes even after starting song, my volume level gets to highest level, and when I try to lower it with my DELL Inspiron 9400 laptop's multimedia keys, it drops to minimal level (no sound). Then I have to adjust it in YAST Sound configuration or in Kmix panel - adjust "Master" chanell. But after another song switch - everythng starts all over.
As mentioned, to adjust volume I use multimedia keys. On DELL Inspiron 9400 laptop.
Opensuse version: 11.3
Used mixer: Kmix.
Used master channel (for multimedia keys): PCM
Volume level does't drop or increase, if I don't change song manually.
i used to edit the mp3 song details such as artist, title, song number details and the album art in windows, i edited the same in UBUNTU using the "easy tag" but the album art is not visible when i transfer the song to my NOKIA phone as well as the artist details are not available when i am playing the songs in windows machine.
program to edit the sing details in UBUNTU so the edited details are visible in phone as well as windows machine.
I'm cleaning up my music library and deleting duplicates and during that process I accidentally deleted the wrong song. Is there some way to undo this process? Banshee gave me no warning, and the trash is empty. I'm assuming there's a command I can use to recover the file, but as I'm a complete noob, I need some assistance.

Has anyone else found anything?
I am looking for a utility that will allow me to add required metadata to my songs after importing from CD or whatever. I do not want something that will find the information online. I want to have total control over that including the ability to do global changes on songs as well as one by one changes.
Right now I am trying out Kid3-qt and Ex Falso but don't quite know if I am using them properly.
I also tried Sound Juicer but I am not sure if it is really tagging properly when importing audio CD's.
Any other recommendations, and/or videos on how to use these utilities?
