General :: Still No Wireless On HP 2133 BCM4312?
Jan 30, 2011I know this question was asked hundreds of times,but I sy=till can not fix my wireless. On the HP2133 with openSUSE 11.3 I have wired but no wireless connection. The driver is ssb On Terminal I see

Ubuntu :: Trying To Install 10.04 On HP 2133
Jun 10, 2010I'm trying to install version 10.04 of the ubuntu netbook remix on my HP 2133 netbook. I'll try and be as thorough as I can with the information but I'm new to Ubuntu so there's a chance I'm missing something crucial. I'm using Universal USB Installer v.1.60 to make the boot disk. I've checked the MD5 checksums and they're fine. According to the compatibility list it should work straight out the box so I don't know what's going on.
Here's what's happening. I put the USB drive in and boot off it using the BIOS menu. I get a text cursor blinking in the top left corner of my screen for a few seconds and then it just jumps straight back into windows. This is really starting to bug me as I've checked and double checked everything. The only thing I can think of is that it's because my netbook has a VIA C7-M rather than an Intel Atom processor but, as I've mentioned, the compatibility page says it should work. If it is because of this, can I get around it and if so, how?

Jan 31, 2009I'm trying to install fedora 10 onto the HP mini note, I have read how to install from another forum but it does not seem to work. I have setup a USB install using unetbootin. I only get white box lines for a mouse cursor the when it finally begins like it is about to boot into the live installation it freezes and can go no further.

Jun 20, 2011Both F15 KDE Live CD and DVD new installs fail on HP 2133 mini notebook. The device has previously accepted F12 installation without a problem. The HP 2133 has a VIA C7 processor. Is this CPU is no longer compatible with Fedora? The syslog repeats endlessly 'microcode: no support for this CPU vendor'. The Live CD will not even begin the install to diskl. The DVD will install but will fail on reboot with the microcode error. How to overcome this installation problem?. Is there a kernel upgrade or microcode update that has already resolved this and how can it be installed?

Mar 19, 2010I just installed Debian (lenny) on my HP 2133 Mini-Note (KX869AT). I've managed to get everything working, even the Broadcom wireless adapter, but the display is too large for the actual screen size. To get the screen to a more manageable resolution, I did copy the xorg.conf file of another HP 2133 Mini-Note user. (It was probably a different model; there are several versions of the HP 2133, hence the model number in the description.) Icons and things hide off-screen. The text on the GNOME panel is quite large.

I am looking for an iso file, and I am trying to run this off of a live CD for now. So I want a light version of Linux, probably LXDE, or if not, then probably XFCE. But I need a new version of Firefox and OpenOffice included.
Because, I tried burning the customizable NimbleX @ custom.nimblex.net . Pretty good, except it uses Firefox 2, and Open Office 2.3, which are outdated.
And I tried Mint XFCE, which might have been pretty good too, but it had some issue of blanking and requiring relogin after I opened hotmail frequently (user id: mint, password: blank).
The web browser and the word processing program are the most important and essential applications to me.
So are there any Linux versions in LXDE on LiveCD that include newer versions of Firefox (or at least another good browser) and Open Office (oo seems better than abi)? (Again, if no LXDE, perhaps XFCE?)
I just want to download a good version in an iso file, and burn it to a CD and get to work. Like I said the web browser and the word processing program are all important.
So really, what iso/LiveCD versions are the fastest for running on an older system, and yet have the newest browser and word processor included?

Jul 10, 2009I've made a linux app that I'm porting to win32 winth MinGW and MSYS. It's a ticker app that reads then renders a text file to a pixmap (a tall single-line image), then it kind of scrolls the pixmap by drawing a part of it to a drawing_area, using gdk_draw_drawable() within a timeout handler set by g_timeout_add().
The problem is it works fine on linux (the scrolling is really smooth and that's the goal) but the win version is choppy and uses at least 90% of cpu resources (vs 15% with linux) like there is a big performance problem. And I'm not even sure that double buffering is set. Is it related to some mingw config or drawing_area stuff or gtk for win?
