I have a visichat site and 1and1 server.
i am having a problem of my firewall.
when i activate firewall from my server account users cant login to chat room. the error occured " Connection To Server Failed".
will anybody let me know how can i fix this problem so that i can active my firewall and also users can login.
try to use empathy to use yahoo chat or some kind of chat but just cant figure it out can someone explain how to use the room feature

I had successfully got the ticket for the user under whom I was able to join to AD. I'm able to get domain controller information with net ads info. But I can't login to that server through ssh (I'm using Putty at windows XP) with any ADuser credentials. I've tried

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a NIS master server and 4 NIS clients. out of 4 nis clients two are acting as login servers ie users will login and do all their stuffs and the remaining two are application servers. But sometimes users login into applications servers and started doing all their developer's job. i want to allow only a limited number of users tointo this application users not all the users who are all part of the nis domain.all the systems are running RHEL 5.4 on hp's proliant x86_64 based servers. Please advice me how should i proceed? enabling ip tables is not possible in my environment.

I've set up password-less login for user1 on a Ubuntu machine to login automatically into a Fedora box using the publickey authentication method. Everything is working smoothly. Now, there is a user2 on Fedora but he does not have an account on Ubuntu.
I tried to login as user2 from Ubuntu to but got the following error :

Predictably neither scp or sftp work either. I have several questions as a result.
1.Is the SSH server rejecting user2 login because I am inadvertently using user1 keys (as I am logged in as user1) ?
2. Do I need to have a user2 account on Ubuntu and public/private key authentication setup with Fedora for user2 to be able to login ?
3. Is there a method I can use to password login as user2 from Ubuntu to Fedora (even though there is no user2 account on Ubuntu) AND still keep password-less login for user1 or do I have to have password-less login for both ?
At present the only way to access the user2 account from Ubuntu is to SSH using the user1 account and then su to user2.

I can't figure out what is the problem but my thought was that it's a problem related to the user configuration rather than vsftp configuration, but it's only my supposition. If i try to login with the "main" user of my Ubuntu server, "webs" i can login correctly.

After restarting the proftpd server and applying the configuration, I try downloading a file in IE browser. Sometimes, it prompts a saveas dialog, and everything was okay.
However, it occasionally prompts a login form instead of a SaveAs dialog. This makes our customers confused greatly.
So, how could I prevent browser from prompting login form when anonymous users try to download files from our ftp server?

I am trying to write a chat program with sockets as part of my project. I made a socket server, using fork ,I tried to connect it with different clients.Each client will send messages to others through server.So server has a shared memory storing every clients username and client id. But the problem facing is first client is able to sent messages to every other client formed after that.But second client onwards it is not able to sent message to previously connected ones. Server is not able to write on those client id's.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to deploy Kerberos and LDAP so users will be able to login in to a server on the edge of the LAN, and afterwards be able to establish a SSH connection to all the computers in that LAN without the need to type any passwords, and without the need for me to manage SSH keys [beside the SSH keys on the login server] and local user accounts.
1. When i create the users in OpenLDAP i use a template that i created by reading documentation from the Internet. In the template one piece of information that is neede is the UID. Is there any clever way the keep track of the numbers so i do not assign the same UID to two users, besides using a pen and paper?
2. For the users to be able to establish SSH connections between the computers, the host is going to be added to the keytab like this: ktadd host/client.example.com Is is possible to replace client with something genric so i do not need to mange these keytab files between the hosts?
3. Users will be logging on the the server on the edge of LAN by using SSH keys. How can i configure the setup so the users will recieve a ticket automatically when the logon without executing kinit and without entering a password, just by having a valid SSH key?
4. krb5kdc is running on all the network interfaces in the server i want it to only run on eth1, how can this be done?
I'm working on sharing a user's home folder using the username and password of the user's lLnux account. I noticed that home folder sharing is quite easy as I just need to change the smb.conf file to enable it. However I can't seem to login anyway. It seems that Samba keeps its own records of username and passwords. Is there a way that I can map/sync the Linux users' usernames and passwords automatically to Samba? The end result should be that whenever I add a new user or a user changes his/her Linux login password,Samba automatically changes its password as well.
