I am trying to run apache-tomcat5.5.29 on fedora9 but sometimes its working and sometimes not.Error messages are: 1.could not connect to the server running at 8080(message is at browser) 2.port is not free(again at browser)then I tried to change the port no. of tomcat in server.xml but still it is not working. But sometimes it again starts running without any modification.
I've trying to run openmoko thru qemu, i went thru the tutorial given at openmoko home page and did install and other things as given there and when i start the qemu, the emulator brings up a GUI which shows "openmoko" logo and then asks to select 1 out of 4 option[the options are like boot-up, enable some usb devices ,one more i dont remember the name, boot off] when i select boot-up i shows a new console and that shows some 4/5 lines os something[it just vanishes in less than a sec and show something like "checksum " blah blah blah] and then it again goes back to the same startup page and displays those 4 boot options. i tried the other options too but it never worked, not able to come up with any coclusion why this occurs. Has anyone faced this kind of problem ? Please help me out fix this problem as google dint help much. BTW i'm running Fedora9 2.6.26 kernel and qemu-0.9.1-6.fc9.

I've been tasked with setting up a RHEL FTP server to mirror one we currently have. From what I've read, I need to install and configure VSFTPD and then configure IPTables. From what I've been able to come up with, I need to follow the steps in this article to install and setup VSFTPD. Is this a good complete article to follow you think? Also, how do I copy the iptables config from that server to my new one? I think that iptables on our current server only allows certain IPs or blocks certain IPs (not sure which), so I need to have it do that on my new server as well
i want to configure an Open LDAP server in Ubuntu....and also want it to connect to its clients, i have two machines for testing, one for client & one for server, i followed the tutorials on ubuntu documentation, but did not succeed in making either the client or the server,

I'm trying to configure Postfix with a mail server that I programmed in C. The main.cf is set in this way :
Code: relayhost = [myMailServer.localhost] smtp_sasl_auth_enable = no smtp_use_tls = no disable_dns_lookups=yes smtp_never_send_ehlo = yes code....
I don't know why it doesn't receive response after HELO. In fact if I debug my mail server with gdb, I can see it sends a 250 response code. Moreover, I've tested my server both with traditional mail clients, as Thunderbird, and through telnet session and it works very well.
especially to ubuntu server 8.04 because it doesnt use a GUI. Now my question is on how to insert IP address in configuring DNS server using bind9. Actually i'm using this guideBut i m not sure on how to insert IP addresses on the primary master and secondary master. Should I insert the Ip address that i found when i type ifconfig ? or Should I assign a new IP address.I have set up a webserver, DNS server, File server and mail server on a virtual box. For now, at first, im working with the DNS server or should I work with the web server first?what should I do?
I have a problem configuring a RAID server under Ubuntu 9.10 (kernel 2.6.31.17) with mdadm (v2.6.7.1). First I had some hardware issues that finally got solved by using another motherboard. Now I am dealing with the software part.In order to ease things, I am trying to configure a RAID 5 with three partitions in one disk. I have two HD's, one IDE where the OS lies (recognized as sda), and another where I intend to build the RAID (recognized as sdb). In this second drive I have made three partitions (sdb1, sdb2 & sdb3) of the same size.I've already re-installed Ubuntu 9.10 a couple of times, zeroed the superblocks of the partitions, repartitioned the disks with different partition sizes (I am using 5 GB partitions to save time). I've gone through this process several times, and I really don't know how to move forward now. If RAID is about trust and reliability, this is exactly what I'm not able to get.

I would like to install a subversion server on my Mandriva system, and I was wondering if there are any configuration GUIs out there to help me set it up. Does anyone know of anything out there for this purpose? I found a beta version of a Webmin module that is supposed to provide SVN configuration capabilities, but I can't get it to work (module located here).
Note that I'm not looking for a GUI SVN client like TortoiseSVN, kdesvn, RabbitVCS, RapidSVN, etc. I plan on using such a client to checkout and commit things to the server, but first I need to set up and configure it.
I have to go through an ERP projects. "README" file to setup the software gives following instruction which I have attached with this thread. So, according to first step I copied the entire "dolibarr-2.6.1" folder in "/usr/local/apache2". But whenever I call the browser with address given in "README" file my browser gives the following error message : Code: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost. Please let me know how can I configure the Web Server so that I can use the software.
I have a domain name and I want to host it on my ISP.What my goal is is to have 2 nameservers:NS1.mydomain.com NS2.mydomain.comI want to be able to put www.mydomain.com and have DNS do its thing. I want to use BIND to do this. This is a new realm for me, and i know exactly what I want to do, but I struggle putting it in words
I am using the virtualhosts feature of Apache web server to host multiple domains on a single web-server. Is it possible to have different settings for php for different domains?
For eg:- I have mydomain1.com and mydomain2.com hosted on the same server. I want php scripts of mydomain1.com to connect to database but prevent database access for scripts of mydomain2.com. There are many php functions that I want to restrict for mydomain2.com.
I have 3 virtual machines set up. 2 are servers and one is a client. On one of the servers I have installed apache, mysql, and php and mod_ssl. I can get to the web site on the server from my client system. I can even get to the info php site--the screen that shows everything about php (it's purplish!) I can also get to the secure https site. The one thing I can't do is get my table to display.I have set up a new user in mysql. I have granted that user all privileges. I have created a table on a new database in mysql. I then set up php code within html code But every time I try to go to my test.php site it only gives me the header. It obviously cannot find the table array. This is the code and someone already told me it looked right to them. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I'm trying to configure SSH for accessing with kerberos. I try to configure a SSO. The computer is joined to Active Directory. I can access with the user/pass from AD (using samba/winbind), but if I try to connect using kerberos, the error:
Server not found in kerberos database. The server is CentOS 5.5, but also tried with RHEL 5.5.
Configuration Domain: net Realm: TEST.NET User: usertom Server ssh: testul0001.test.net Client ssh: testul0001.test.net (connect to the same computer) Domain controler: testgc01.test.net .....
I want to configure tls for our sendmail 8.14.x server so that it will attempt to connect to a remote server using tls, and then fall back to an insecure connection. The sendmail.mc file has the following line:
Does this configuration already have the server attempt to connect using tls first, and then fall back to an insecure connection? If not, what would the syntax be in order to accomplish this? Also, what is the best way to check to see how the connection is being made?
In short, I've written a bash script (available from github) for configuring and removing instances of clamav-server on Fedora (clamd). It lets you create and remove individual instances with a specific user and port (if you specify them) and will install the required packages if not already present on the system and remove them if you want to. In long, we use Clam AntiVirus as our antivirus protection for Digital Preservation Recorder and talk to it over the default port, 3310 (clamd). Installing the clamav-server package under Fedora however, doesn't actually set up an instance. In fact, it doesn't copy any system configuration files into place at all. This means that the system is left without any working ClamAV server out of the box.
Under Fedora, ClamAV server is configured on a per user basis. This is actually quite important (unless you run as root) because the daemon needs at minimum read access (and we've found also write) on the files/directory being passed for scanning. The instructions on how to configure it are located under /usr/share/doc/clamav-server-[version]/ but I have taken these instructions and written a bash script to configure all of this for you. The script is available from github. It can create or remove an individual instance of clamav-server using a specific username and/or port (if you want to specify them, else it defaults to clamav on port 3310). The script will also install any required packages, if you don't already have them on the system. You also have the option of removing the required packages when you remove an instance. The script now also configures freshclam for you (the definitions updater), which needs to run as your user too.
I am trying to configure dhcp server in linux 5.4 version on VMWare. DHCP is already installed in my machine but I am not able to start the service. Whenever I give service dhcpd start/restart, it gives message:
Starting Failed My configuration file is like this: [root@chaitu etc]# /etc/init.d/dhcpd start Starting dhcp: [FAILED] [root@chaitu etc]# vi dhcpd.conf ddns-update-style interim; ignore client-updates; .....
I want to have an inn server running on my own server, both to relay my prefered newsgroups and to manage my own newsgroups.
I installed inn with YaST, but I'm lost in the inn documentation. I'm pretty sure openSUSE defaults solve most problems but can't find where I have to setup my own config
I have attempted to set up ubuntu server 10.10 on my home network. I only have one computer and access to windows is a must for me, so what I have been doing is installing the server via VMware as a virtual server. Now, I have been able to successfully set up a server that works on the LAN, but for some reason I have been unable to get access to the server via the external ip address.
I will list all known information about my network, host computer and VMware.
I'm currently using VMware Workstation. For the virtual machine I have installed, I have allocated 500 GB of space to a partition on my 2 TB external hard drive. The network is currently set to NAT, but I would much prefer to Bridge the network so that the guest would be assigned a unique LAN address.
The host computer is a laptop. It is connected to the internet through a wireless router. I can successfully host a teamspeak server that accepts incoming traffic from the internet. The operating system that is installed is Windows Vista.
The network is set up as follows:
The host's LAN address is 192.168.1.50 and is connect to the Router which has an address of 192.168.1.1. I am using a Netgear WNDR3300v1 wireless router. The webserver itself would likely have the IP 192.168.1.2 in the circumstance that the network was bridged for the virtual machine. So the WAN Interface would be the modem my company has provided which has assiged the external IP 24.113.92.228. The modem is a cable modem, the brand is a motorola surfboard.
