I am working on RHEL4 AS. I have created a user and tried to access, but the system is showing the error messsage as "system administrator has disabled access to the system temporarily". I could login through root. Before this I have changed the root/.gnome2/panel2.d folder permissions for group and others as read only to prevent other users to delete or add icons on the panel bar.

one of my drive(ntfs) is used to share files in windows 7 and ubuntu. But after enabling 'bit locker' feature in that drive from W7....the drive became encrypted and cannot be accessed from ubuntu.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am working on ubuntu 10.10 in a VM. I went ahead and did updated the system when prompted. That has disabled my wired network connection. I am not sure what is the reason. If it is a device driver or any network service. I guess device driver is not an issue as I can detect my network card from ubuntu.
Does any one know the solution?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter installing the 32 bit desktop version 10.04 on vmware 6 and then rebooting ( a number of times) I get the message "the guest operating system has disabled the processor". This doesnt seem to happen when I install the 64bit version though. I have 9.1 running in 32bit versions in vmware and several other operating systems.I am not sure if any of those things would cause this issue but I have read in posts about people having issues with RAID and speed stepping. Hopefully that info can help spmepne point me in the right direction. Thank you.

- a mobile broadband network as both "system connection" and "automatic connection".
I need to have a laptop that will try to connect as sson as I plug the ethernet cable in or as soon as it senses a certain SSID or as soon as there's a mobile broadband device plugged into a USB port. Non-system connections are working but I am not willing the actual user (non-admin) to read the WPA2 key or the SIM PIN. But the check box for the system connection is disabled. And running "sudo kcmshell4 --icon networkmanager kcm_networkmanagement kcm_networkmanagement_tray" doesn't result in a system connection.

There is actually another problem with the computer which is "The Nautilus application has quit unexpectedly" everytime I open File Browser application or right-click>Properties a file/directory. This happen only after installing cairo and pango and I don't know how to revert to old version. Since there are a lot of log files so I'm very confused. Can someone give me a direction on how to resolve this?

I have mount it to my window ntfs system and setup
Now I am able to access window ntfs system.
HOWEVER, I could not access to USB NTFS system. May I know why?

The USB drive is FreeAgent (500G). I have partitioned it to 3 parts. 1 part is ntfs. The other two is ext3. I can access ext3 smoothly.

I just downloaded a computer game which I have never done before even when I had windows and my Ubuntu ( Linux ) used "Transmission" to download it. It downloaded to my desktop and now I have a folder with two files in it on my desktop that when I open say "Write to Disk" and gives me the different options. But I read in the comments on the game I downloaded that I can access ISO and other CD-image files using a program called Daemon Tools which is a windows program used as a virtual CD-Rom Drive. How can I do something like this with Linux?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI would like an old desktop box to use my laptop as a router to access the internet. Here is my setup:
I have one ethernet port in the side of my laptop which I want to use to get internet access to my desktop computer. The laptop is connected to the LAN via a wireless link. Both systems run Linux. The desktop autoconfigures itself using DHCP. The laptop is a Kubuntu system. I do not have any crossover cables, though wireshark on the laptop sees the DHCP requests from the desktop just fine, so I doubt that I need one.
What do I have to do to make this work?
As per my knowledge, one can use systemcall to call the driver functions for example using open, close... Now is there any way to call driver functions directly from application without using system call?
